A word from Vincenzo's Asheville
Vincenzo's Ristorante & Bistro is Asheville's premier Northern Italian/Continental restaurant. Established in 1990, Vincenzo's has become an institution in Asheville's downtown restaurant scene. Vincenzo's has won numerous awards for food and service over the years, while maintaining and honoring time tested recipes of Old Italy. While it is difficult to claim authenticity in the United State due to the impossibility of procuring the same products used in Italy, Vincenzo's succeeds at being a genuine Italian restaurant experience. Our wine list is extensive and representative of the depth, breath and character of one of the great wine cultures in the world, Italy. While our main dining room is white table cloth our Bistro is California casual in style and offers live music seven nights a week. The Bistro is one of Asheville's favorite local hangouts offering our same great food in a deliberately more casual atmosphere. Come build some wonderful memories with us soon!!Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "We ate on Sunday night, so it may not be representative, but the upstairs venue was very quiet, which we liked. We could hear a little from the piano bar downstairs, but a little piano accompaniment was welcome. The food was very tasty, and they had some dishes like the lasagna which were not what you'd find in a typical Italian place, but seemed to be more authentic and certainly more delicious. The waiter recommended an excellent and reasonably priced wine to go with dinner, and the pre-meal bread was very soft and tasted great with oil."

  • "Our server,Jesse, was great and Steve on the piano was fantastic. The food was better than expected and the expectations were not low."

  • "Enjoyed our dinner. Hostess and waiter were great. Food was good as well. Nice place to have a traditional Italian meal and not spend a fortune."

  • "We had dinner with friends who are Italian & are serious about the Italian food they eat; they had nothing but good things to say when the meal was over. I had the Melanzani alla Parmigiana (eggplant parmesan) which was very tasty. My husband had the Pesce Napoli ~ white fish & shrimp in a lemon, white wine, garlic sauce over angel hair ~ he's still talking about how good it was 2 days later. Even though I did not choose an entrée with a small plate option, Vincenzo's does offer that which is an option I very much appreciate having. I can't say enough good things about our waiter. He was respectfully attentive & very well versed in the menu options. If I could change anything, it would be the decor which is tired & dated."

  • "As tourists we appreciate a restaurant that is glad you are eating with them. From the hostess and the wait staff we were treated royally. Our three different entrees were excellent. We look forward to a return visit."

  • "Our food was surprisingly good. I'm generally not an Italian food eater but Vincenzo's could change all that. However, when I made the reservation I thought we'd be upstairs as my last experience was upstairs. Unfortunately we were in the bar, and while the music would have been enjoyable had we not wanted to talk... However, this was a dinner with clients and we couldn't even have a normal conversation... Everyone had to repeat everything at least twice. If we'd known we wouldn't have been able to converse, we would have chosen another restaurant. But food was superb... Service excellent..."

  • "Live piano enjoyable and brought me back with songs my parents enjoyed. Small and quaint dinning room with old time feel. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Did mess up our main course order though. Pasta dishes were very good as we're salads. Veal dishes and sides needed help though and lacked flavour. Preparation and presentation were okay just flat overall."

  • "We have been to Vincenzo's several times and we always enjoy our evening. The food is great and we love the atmosphere with the piano. It feels elegant and romantic --very relaxing. We will definitely go back."

  • "The owner and employees treat you so well. The only thing better is the food!"

  • "We found Vincenzo's to be even better than our last visit. The wait staff are friendly and attentive and food quite tasty."

  • "My food was mediocre at best, but I was very impressed with the wine selection. Overall, though, the "feel" of the restaurant was what made the experience memorable for me. It felt like a trip back in time, and almost even took me out of Asheville for a brief moment straight to the Mediterranean. Wait service was good, but not great...took the better part of 15+ minutes to place a food order after we received drinks. Worth a try nonetheless."

  • "Very good dinner in an established Asheville restaurant. We had meal upstairs in the quieter section of the eatery. A little dated, but quaint and pleasant. I prefer this to the louder bar section downstairs which had live music. Very good meal choices. Reservations recommended."

  • "Our waiter couldn't have been nicer. Our table upstairs by the front window was very pleasant and private. The food was middle of the road, though. Nice to be able to order smaller portions on several of the dishes on the menu. Canelloni was great, but portion was too much and I suffered later for that. Piano downstairs was very loud. Glad we weren't seated there."

  • "I went here for my birthday dinner and my friend and I both got the chicken pram and it was DELICIOUS. The Alfredo was the best I've ever tasted and you can tell that everything is fresh. The service was also really nice and our food came to us in a reasonable amount of time. The atmosphere was also very cozy and elegant, a good date place."

  • "We had a wonderful dinner: Mussels with a diavolo sauce, Lobster Ravioli, Filet Medallions with Gorgonzola sauce. Since it was my wife's birthday, we received a complementary slice of a delicious cake. The waiter was delightful and the room felt like a European restaurant. We will definitely return."
    Dined on 3/14/2014
  • "The food is average. The drink sizes are European. The waiter was self centered. One would find better cutlery in a high school cafeteria. With all of the dining options in Asheville, this is one you should avoid."

  • "I've lived in Asheville, NC for 21 years, and Vencenzo's was one of the first places we dined. Over the years, most all the other establishments we liked have changed names and owners. Being in downtown has caused us to not think of it as often as in the past, but our most recent visit did not disappoint."

