From the moment you enter Village Tavern it is all about the great service. Greeting you with a smile and seating people where they wish if at all possible. Their waitstaff is incredible . . they are very familiar with the wine list and other beverages and have tried most of the items on the menu. . they are flexible with substitutions within reason and are always available to refill your water glass or get you a refill of a drink or soft beverage. . Our waiter Garret was excellent . . . We have to say that Village Tavern is our favorite restaurant and we will be headed back there soon. Thank you for another delicious and delightful dining experience.

I ordered my favorite, marinated flank steak, we sat outside on the patio. I wish the restaurant would get cushions for outside, those chairs are metal and not very comfortable. The last time I got the flank steak outside, it was fatty, as it was again this time. Since it was lunchtime, i didn't send those pieces back, just ate them anyway. The marinade was excellent, as was the black beans, I never get the French fries that come with it. This time, I ordered the cooked spinach, and it was very good.

It was pretty slow as weekday nights go. We had appetizers and drinks which seemed to set the mood for an great up coming meal. We had never eaten here before. But the entrees took some time even after we were done with the appetizer. The steaks we ordered were just below great. They were good but just under the temp we ordered and they totally forgot the steak toppings we asked to add. After that the waitress was practically MIA. Maybe a half hour later we saw here and tried to get the check. Overall an average place. Maybe they have better nights.

We had the filet cooked medium with double spinach as the side. My husband got the Bayou Shrimp over rice & asparagus as his side. For our appetizer, we enjoyed the crab dip....heavenly!!!! Everything was cooked & prepared to perfection. Great flavors cooked on the filet and it was so tender, I didn't need a knife. Melt in your mouth delicious. Highly recommend

Our order was given to the waiter and specific dietary requests were made because of a health issue. The chef did not follow the specific instructions and the food came out over-salted and buttery. It was requested to be cooked with absolutely no salt and steamed. The communication between the waitstaff and the cook, was not good. Also, once complained about, the fish was not fixed and the bill was not adjusted. Not a good experience and will not return when in the Greensboro area again.

As a long time patron of the Village Tavern I truly can say that "Never" have I been disappointed...I have had Brunch, Lunch, Dinner, Cocktails with appetizers. From the moment of arrival the experience was outstanding! I NEVER even consider other restaurants when I have guests in town, which once they have been there they always want to go back... Can't say enough but I am lucky to have this establishment as my "neighborhood gem"!!! Cindy

This was our first visit...and we couldn't have been made happier in any possible way! In our OpenTable reservation we listed the following seating preference...large booth...away from busing stations and kitchen...at or near a window or along a wall!] We were seated at Booth #23...which was EXACTLY what we wanted! Each of our selections from the menu were delicious...sequence of delivery and food preparation perfect...& delivered with a smile and an inquiry from the server to assure that we didn't need anything further. You only have one opportunity to make a good first impression...and Village Tavern hit every mark in the center of the bullseye! The Tavern is now on our short list of regular places to dine...with or without a reason!

I usually shy away from giving a bad review when I have had a single bad experience, but had two bad dining experiences at recently. For many many years, I have had good experiences dining at Village Tavern and the service and food were good. First recent visit, the service was very poor and the food was mediocre. A week later, I took more family there thinking that any restaurant could have a bad night with a single waiter or with the chef staff. The second time, service was fine, but the food was poor. Remembering good shrimp/grits, my wife and I ordered it again. It was very poor, with the shrimp floating in an oil bath that gave me a rare case of heartburn. I was very disappointed on both trips and will be reluctant to try it again.
