The service at Vin Room was appalling. The food is good, but small plates should come together to the table, not singly and spaced 15-20 minutes apart. They have a great selection of wine, but it is grossly over-priced. 4 small plates and 2 glasses of wine should not cost $140. We will never go back.

This was our second visit - this time for dinner, the previous time for lunch. Ryan the Sommelier is just great - knows his stuff but never patronizing. The old on both occasions has been superb.

The quality of the food and service was top notch. However, the size of most of the portions was pitifully small, and the prices way too high. I understand that the menu is tapas, but $14 for 2 small scallops is ridiculous.

Overall it was great as always. We find the sommelier very helpful. Only complaint would be that the scallops are not good value. The plate was delicious, but it only came with two tiny scallops.

We had four of the tapas plus the spinach/artichoke dip. Two of the tapas (lobster nachos, scallops) were excellent. Two (both pork) were mediocre at best. Service was the same - the first two dishes and wine came really fast, the last two and the bill came slowly. Price was better than expected ($70 for two including three wine tastes) for modern foodie-type food. We'd go back but order a bit more cautiously.

We ate there on a Sunday night and were pleasantly surprised to find it not that busy. When we got there at 7:10 we were informed that the kitchen would be closing at 8. We ordered food and drinks right away. 25 min later we had received NO food, and the waiter was asking us if we wanted to order anything more before the kitchen closed. We replied that we could not know as we hadn't even had our first apps yet! We had to ASK for some bread to cleanse our palates between wines (as we still had no food) for which we were charged $4 on the bill!!! After the kitchen closed they then told us that the beverage service would also stop soon. Worst date night EVER!!!

I typically do not follow reviews too closely because I find them quite subjective, so I ignored the feedback i had read in advance about the service. I should have listened. The food was quite good but the approximate one hour wait in between the first batch of dishes and the second was much too long. It was also difficult to figure out who our server actually was - we had at least three different servers throughout the night. It took four hours for a group of four to complete our meal - we were not in a hurry by any means, but this was a little ridiculous. Fortunately the food was good, but not good enough to make me sit through another meal there.

Overall nice experience except for an inattentive server who never approached my wife when she arrived later than I did. Finally had to ask for service at the bar. Food was tasty and moderately priced. Menu confusion though. One dish was named Paella Arancini but when brought to our table was presented as Risotto Balls. We sent it back. This was OUR mistake. We should have read the details more closely. We expected Paella. Later we asked for our Paella and was told we cancelled it. Our server was clearly upset. In fact we paid our bill with another server. We left and saw our original server outside smoking. Nice decor, could use some sound baffling, and a tight squeeze between the bar and tables in some spots. We will return.

I was worried after reading all the reviews about poor service and long wait times for food. Vin must have stepped up their game because we had great service and all of our food came out at the perfect time. The food was pretty good but we will definitely be going back to try some other things on the menu. Scallops were by far the best.

I LOVE the Vin Room for the wine and tapas so Sunday brunch sounded good. The fixed menu featured two salads and a choice of Trout (our choice), Prime Rib and Chicken & Apple sausages for the main with a rhubarb Pavlova for dessert. The salads were fresh with a light dressing on both. The main course was a disappointing with the trout a little over-cooked and the squash was undercooked (VERY firm), and although we had told the server I have a wheat allergy we were also served pasta. I found the Pavlova a little firm and too sweet for my taste but the hubby enjoyed his. We opted for the wine pairing which was nice enough but we didn't really hit the mark for either our main or dessert. Although adequate we will stick to the tapas!

There were only 3 groups in the restaurant for lunch and our appetizer took over 30 minutes to come out. When we got our lunch we had to send back 2 of the 3 dishes. When we got them back the sandwich buns were so burnt they were inedible. During this process our server never stopped by to see how everything was and when we got the bill he tried to charge us for things we didn't order. We will not be returning and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Been here many times but I am not sure what happened. Waited 20 min before even being asked if we wanted water let alone wine. It took over 15 min each time to get a drink after it was ordered. Lamb was over cooked. Poor service due to them being understaffed really ruined the experience.

Nice place but unfriendly service and music too loud for lunch. Only two other customers in the place and asked waitress if she could turn the music down - she was not very obliging. Plus at no time did she ask if we wanted a refill on our coffee which would have been nice with our lunch. There are lots of other places with better service that I can spend my money on. Otherwise excellent wine and food menu.

Another great evening do dining with friends. As usual the Vin Room didn't disappoint. The food was great and the wine was fantastic. The thing I like the most is the owner Phoebe, walking around conversing with the patrons. Class act all around. The only negative thing I would say about our evening was they were temporarily out off the eggplant crisps, and when we asked about them the waiter said he would check with the kitchen, but never followed up with us.

I'm a big fan of Vin Room Mission so I was excited to try Vin Room West, a little closer to home. The biggest let down for me was the service. It wasn't bad but it wasn't the outstanding level of service I've come to expect from Mission. When I asked for wine recommendations I didn't get the sense that the person I spoke with knew what they were talking about. (I think the sommelier was unavailable). Later, when we ordered a cheese plate I was hoping our server or the chef or the sommelier could select some options for us to pair with our wine. The server just read me the chef's selection for the day and left me to decide for myself. I'm definitely going to go back but keeping my fingers crossed for a more higher calibre of service.

Neither the waitstaff nor the kitchen staff were on it. The dish we went for (a menu staple) was out. The waiter used a Subway reference to describe the lobster roll (that's when I knew to give up on any expectations) and the service was unbearably slooooow. There were only 4 tables and 2 waitstaff. One of the staff felt the need to share who was at another table (a local politician we could have cared less about). The wine, while good, lacks a Canadian presence and is ridiculously priced. The food - blah. Please put lobster in your lobster roll and try not to cheap out.

We came with a group of 8- I had been to Vin Room West before in smaller groups of 2 or 3, and I think this is a restaurant better suited to small groups. It was very noisy, making it hard to have a conversation. The food was excellent but we had to order multiple orders of everything to make sure everyone got a chance to try- the portions are quite small! They seemed to be a bit under staffed as well- it was hard to get service. Overall I would go back but not in a large group.

This was our second bad experience at this Vin Room and it will be our last! Food was terrible and although we were ordering 3-4 dishes at a time, we waited over 40 minutes and was served 1 dish for a table of four people. We spent close to four hours at the restaurant and ended up sending two dishes back as they were not edible. The kitchen obviously needs more help or training.

I admit I was tentative about going to Vin Room West with my husband and another couple and wasn't sure about tapas for dinner and having enough to eat. But after having a wonderful time with awesome food and excellent and attentive service, we won't hesitate to go back! Danielle, our server, was the friendliest we have ever encountered, knowledgable about the wines and menu. She explained the process and gave recommendations. A nice variety and each dish came out at just the right time. We began with the Chef's 5 selection charcuterie and cheese to begin with, ordered 5 tapas plates plus the salad and were pleasantly full, but not so much that we were also able to share two delicious desserts. We will return to this neighbourhood gem.

My wife and I went out for a celebration and to try a bunch of different wines. We had a fantastic evening and Kyle, I believe the manager, was fantastic. He I extremely knowledgable about his wine stock. He also made some great pairing and dessert ideas. Even convinced my wife to try ermite for dessert a pretty impressive feat. It was quiet and a good little tapa's joint. I recommend it absolutely. Although the pork ribs are kind boring.