  • "Had a great meal and wonderful evening. This was a special evening with my daughters and because of the staff and food it was exactly what I wanted it to be. Thank you!"

  • "Food was great. We felt catered to with our group of six. Got to the theatre in time after 1 and a half hours. Martinis were excellent. Oysters Rockerfeller were excellent. Everyone loved the food from the steaks to the cannaloni and the seafood stew"

  • "A little hesitant, I made reservations for a first date at the restaurant. I left pleasantly surprised by both the quality of the food and the ambience. The downstairs had a great bar with live music, and the upstairs suited more of a quiet romance atmosphere. I would highly recommend the restaurant, and I plan on going back!"

  • "We arrived at the restaurant and were seated. We sat for 15 minutes and during that time two other parties were seated and a waiter waiter served both parties.I noticed during this time frame two members of the wait staff were having a conversation. Finally one of those employees came to serve us.There were further delays with this waiter and we almost missed our theatre engagement. The waiter was told we had theatre tickets and I had allowed 90 minutes for dinner As a resident of the Asheville area this is the last time I will go to this resturant. Both my wife and I had veal dishes and the food was good but not worth the price of very poor service."

  • "Lovely restaurant, the food was wonderful. The food was more authentic and we had wonderful service. The cannoli there is very good and the pianist played beautifully. Vincenzo's is great for a romantic night out or a night out with friends or family."

  • "We've been there before, and it was good but this time, not so much. My husband dropped me off and went to find a parking space and they would not seat me until he arrived. We always get a good table when reserving through Open Table, but not this time. We were in a high traffic area, but they did move us when requested. The best part of the meal was caprese salad-it was excellent. Our server was nice, but didn't know much about the wine list or menu. My husband had the special (mahi) and it tasted like it had been frozen-- one would think the "special" would be fresh. I had Pesce Napoli. It was just OK. We tried tiramisu and it was average. We've had better Italian food at other places in Asheville. It will be a while before we return!"

  • "Perhaps it was due to coming to the restaurant for a 6:00 PM reservation (5 minutes early) and many people were being seated at once, the service was slow. Our waiter had several tables and would take a long time when ordering, requesting more drinks and the kitchen must have been backed up. The food was very flavorful and well presented with the exception of the tenderloin medallions which came out Medium Well versus the Medium Rare requested so they were a little dry. The wine list was extensive and wine ordered by the glass was very good."

  • "The food was very good and there was a great selection. The only downside was, we were seated at the top of the stairs and it was quite drafty. They wouldn't shut the door nor did they offer to change our table."

  • "Went for the Restaurant week and menu was 2 for 30 dollars. The menu was confusing and we said here for the 2 for $30. The waiter did not inform us that our order was not correct and got bill for $64. We complained and told the owner felt the menu was clear. The menu was separate from the regular menu and said 2 for $30. We ended up still paying over $57 to get out, and felt the waiter/ supervisor should have let us know that my wife's entree was not correct (my order was correct)! They even indicated we were not the first to be confused by their menu, but unwilling to admit it was misleading or tell us the selection would not qualify for the special."

  • "a repeat visit proved to be quite disappointing. the food was as expected. the service left everything to be desired -bartender and waitstaff alike. we were told there was no bread when, in fact, there was fresh bread baking in the kitchen...which we then had to inquire about when a neighboring table received a basket. meals went missing and had to be re-ordered. the waiter served plates across the table -over other patrons; in one instance, he even handed a patron silverware to set her own place setting. in celebration of a birthday, a slice of cheesecake was unceremoniously dropped in front of the birthday girl -nevermind the fact that the nine other people at the table were never asked about dessert or coffee."

  • "From the minute we walked in to the end of the night the service at this restaurant does not match the food quality, I feel bad for the chef as his food was delicious but completely runined by this horrible expierence. We walked in and the hostess noticed we had a baby and immediately were given a snide look and were moved to the farthest corner of the upstairs dining area. Secondly our server was either drunk or did not have any sort of memorization skills whatsoever. You think he would have written some things down with how many mistakes he made. From the minute we walked in the I have never expierenced as poor of service across the board as I did at this restaurant. Stay far away from this place."

  • "When we first got there we were told (by the owner) to go to the top of the stairs and tell hostess to sit us at table 51. We decided we liked downstairs better so we asked to be moved down. Well, it went downhill from there. It took 20 minutes for us to order our food. The waiter brought us our food & never checked up on us again. We finished our food and then sat for another 10 minutes with the empty plates in front of us the waiter still had not checked on us to see how we liked our food. Finally, he came with the check in hand. Did not ask how we liked it or if we needed refills on wine or drinks. Our whole dining experience took a total of 2 hours and the waiter only came to our table a total of 5 times. We will never come back."

  • "I have eaten here once before and this experience, like the previous one, was not memorable. The food was good and my steak was cooked exactly as I had ordered, but I just wasn't bowled over by anything. It was just good. That's all."

  • "We went to Vincenzo's with our daughter, son in law, and granddaughter (age5). Service was generally attentive and helpful, though the waiter was distracted at one point by a table of about 15 customers, each of whom wanted a separate check. Whew! The food was uniformly excellent. First rate Tiramisu for dessert. The upstairs restaurant has the feel of an old-school New York Italian place."
