Diner Reviews
  • "spacious dining room gives room for quiet talk and privacy. food was good if a bit pricey for what was served. service was excellent especially on a not so busy Sunday evening. Brunch the next morning was very nice."

  • "We were extremely excited to visit the Vineyard Rose. We were expecting awesome food, service, and a view! While we weren't let down by the view and the food the rest of the experience overshadowed the positives enough to ensure we will not be back. We were seated outside and in the wineries this creates for a horrible fly problem. To the point you are unable to take a break from swatting flies off of your plate to eat. I understand that being outside this just comes with the territory however there are some tactics they can take to minimize this problem. Furthermore our service was terrible. We were constantly in waiting for beverages (I never received a refill) and waited 30+ minutes after boxing our food to receive our bill."

  • "I cannot say enough great things about the Vineyard Rose. The ambiance was like being in the mountains. Our waiter Sean was awesome. And the food was incredible. The gazpacho ceviche had the most fish and seafood I have ever had in the past. I had the salmon and my date and the lamb. The lamb was a bit over priced but both dishes were awesome. I highly recommend it"

  • "Had lunch at Vineyard Rose during a recent Temecula wine tour. The setting was beautiful and our group of 6 was notably impressed. The food was good but nothing exceptional. The service on this day was spotty. While I do recommend the restaurant it is more for the view and camaraderie than the food and service."

  • "The food and service were very good. We had an anniversary family dinner and everyone said that their meal was delicious."

  • "We all enjoyed our meals a lot. Two of us had the Prime Rib, one had salmon, and one had the scallops. We definitely plan on returning in the near future."

  • "Took my fiancé for her birthday here and she loved it."

  • "The food was great. The service was just extremely slow. Had to ask for bread when every other table had bread. It was a birthday and we had noted that in the reservation, yet had to tell the waitress......it is a birthday right at desert time...seems those notes never carried over to the reservation."

  • "We were in Temecula wine country for my husband's birthday. We opted to wine taste at South Coast winery and then dine at the Vineyard Rose restaurant. The wine tasting room was very crowded, they did not have enough staff pouring wine and the wine's were not fabulous ... drinkable but not memorable. At the restaurant it took a few minutes for the hostess to see we were there. Once seated our service was excellent. Our table was comfortable and felt semi-private, the waiter provided a nice overview of the menu and answered our questions and our water glasses were kept full (important in hot Temecula after a day of wine tasting). We shared a salad. I had the pork chop and my husband had the prime rib. Both of our meals were delicious!"

  • "i was disappointed in this restaurant- I had been there last year for my anniversary and came back to celebrate again- First there were no crab cakes on the menu- so disspaointed and the prices seem to be out of touch for the size of what is given- felot like I was ripped off- Also had music last time and there is only a live piano player on Wednesday also dissapointed- will not return"

  • "Lovely patio dining. Great food & wine. Friendly service. Beautiful gardens. Outdoor fans keep the patio cool during warm summer months. A nice place for a reunion!"

  • "Very poor service and dinner food! However their breakfast is great! Don't waste your money on dinner though, 26 dollars for 5 spinach raviolis that were terrible and 36 dollars for a tough overcooked prime rib with an under cooked baked potato! Terrible desert too! They brought out pineapple cheese cake, couldn't even finish 1 bite that's how bad it was, then they gave us chocolate cake to go. When we got back to our room and opened the box it had melted ice cream with a little silver of cake, which we only took one bite and threw it out. However, we returned in the morning for mimosa breakfast and it was great! Food was fabulous, service was great! You wouldn't even know it was the same place!"

  • "We took advantage of a special wine club offer. Prime Rib dinner for 2 and a bottle of wine for $75.00. Great service, good food and a nice bottle of Mourvèdre ."

  • "My wife and I went here for our wedding anniversary on a Sunday evening. Most winery restaurants are not even open for dinner on Sunday's, so this was a nice surprise. We both had steaks, which were perfectly cooked and tasted amazing. The service was the highlight here too. Our server was very attentive and respectful of our privacy. I highly recommend Vineyard Rose!"

  • "Really wasn't impressed with the food. Lunch menu replaced on Sundays with brunch menu. Kind of over priced for what you get, and the wine was ok...They hype themselves as being trendy and great, but there are many other wineries and restaurants in the area with better food and better wine choices. Just isn't worth a return... Did like the reservations though through Open Table."

