Vin RougeBeautiful and delicious!Always great food and a great atmosphere.
We come here for any and all occasions and even for non-occasions.
It's a great deal for the quality alone, and also the portion sizes are great!5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently good foodHave not been here in the past year - forgot how really great the food is - consistently enjoyable evening5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat mussels!!Always a fave for brunch, the moules were especially tasty on Mother's Day! The sauce was perfect, and our waiter kept the crispy baquette basket full for us when I mentioned that I prefer using their delicious crunchy bread to the frites (although they really do have great french fries!)5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMothers Day TreatGreat food, reasonable prices and to top it off the one of the nicest Spring days for a delicious Mothers Day brunch. The Crocque Monsieur or Madame with an egg (poached) on top which I enjoyed was perfect on a sunny Sunday. The fresh fruit was seasonally superb and a great way to start. The Mother of my three wonderful children enjoyed the Hamd and Gruyere Crepe with Mornay sauce. As always, the pommes frites are some of the best in the area, rivaling Paris or Brussels.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellence on every levelI'd heard nothing but good things about Vin Rouge and was glad to finally get. That it lived up to its reputation was very satisfying.
Food was exquisite and bountiful, atmosphere vibrant, and the service expert and friendly,5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMPrompt and attentive service,Prompt and attentive service, excellent food, though I some French bistro classics like coq au vin were not on the menu. The dining rooms seem a little crowded with a few too many tables, though perhaps this is part of the ambience. This was a first time visit, and I expect to be coming back, even though I live 75 miles away.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMDoesnt disappointI have had dinner at brunch at Vin Rouge and both were excellent.
The service is good and the food is awesome.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistent QualityI don't remember when I discovered Vin Rouge, but I think it was somewhere around 2008 and I have been back many times. Put simply: it is just wonderful. I have spent a lot of time in France, and every time I return to Vin Rouge, I am back in rural France again. Last Saturday was no exception. If you don't visit Vin Rouge at least once, you have no-one to blame but yourself. I retuned last Saturday and yet again enjoyed the delightful ambience and fabulous food.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed a very well preparedWe enjoyed a very well prepared 3 course dinner. The tables for 2 are small rounds which allows for better conversation5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMalways a great meal AND winealways a great meal AND wine at vin rouge... and service!!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding in every category!Outstanding in every category! My recent experience reaffirmed why I recommend this gem to anyone who asks for fine dining options in the Triangle. I'm always impressed how the sophisticated, casual french bistro fare at Vin Rouge rivals the quality of the most upscale restaurants in the area. Two days after eating here, I still find myself thinking about the lentils in the salmon entree...creamy and perfectly-seasoned with the sauteed lardons without being too forward and decadent. The knowledgeable wait staff, exceptional service, and romantic ambiance all conspire to present a five-star dining experience you will no doubt enjoy at Vin Rouge.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed the food very much.We enjoyed the food very much. Our waiter was a little bit chatty with other table. We had to wait for a long while to get his attention. Other than that all was good.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMPretty good. We will go againPretty good. We will go again sometime. I really wanted to try their famous Mac n cheese. They served it cold. :( It was much better the next day when we warmed the left overs.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat place to take guests, great place to take guests, or just a night out for a nice relaxed meal.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious ambiance! The brunch is always a special event with delicious food and European ambiance!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMVin Rouge is my favorite restaurantVin Rouge is my favorite restaurant in Durham. It's always great!4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat, as per usual!Vin Rouge provides perhaps the best quality/price ratio in the Triangle. Consistently excellent, and really enjoy the outdoor patio when weather allows.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAMAZING Dinner, but strange musicThis is our favorite restaurant in Durham for special occasions. We ate there for our 5th anniversary. The caramelized onion and goat cheese tart and dijon mustard mussels are absolutely mouthwatering, and the dark chocolate mousse is divine. They have a great French wine list. The restaurant is both eclectic and romantic. The inside is beautiful, especially the backroom, and on a nice evening, it is enjoyable to sit on their nicely decorated patio. We have had great service most times we have eaten there. My one main critique of the restaurant is its choice of music (usually 70s-90s funky dance music), which doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the atmosphere.