  • "We had delicious oysters and shared the Hanger Steak. We ordered it rare and they did not disappoint. It was delicious. It is hands down my favorite entree at Vin Rouge. "

  • "All the dishes from appetizers to entrees to desserts have such a sophisticated mix of flavors, even the macaroni I ordered for my kids are the best we've had. I'd recommend the hanger steak be ordered Medium if you like to try different cuts other than NY Strip and Filet Mignon. Definitely order the seafood tower (petit plateau) to share if you have a family dinner or so who don't mind getting hands dirty to enjoy such luxury seafood treat!"

  • "I've eaten at many wonderful restaurants world-wide (italy, Manhattan ...), with Vin Rouge now perhaps at the very top of my favorite restaurants list. Really liked the menu's diversity (including calves liver which I rarely see), with the chocolate mousse being without a doubt the best dessert I've ever eaten! I will DEFINITELY return!"

  • "My wife and I were celebrating our 15th anniversary and had been to Vin Rouge twice before over the last 3 years. We were very happy that they could take us on late notice and still provide the quiet romantic ambiance with great service for which we were hoping. the food was excellent and the service terrific! We would definitely go again!!"

  • "We were seated right away and decor was very relaxed and inviting. The Dijon mussels and the sweetbreads were excellent. We also had the flank steak and while it was good it was hiding under the salad which we found interesting since the waitress was pushing the salad as side while we were ordering when the steak came with a salad. The food was good; however the waitress did not seem to know the menu or the selections. We asked about a particular beer on the menu and she did not know anything about any of the selections offered on the menu. When it came to deserts she appeared to be annoyed with us since we did not opt for dessert. At the end of our service another waiter dropped off the check and processed our payment."

  • "Disadvantages: Very noisy if you sit in the front section. Impossible to carry on a conversation. Wine is on the expensive side Advantages: Food is very good. Location is easy to get to with plenty of parking."

  • "Overall I had a nice experience having brunch here with a friend of mine. I was impressed with the list of wines and cocktails, as well as the brunch menu which had more than a few vegetarian. I ordered the eggs florentine, which were well prepared but a bit on the salty. The pomme frites (french fries) were spot on, but perhaps a side salad would have been more appropriate for brunch time. Good coffee! Ambience was perfect for a brunch (open-aired, relaxed), and I was pleased at the amount of outdoor seating, even if the restaurant doesn't exactly look fancy from the street. I enjoyed my time here."

  • "My husband and I felt the food was very salty! Otherwise, the service and environment was very pleasant."

  • "We were in town for a college reunion and after a bit of research I chose this restaurant for the three couples. We arrived on time and were promptly seated. Drinks came out fine as did the apps. Then the looooong wait began. Dinner was not presented until 57 minutes after the order was placed. In fact I went to the server at the 50 minute mark (as she hadn't been back to the table) and asked whether the kitchen was in the weeds. She said yes she had been waiting for the order. Not good. The killer is the food was very good. Calves liver done beautifully; mac and cheese out of sight; an oyster gratinee app that I wanted to pick up and lick the plate. Let's hope this is a one time issue and not ongoing."

  • "This was our first time at Vin Rouge. Though somewhat small, you did not feel cramped, although the noise level was a bit high at times. We read many good reviews about the Hangar Steak on its menu, so my wife ordered it as her main dish and it did not disappoint. I had the macaroni and cheese casserole which was the best I have ever had. As appetizers my wife ordered oysters in melted Gruyere cheese which was more like a main dish, and I ordered onion soup which was cooked perfectly with great flavor, lots of onions and melted cheese in a crock. It was a pretty traditional presentation, but it was hot and flavorful. The entrees were abundant and the service was exceptional. Overall an excellent dining experience. We will return soon. ."

  • "I class this venue as an "almost fine dining" restaurant. It seems to miss on something, and I think that something is the staff. When we arrived, we were greeted by what we had to assume was the maitre d'. I say greeted, but not one word was spoken by her. Not a "hello", "can I take your name", not even a "can you follow me to the table". When she just walked off, we just assumed we had to follow. That just started the evening on a negative. Our waitress was very friendly and bubbly, knew her menu and had good reasons for recommendations. However, she was attending to many tables and if we wanted further drinks etc we had to wave her down. Entrees were impressive, desserts not so much."

  • "We'd dined at Vin Rouge with our family before and looked forward to a pleasant repeat experience. Made our reservations for 6:30 and arrived promptly, only to be told by the front staff that we'd need to wait, even though there were several empty tables - two of which would accommodate our party. We were told that we couldn't be seated until the kitchen had a chance to catch up, and ended up waiting for 30 minutes - standing outside in front of the busy store. Not what we'd planned, after a long day's work! The food was tasty and a good value, and our waiter was pleasant and helpful, but we almost left before being seated, with the long wait and grumpy staff up front. We're glad we went but may think twice about going again any time soon."