  • "The wait staff was amazing, and after I requested to move our group inside, it was handled quickly and pleasantly. The bananas foster pancakes were the best thing I've ever eaten. Such a beautiful restaurant as well."

  • "Having read the reviews in Open Table we decided to make dinner reservations at the Vineyard Rose at South Coast Winery. First it is a lovely setting surrounded by vineyards. Upon arrival we were promptly seated and served most magnificently throughout the evening. Our waiter clarified menu items, made suggestions, and was attentive without being intrusive. We began with the chowder and French Onion soup. Both were excellent. For our entrée we both ordered the prime rib. It was thick and juicy and served with a baked potato and a medley of vegetable. The Tempranillo wine was an excellent pairing for the prime rib. The bread pudding and creme brûlée were among the best we have eaten. This was truly a 5 star meal."

  • "Spent a couple nights at south coast winery resort for some r & r ..we love it there ..wine tasting. Massages. Hanging by the pool. No driving to restaurants. Just a short walk through the vineyards. Food is really good. Service is excellent. Robert and Tina very personable. We will return"

  • "Service was fantastic at this restaurant. The wine he recommended was awesome. The catch of the day was well prepared by the Chef. The restaurant is not as romantic as I expected. They showed outdoor seating in the photos online but they don't have such a thing. There were several groups of women at other tables who were loud. But the fantastic service made up for it. The restaurant recognized our anniversary with a complimentary dessert! That was very nice!"

  • "Looking for a great place to just sit back and enjoy a wonderful dinner with a glass of the best wine under the stars? South Coast Winery is the place. Been a member for 7 years now and I've yet to be disappointed."

  • "I was disappointed that there was no outdoor seating, despite having many outdoor tables onsite, and a beautiful view. Also, on arrival, we were asked to wait, even though there were many open tables. I hate that. The server was very professional and attentive, and we really liked the meal. Nice wine list."

  • "Our group enjoyed a delicious dinner but the service wasn't anything to brag about. I guess we all expected better service when dining at this restaurant. Service was on par with dining at the local chain restaurant or eatery. Our waitress wasn't very attentive. We had to ask the bus boys, who were all wonderful!, for things we need or to get our waitress for us. She also forgot our soup order. No biggie but it just added to this low service rating."

  • "We have eaten here many times, usually either before or after a day of wine tasting at the many wineries in the Temecula Valley. The food is always good and service is very good. When taking friends there they all enjoy the experience at the Vineyard Rose."

  • "Great wait staff, good entrée variety, (a menu w/just the right amount of choice w/o being over-bearing), w/the right balance of veg/carbs, portion size about right & well presented & delicious. Atmosphere great, but table size seems more focused on large groups vs couples - we were seated at a table for 8. Price - very reasonable for the quality of service and meal selected. Alcoholic beverage availability was disappointing - limited to beer & wine. Was looking forward to a bourbon Manhattan. Experienced breakfast on the outdoor deck area for 2 a.m.'s - both times very enjoyable and relaxing. Limited, but great menu, and, again, well presented, tasty, balanced and reasonably priced. Will recommend to family and friends."

  • "Arrived early for dinner reservation. Sat in bar for at least half hour before getting service. In the meantime at least 5-7 servers gathered at the hostess desk to visit. Food was mediocre. Perhaps breakfast is best, you can't really ruin that. Walkways are beautiful but the restaurant inside doesn't match the exterior. Our waiter was knowledgable & friendly but the food quality is beyond his control. Won't be back!"

  • "The first impression was of a very cold, large place. Then we noticed burn marks on our white table cloth. Our waitress was cold, rude and snippy. I never do this, but asked for the manager and we were given a delightful young man for a replacement. He did an excellent job,but it's hard to dispel a first impression."

  • "My husband ordered some type of Stone beer, it took a long time to get and as the waitress was putting it down at the table she realized that it was not the one that my husband ordered. She left to get the right stone beer, again we waited and she finally came back, I'm guessing because she finally remembered about it, she was talking to the table next to us. She returned again letting him know that the restaurant was out of the beer he wanted , and she order the original beer she brought but my husband didn't like that beer and asked for others. He found one that he liked and ordered that one, and again we had to wait for it. He got it right before our desert came, and he ordered his beer before our dinner came."
