  • "Was accompanied by our in laws who had a bad experience at Village Tavern during their last visit. Well, we convinced them it must have been a fluke. They accompanied us and we all agreed we had great meals, good service and a good time. We will continue to go back - Village Tavern is one of our favorites. Good menu and value for the $$$$."

  • "I had fish and chips, the cod was excellent, french fries hot, too many. Cole flaw nice and crunchy. My husband had the meatloaf which he thought was VG. Al in all it was a nice meal, we had not been there on a long time and forgot how good the food is. Had also been renovated nicely done."

  • "Love the renovations! I've always loved the patio but the new look inside will encourage me to come in the months when the patio is closed."

  • "Nice selection of foods for brunch. We enjoyed the omelettes!"

  • "We were on our way to South Park Mall and we were early. Popped open Yelp and found this restaurant. Booked on Open Table and were not disappointed. The brunch menu checked all the boxes and the fruit was fresh. The restaurant was about 60% full and the food still arrived in a timely manner. Enjoyed myself immensely. A must if you are in the area!"

  • "Nice outdoor dining area, but they allow smoking there. So, if you are a non-smoker, you could be down-wind from smoke. We have to stay indoors for this reason. Pricing quirks: Steaks come with 2 sides. Sides a-la-carte cost $4 to $4.50. A-la-carte salads cost $6.25. But if you substitue a salad for one side, they charge $5.50. The math does not work; the up-charge should be only $2. When I feel like I am being ripped-ff, the entire experience suffers. I have been dining at VT for 7 years. They used to GIVE you a salad as a side with a steak. Then the upcharges began. Now the upcharge is so offensive, I may just avoid the place. And, prices keep creeping up. VT used to be a real value. Now, it is a bit high for its genre."

  • "Love it! One of my Favs! Josh waited on us, he's sweet, nice, attentive! Just right on it! Hostesses/hosts are nice, bartenders are friendly, even managers are helpful! Great food!"

  • "I love the new renovations. Everything looks great. The food is consistently good. However, the last two times we have been there the French fries we ordered as a side were raw. Squishy, soggy masses of potatio. While they look great in the little dish and they seasoned nicely with sea salt, that can't cover up the fact that they aren't cooked. we will know from now on to specify that the fries be cooked before brought to the table."

  • "Still a favorite after all these years! Always delicious, best patio in Charlotte."

  • "I took my boyfriend there for his birthday. We were impressed with the menu selections. We ordered two entrees from the speciality section (St Louis Ribs & Bayou Shrimp)...amazing!"

  • "Always have a great experience at this restaurant. The constructive feedback I could give is for some reason food was more salty than normal and they were out of several of the by the glass special red wines. Not earth shattering but unusual for this restaurant."

  • "We had brunch Eastee Sunday w/15family members, and they accommodated us, were super friendly, food was great, and we had a terrific time! "

  • "This is one of our favorite restaurants in Charlotte's South Park area. It's a safe "go to place" when meeting friends who like to spend - more than you or less than you - because the menu offers diversity on both price and dining options. We especially enjoy their salads - fresh, large, and delicious. The service is excellent with well trained, experienced servers. They go the extra step to ensure you're OK, and follow up unobtrusively. The recent renovations this winter opened up the walls, affording lovely views. The new outdoor dining veranda w/ it's fire pits looks super inviting - we can't wait for the weather to warm up so we can stop by with friends to dine al fresco! "

  • "We had planned to eat at Cheesecake Factory, but facing a 1 hour wait and with young kids, we needed to quickly find an alternative option. We'd never been to the Village Tavern before but they were able to accommodate us, provided an excellent meal with good drink selection to accompany. The service could have been a little faster, as we were sat inside on an evening that the patio was very busy but the overall ambience and experience was very good. I'm sure we will return in the future."

  • "Since the complete makeover of the interior and the menu Village Tavern has really climbed up in quality and experience. A great place for lunch and evening drinks followed by dinner. Casual yet with a touch of class -- marble topped tables, booths around the exterior, lots of light indoors and also a huge outdoor patio. Menu has been updated and offers a wide variety of choices. Prices are quite reasonable... Give this a shot... much better than the other nearby popular local Harpers.."

  • "We had a great lunch. Our waiter was very personable and attentive. Great meal and prices are good for the quantity of food they serve. Can be a little noisy when crowded but still one of our favorite restaurants."

  • "The Village Tavern used to be a hot spot for the over 20 crowd and one that I frequented 20-25 years ago. A group of my friends and I recently had a 25 year flight attendant reunion and met at the Tavern for brunch the following day, a trip down memory lane. The restaurant has been updated and the décor is on the upscale side of casual....perfect! The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. I am so glad to have re-discovered the Village Tavern and have had brunch/lunch there twice since our reunion in January 2014."