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I have been twiceMy wife and I have been twice for the Sunday Brunch meal and Both time we have been impressed with the quality of the food. The only sad part to our experience is that of course, on a Sunday in N.C. you can't have a glass of wine with your food!!!!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was no joke the bestThis was no joke the best meal I have ever eaten in my life.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMPinnacle of new Durham food cultureFantastic traditional French bistro on par with any in Paris, but with a much more romantically quaint feel. A leading example of the bourgeoning food and wine culture arising in Durham, NC. One meal will make you a believer in the unassuming city's ability to provide high-quality food from any culture.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place for taking ourGreat place for taking our out of town friends. They loved it!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMVery romantic. Excellent foodVery romantic. Excellent food and the price was reasonable for the overall quality of the place. I had the trout with the almond sauce, and I loved it! The service was really kind and helpful too. I would definitely recommend it for special ocassions!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptionally wonderful. This was our first time trying out Vin Rouge after many years of wanting to go. The ambiance, decorations, and overall feeling was superb. A very sexy french restaurant. My mother and I went before a concert at DPAC and our server was very helpful and made sure that we were done with our meal in a timely manner without rushing us, which I appreciated very much. The wine list is extensive and impressive, the wine we chose complemented our dishes perfectly. Us foodies cannot wait to go back!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food! We had notExcellent food! We had not been in ~2 years and returned. The special entree/dish was striped bass, it was so delicious! Great crowd as the DPAC had a film festival going on so very busy. The service was very good even on a packed evening. The onion tart was very good and we shared as an appetizer as well as we split the lemon tart for desert and we never order desert.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMVin Rouge is a remarkablyVin Rouge is a remarkably good French restaurant. The wine list is impressive and the service is attentive. It is also the best fresh seafood restaurant in Durham. They offer a wide and tasty selection of oysters on the half shell and fantastic mussels. We love the place.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is an excellent restaurant. This is an excellent restaurant. Even when busy, service is flawless. The food is invariably delicious. I've found it is well worth asking about the size of the dishes, since some of the appetizers can be surprisingly filling. The chocolate mousse is definitely worth saving up calories for. This has become our go-to place for special occasions.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMDO NOT MISS THIS RESTAURANT!!ALWAYS DELICIOUS AND ALL I CAN SAY IS `AWESOME'~!!!!!!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMVery possibly the best diningVery possibly the best dining experience I've ever had.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe live about an hour andWe live about an hour and a half away, and there are no French restaurants close by. HangBacon Conifiture was amazing.
Hanger Steak with Blue Cheese also amazing.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, special requests honordExcellent experience. Prior to going, I requested a vase of flowers for our table - and, sure enough, a beautiful vase of flowers was awaiting us on a table in a nice, quiet spot in the restaurant. The food was excellent, as usual (we've been there before) - escargots and shrimp for appetizers, and main courses of the flounder special (made to order with substitutions because of food allergies - and WELL-made, at that) and the Trout Amandine (absolutely wonderful). For dessert - get the apple bread pudding (it was better, IMHO, than the chocolate mousse - and that's saying a *lot*, because the mousse was delicious).
We were there early-ish (6:30); having been there early and late, I recommend early. And we'll definitely be back!3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was a pleasant experienceThis was a pleasant experience with excellent food. We had not been back in 4 or 5 years because of the remarkably indifferent service we had. This time the service was excellent, but the manager was his same old miserable self. An angry impatient manager can really cast a pall on a place like this.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMOur experience was wonderful! Our experience was wonderful! The food was excellent as always, the waitstaff delightful and accomodating, and sitting in the red room made our dining experience quite enjoyable.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food.
