Diner Reviews
  • "We had the filet cooked medium with double spinach as the side. My husband got the Bayou Shrimp over rice & asparagus as his side. For our appetizer, we enjoyed the crab dip....heavenly!!!! Everything was cooked & prepared to perfection. Great flavors cooked on the filet and it was so tender, I didn't need a knife. Melt in your mouth delicious. Highly recommend"

  • "Our order was given to the waiter and specific dietary requests were made because of a health issue. The chef did not follow the specific instructions and the food came out over-salted and buttery. It was requested to be cooked with absolutely no salt and steamed. The communication between the waitstaff and the cook, was not good. Also, once complained about, the fish was not fixed and the bill was not adjusted. Not a good experience and will not return when in the Greensboro area again."

  • "As usual, we had a wonderful evening at the Village Tavern. Don't miss the blueberry martini and make sure to ask for Amy to serve you. She's awesome. Very professional and knowledgeable."

  • "The fish itself was great. The batter is described as beer batter. I was expecting a thicker, crunchier coating."

  • "This was our first visit...and we couldn't have been made happier in any possible way! In our OpenTable reservation we listed the following seating preference...large booth...away from busing stations and kitchen...at or near a window or along a wall!] We were seated at Booth #23...which was EXACTLY what we wanted! Each of our selections from the menu were delicious...sequence of delivery and food preparation perfect...& delivered with a smile and an inquiry from the server to assure that we didn't need anything further. You only have one opportunity to make a good first impression...and Village Tavern hit every mark in the center of the bullseye! The Tavern is now on our short list of regular places to dine...with or without a reason!"

  • "My friends and family have been meeting at the village tavern for more than ten years and over that time I have always found the food to be great with a price for everyone to live with. The service has always been wonderful also."

  • "I usually shy away from giving a bad review when I have had a single bad experience, but had two bad dining experiences at recently. For many many years, I have had good experiences dining at Village Tavern and the service and food were good. First recent visit, the service was very poor and the food was mediocre. A week later, I took more family there thinking that any restaurant could have a bad night with a single waiter or with the chef staff. The second time, service was fine, but the food was poor. Remembering good shrimp/grits, my wife and I ordered it again. It was very poor, with the shrimp floating in an oil bath that gave me a rare case of heartburn. I was very disappointed on both trips and will be reluctant to try it again."

  • "Several of my friends came down from Virginia and I met them at VT for dinner. We had a fantastic waiter and the crab cakes were to die for. We will certainly meet there again soon."

  • " Greeter was rude! Fortunately we dine here frequently and after that had great service and the food was delicious. Our reservation was on Father's Day and it showed on the staff that they had a busy day. However, our server, Lauren, was delightful and attentive. My husband really enjoyed. Food is always good!"

  • "We ate at Village Tavern for lunch on Father's Day. We had a group of 7 and had reservations. We were seated near the hostess stand at a large round table. Our waiter was VERY nice came by frequently. The downside is that it took over an hour to get our food AFTER we got our appetizer. Our table ordered predominantly sandwiches and salads. The waiter was very kind and kept coming over apologizing. I am unsure if our order was lost, not put in or if the kitchen was just THAT slow. I have dined at Village Tavern before for a wedding rehearsal dinner for 50 people all ordered off the menu and they were exponentially faster than they were on father's day for lunch. Good food but the speed for what we ordered was very disappointing."

  • "Server was not engaged and we felt like he wanted to move us through our meal and get out. Lacked etiquette. Not likely to return."

  • "Change in menu item disappointing. Grilled tilapia always had a delicious wine sauce, new sauce is mango salsa which overpowers flavor of the tilapia. Hopefully with private note to restaurant, this will change."

  • "Happy to be there on a Thursday to again appreciate the Potato/Leek soup. Most all of us ordered the favorite Crab Cakes! Restaurant cordially changed the reservation from 8 to 10, by phone."

  • "With a reservation we had no wait. The food was excellent. My prime rib was cooked just the way I had asked it to be and my wife's crab cakes were great. Our waitress was very personable, friendly and took care of all of our requests. Wine is very reasonable. We did not have to shout at each other to carry on with a conversation which is very important to me. Relaxing atmosphere. "

  • "I had the bacon and brie omelette and it was delicious. Definitely one of my favorite brunch spots in Greensboro. I went on a Sunday around lunch time so it was busy as expected, but there were long periods of time when I did not see my waitress. I ran out of water and it was never refilled which is a big pet peeve for me when dining out. I have eaten here several times and this was the first time I had a complaint about the service. "

  • "We dined at Village Tavern this weekend. It was my grandmothers 93 birthday. We wanted a spot that had a varied menu and proven track records. Once again, VT did not disappoint. The menu has been updated and successfully so. Affordable wine selection, great beer assortment and quality service continues to be strong points for the restaurant. "

  • "Not a first time visit to VT but it has been a while. The menu had changed and choices were a little lackluster. She-crab soup and spinach salad with grilled chicken was good but "caprese" appetizer was not. Service was good but ran out of water a few times before it was refilled. Overall experience was good and I will go back eventually."

  • "This was our Mothers Day and Birthdays Celebration with our family. We simply love Village Tavern. It is one of our favorite dining venues. Our waitress JADE was very good. . she was right there if we needed anything. Our food came in a timely fashion and we were not rushed. We will be back to Village Tavern in the not too distant future. . Thanks for a great evening!!!! "

  • "The food was great, but the waitress was terrible. It took thirty minutes for us to receive our drinks. At the end of our meal I was going to lay down the tip, but before I did the waitress had remarks. She stated "You all do know the tip wasn't included right?" After walking slowly around our table she then said "And its not in our paychecks either." Her rude tone was extremely frustrating. She was left a penny and we left angry before prom."

  • "My two guests were favorably impressed with the restaurant ambiance, food and excellent service. Since this was their first visit to the Greensboro area, they were delighted with the dining experience. It will not be their last, even if I'm not the one making the reservation!"

  • "The night we went, we had reservations for 6:30. They had a party to call in for 150 people so this delayed our reservation time. They were so good to us about having to wait. They gave us a free appetizer and once we did get seated we had to "wait no more". It was great! "

  • "We've been to Village Tavern for Mother's Day brunch and loved it, but this time we came for dinner. Outdoor dining is wonderful and menu choices are excellent. I loved the delicious tilapia/pasta Gluten-free option, and other family members enjoyed the crab cake sandwich. Service was excellent. "