  • "I took my valentine out to the Village Tavern and it was a great experience. The hostess was very pleasant and we were spoken to immediately upon seating. Our waitress seemed attentive but did get one thing wrong on each of our dishes. Neither was a big deal and the food was very good. Will definitely go back!"

  • "The food was outstanding and presented very well. I got some steak sauce on my shirt and as I was trying to clean it off myself the manager was right there with a glass club soda. Bravo!!!!!"

  • "I found Village Tavern a couple of years ago during restaurant week. I was impressed then. They have renovated since then. I decided to check Village Tavern out with a friend for lunch. It was just as good as I remembered. I am still impressed. Food is delicious. Price is reasonable. Atmosphere is great. I absolutely love it!"

  • "We thought the Village Tavern had done a fabulous job on their renovations. Place was much lighter, brighter and more welcoming than ever. Lunch was a very good experience. Our choices for lunch were the crab cakes (tasty!) and the cheeseburger (another good choice!); both were delicious and plated to appeal the eyes. Service was speedy enough for the lunch time crunch. We were pleased and hopeful with the "new" interior the restaurant will keep this high rating as a permanent fixture. If you have not been to Village Tavern, give 'em a try. At lunch we were pleased."

  • "5 of us eat here at twice a month after church on Sunday and because we live in Cornelius any time we are in south park, we stop for lunch. We love the new renovations, the service is outstanding, and the food - try everything because it is all delicious. If you haven't been here before, you are definitely missing some of the best food in Charlotte."

  • "The place was packed but good not so good. Ordered a rib eye and was bland. Baked potato was dry. Wife's sea bass was undercooked. Not impressed at all."

  • "We were disappointed. We got a booth right behind the hostess station, and our service was fair. We have been going to this restaurant for 18 years, and it used to be really good. My husband's meatloaf was charred on the edges and so were my kids' burgers. We would use this restaurant for a special occasion anymore."

  • "Haven't been here but once since their renovation and the menu has changed somewhat. Not a disappointment...food was great! Have been dining at Village Tavern since they opened way back when...moved a little out of the area but am delighted to see it is still a great "go to" dining spot. ...and the sweet potato fries are like sweet potato pie...yummy!"

  • "We had a yummy meal. Our son, who's picky, enjoyed a Caesar's salad and flatbread, while the vegetarian had a wonderful veggie burger and I had the most delicious spaghetti squash entree off of the gluten-free menu. Our server was very attentive and made the meal that much more enjoyable. We will definitely seek out other Village Tavern locations."

  • "Great food selections, and great tasting food, coupled with a wonderful selection of wines. Went on Wednesday so wine was half-price, Can't beat that. Every time we eat there, we wonder why we don't get there more often. It should be on everyone's list for great places to eat in Charlotte."

  • "The food was tasty and well presented. I was raised in New England; so recognized the New England clam chowder was truly "New England". The salmon was seasoned and grilled for a great taste."

  • "Group of 6 - some enjoyed Queens' Feast. ALL menu items were excellent as was the service. Absolutely will go back. Shrimp & grits ...New England Clam Chowder...caprese salad, crab cakes... - all fantastic!"

  • "This was the second year in row that I chose Village Tavern for my birthday dinner. Once again, they didn't disappoint! They've remodeled both their restaurant and menu since last year, and while I was sad to see a few things go, they've replaced them with delicious updates! I usually get the meatloaf, but decided to try the crispy chicken tacos. Very tasty! The staff was professional and attentive, can't say enough good things!"

  • "We have always considered the Village Tavern's patio one of the best in Charlotte. However, we rarely went there in the cold weather as the inside was dated and dull. The renovation with the removal of that wall and the updated decor now make this a terrific four season local spot. The food is consistently good, service professional but friendly and the varied menu, great for us who don't eat meat. Love the half price wine night!"

  • "I had a 7pm reservation but was not seated until 7:30! Two managers were on duty that evening but neither said one word to me after I complained to the hostess on several occasions. This is a very good, and generally a well run restaurant, but these two managers need some training in customer service!!!"

  • "We chose The Village Tavern for an evening out. My fiance ordered an end cut of Prime rib, which was on special as "Surf and Turf". It was so grainy and full of gristle. He asked for it Med rare. It was very rare. The gluten free was pretty good. I have celiac disease so I had a good selection. I wish there was more gluten free desserts to be offered."

  • "We've eaten at Village Tavern both here in Charlotte and in other cities for more than 20 years, so we knew the food would be exceptional on this visit. What we didn't know is that a complete remodel has taken the Village Tavern to a new level! The pub-like interior was replaced with a sleek, modern look. It's still warm and inviting with lots of candles, but the seating is more intimate. That is, except for the very long table near the bar that looks like it could seat 20 people! It looked like large and smaller groups were sharing the table. Now on to the food - a new menu kept some of the old favorites (Crab Cakes) but added several salads, seafood dishes, and even some new desserts (save room for the Warm Butter Cake!)."
