Vin Room is Calgary's premier wine bar offering over 100 wines by the taste. With the help of the Enomatic Wine Preservation System, we can guarantee variety and freshness as well.

Our wines are complemented by our tapas menu, focusing on fresh, local ingredients with a global twist. We offer tapas that are seasonal, wine focused and flavorful.

Vin Room was one of Enroute Magazine's Top 25 Hot Spots in Canada, an Open Table Diner’s Choice Award Recipient, and received a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for three years in a row. Vin Room was named one of Avenue Magazine's Top Restaurants of 2012.

We are located at 2310-4th St. SW (Old Mission Cycle Building); just a short cab ride from downtown and the Stampede Grounds. Rooftop patio open (weather permitting) on a first come, first served basis.

  • "The food and wine was fabulous, but our waitress was terrible. We dined Saturday night at 9:15 and our waitress was tacky and unprofessional. She did not know the wine list at all and proceeded to tell us she didn't like sparkling wine so she couldn't reccomend anything. When the wine arrived, she was extremely unprofessional in presenting it and she swore when she spilled a little. The food was fabulous, but if Vin Room wants to be elite in a wine and tapas genre, they need to find people that reflect their image."

  • "It was a hot sunny day so we had to move from full sun to a table in the shade. luckily the patio was not full. we both had the salade nicoise. it was good although the overly-large leafs of romaine lettuce were hard to manage. It was not a true salade nicoise as it was missing the anchovies. The tuna was only lightly grilled on the outsides (could have done with another minute) and a bit flavourless. The wine was delicious and the service was excellent."

  • "Vin Room Mission has an excellent wine list and the food is very good - excellent. The service was not as commendable as the food, however on my particular visit recently on a Monday evening. It took at least 20 minutes after we were seated and received our menus before a server approached our table. The restaurant was only sparsely filled as well. Once that difficult beginning was passed, however, the server was attentive and helpful."

  • "Sat out on the rooftop patio and enjoyed the view and the ambience. Looks like some great tables inside as well for groups or a romantic evening. Tried a number of dishes and all were flavourful. Meatballs and scallops were favourites at our table. Had a couple of mix ups with the food but it was very quickly rectified and luckily we were in no hurry. Advised the waitress of the type of wine I wanted and her suggestion was perfect. We would go again."

  • "My boyfriend an I went to Vin room for a date night and loved it! They sat us side by side which was really nice and great for sharing. We shared 5 tapas (Merguez Meatballs, Pistachio Crusted Scallops, Braised Pork Short Ribs, Paprika Grilled Prawns, and Grilled AAA Flatiron Steak) and a desert (Gluten Free Dark Chocolate & Hazlenut Praline). Everythings was fabulous! Also a great spot for those looking for gluten free menu items. Many of the items on the menu are already gluten free and many others can be made gluten free. We really enjoyed our evening there."

  • "Went with a friend specifically for a patio lunch. Upstairs patio is great, colorful and comfortable, options of shade or sun. Choice of fresh or sparkling, chose sparkling, find out later they charge for it. EVERY restaurant that I have gone to that had a water choice has NEVER charged me for sparkling - do we have to ask every time whether the water is free or not??!! Chose cheese and charcuterie platter to share, 3 meat, 2 cheese. All was tasty, but not much for $6 per unit = $30. Bread was never refreshed. Drank a rose, first glass had a stem, second glass did not, waitress said they did not want broken glass. Manager tells us it is because of wind - then get heavier based stemmed glasses or get plastic ones. It was a totally calm day."

  • "The food was fantastic but the service was so so; they forgot to bring us several dishes we ordered. My biggest issue is the extra charges. If I'm going to spend $100s of dollars on a dinner I should not be charged for pickled vegetables that accompanied one of the dishes when I didn't even know it was not part of the dish. I was charged for extra shrimp because we had four people and the dish came with three shrimp, not normally a big issue, but I was not asked first. When the bill came I was charged for a second glass of white wine that the waiter brought over because he pored red wine into the white wine glass - come on. If you're generous with your customers your customer will be generous with you and not write reviews like this one."

  • "The quality of the food and service at the Vin Room certainly isn't what it used to be. A number of the items on the wine list wasn't available, the food was good, but the service was a bit disappointing. Our bread that was supposed to accompany the charcuterie board came out midway through our dinner when the charcuterie board was pretty much all finished, even though we specifically asked for it at the time we ordered. Overall my impression is that it is too expensive for the quality delivered."