  • "Enjoyable overall, but if you want French food, look elsewhere. The environment felt French though, so that was fun."

  • "I had the pork special (Pork loin, White pork sausage, "lardon" with sauerkraut and fingerling potatoes), Excellent. My wife had the the Duck Confit salad with blue cheese and walnuts (Very good- wish Figs had been in season so it had nice fresh grapes instead), The white bean soup was good but outdone by the main courses. Dessert (Belgium Chocolate mouse), wine and a Manhattan made for an enjoyable evening. The waitress was attentive and professional."

  • "Overall the atmosphere was great, but we had a long wait and my meal was not cooked properly, so it really ruined the rest of my day..."

  • "This was our second visit to Vin Rouge and our meal was as consistently good as it was on our prior visit. Our food was prepared with a wonderful blend of subtle flavors. The onion soup which my husband had as an appetizer was a large portion and delightfully covered with gruyere cheese but a little too salty for our taste. My salad with blue cheese, apples, bacon, walnuts and a light Dijon vinaigrette was tasty but piled high with the greens the accompaniments were sparse in comparison to the amount of greens. Our entrees were superb. I had the calves liver which seemed like a small portion but was the best I have ever had. My husband had the porc dish accompanied by red cabbage and he loved it. The pork chop was incredibly tender."

  • "Vin Rouge has a great decorative flair for a French dinner out. Comparing the food list with the wine list becomes a daunting task because the menu just doesn't stack up to the expensive wines offered. Having eaten here on several occasions I was a bit disappointed with the service, and the food was okay but not amazing."

  • "Vin Rouge has been a consistently great place for a meal and this time was no different. Once you get passed the hostess (which is always a hectic place), we enjoyed a quiet and enjoyable dinner. Everything was very flavorful and presented beautifully. The service was great - attentive but not overly so."

  • "Got all my favorite French dishes and they were fantastic! Waiter was not snooty at all, though the bartender confused us and steered is toward drinks we didn't want. Cozy and fancy atmosphere. Love it!"

  • "Very little effort made to address a food allergy---both from the perspective of validating what is in the ingredients to asking the chef to substitute ingredients for possibly dangerous ones. We were actually told to have a piece of meet with salt and pepper on it. This is the second time this has occurred here and is very unusual in this day and age."

  • "Vin Rouge is magical. We have gone with out of town guests many times now and it remains our favorite restaurant (and we have tried many of the triangles best). From the good to the ambiance, wine list and service, it's perfection. We've had our best meals in the front dining room - a little quieter and a more candlelit feel. We can't wait to go back!"

  • "so, a non-pretentious fun bistro...I've been mostly to their brunch which is hearty and great...love pain perdu....last night, one of my few dinners there, enjoyed bouillabaisse (aka fish stew/soup)....tasty, a little light on solid matter, worth it though...almost like the Marsellaises might do it...nice atmosphere, very pleasant service folk.....think I'll go for the brunch this weekend...."

  • "Nice atmosphere - former service station transformed into rustic yet elegant décor. "Greeted" at door by indifferent staff person, but wait staff and service was excellent as was the food. The salads are outstanding and larger than they need to be."

  • "My family of 4 recently dined at Vin Rouge (for the second time in a year) to celebrate my husband's birthday. Reservation was made 3 weeks prior to the event date through Open Table but when I called the restaurant a week prior, I was told they didn't have my reservation. They eventually have their manager checked around and finally located my reservation. The 2 rib eye steaks that my husband and son ordered were a bit dry and the bouillabaisse that I ordered was a bit too soupy. We understand that they have a change of chefs recently and I could tell the food wasn't as good when compared to our last visit."

  • "Best French restaurant experience since Paris. The food was what I remember last time in France. Started with the mussels, do not miss the mussels. We did the classic style but they serve them several ways. Then to the simple bibb salad with an excellent viginarette dressing, it was a large salad enough for two people. Then we went on the the chicken. Chicken you say.........dull boring chicken.........not so at all. It was juicy and wonderful with a perfect broth, lots of flavor not found in 99.99% of all the other chicken dishes I have had. Finished with the bread pudding. WOW! Server was a young girl who was a little unsteady at times, but she was very pleasent and friendly. Presentation of the food was simple but appropriate."

  • "We'd been meaning to go here for a LONG time now. Enough people kept telling us that we needed to go that we finally went and we anticipated that it'd be good given the recommendations. But honestly, it actually exceeded our expectations. It's a charming little place and the food is excellent. But, no, wait...let's pause here...it's excellent. What's more, the vibe is a not pretentious at all, which is probably half the reason it took us so long to go in the first place. So, yeah, if people tell you to get yourself over here it's with good reason. Go. Go now. Nom nom nom."