The wine list was a good mix of approachable, moderately priced wines, some value items, and a number wines that were on my list of 'I wish I could afford to drink that'.   • "If you haven't been to Vin Room yet run, don't walk. They have a wonderful tapas menu and a huge selection of wines by the glass or by the taste if you'd like to try first. We have always had a great night when eating here and the upstairs, outdoor patio is a treat when you get lucky enough to find room up there. The service is as delightful as their food with servers being highly knowledgeable in both the wines they offer and the dishes they serve. After a summer walk through charming Mission it's a lovely way to end the day."

I like the fact that wines are available in different sized portions allowing one to sample small amounts of different wines or just order larger a larger quantity."

  • "We had the chickpea fritters, pea seared scallops and lobster nachos. Fritters were great-crispy on the outside, warm & soft on the inside. They were seasoned well.The walnut sauce is inspired. The yogurt sauce is a middle eastern classic, done differently but well. Pan seared scallops were a good idea executed badly. As happens so often in Calgary, the scallops were just trashed in the cooking process, rubbery mess. It was clearly a matter of the grill or pan not being hot enough for the proper sear and the fish staying on too long. I think Lobster nachos need a makeover. The chips aren't warm, hot sauce drips to the bottom and is too hot for a dish with lobster, that level of heat over shadows the sweetness of the shellfish."

  • " What a treat - enormous variety of outstanding and creative dishes: Shrimp paprika, Lobster nachos, Pork Belly lettuce wrap. Lamb Chops - amazing, Pork Short Ribs, Scallops - pistachio crusted, Chicken Wings with an outstanding sauce: olive, saffron,tomatoes, and other ingredients, Babaganoush (eggplant) and cheese and artichoke dips with bread crisps, Suggest ordering their scrumptious homemade bread for dipping in various sauces. We had 11 choices and four of us were sated. Only (minor)negative comment is they charged $2 for the bread - a head scratcher on a $300 meal for four including several rounds of wine/beer. The overall experience was worth it. "

  • "Special compliments to the chefs at Vin Room Mission for a memorable dinner: mussels & chorizo; duck and white bean cassoulet. Both dishes were a treat. The service was very good with helpful advice given about menu items and wines. Our waiter was knowledgeable and he did not hover as some are wont to do these days. I would not hesitate to recommend the VR Mission to anyone. Location, cuisine and service are three reasons to dined there."

The wine guy was very knowledgeable and helpful, he found us the perfect bottle of wine that satisfied both of our tastes. Although we had troubles deciphering the menu to determine whether the items were appetizers or meals the food was very good (I totally loved the flat iron steak). The service was great, although it was a bit different with multiple people servicing us the whole evening."

  • "I attended with a group of 5. This our first time at Vin room and we had an amazing time. The ambience of this place is fantastic, the food was delicious and a lot of fun to share with everyone. We sampled several tapas including the chef's selection and meat and cheese platter and everything was wonderful. We also tried a few bottles of champagne and prosecco at the advice of our server and we weren't disappointed. My favourite was the sparkling rosa. The service was great, very friendly and helpful and even paused to take a photo for us. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for an exceptional evening out."

  • "We went there for the Taste of YYC. We split their dinner menu and had a few other appetizers. The food was amazing. Lots of different flavors in each item we ordered. It was hard to decide on which item to order so we will be going back to try some of the other tapas. The service was excellent and their suggestions we great."

  • "Restaurants participating in The Big Taste must want to lure new diners to become repeat customers. This restaurant perhaps doesn't particularly care. The salad wasn't bad, a little under-seasoned and/or under-dressed. The sandwich was tasty while remaining ordinary. The presentation was utterly devoid of any creativity. And the dessert - well, they'd run out of it. But we were offered a substitute, a peanut butter brûlée. One. For two of us. I questioned that, and the waitress said, the brûlée was larger than the other, non-existent dessert. To the waitress's (Bridget) credit, she brought another brûlée. Lunch at Charcut the day before enabled me to compare the two. Charcut wins - creativity, taste, service, ambiance, presentation!"

  • "I took my significant other out for her birthday and the experience was better than any gift she'd received. This restaurant will satisfy a veteran foodie and wow anyone new to the scene. The cocktails were delicious and the food exquisite. I read the rave reviews of the lobster nachos and was not disappointed. The menu has so many options that it left me wanting to come back and try more - I didn't even get to try the meatballs!"
