We had another great experience at the Village Tavern. The Valet Service was very nice. Our hostess was courteous and welcoming. Our server, David, was helpful and attentive. The Ahi Tuna appetizer was great, and our entrees were delicious. This restaurant is just consistent in its quality. Thanks for another good night!

I enjoyed the ambiance here very much. They had a nice roaring fire on a cold night, exposed wood beams, and a great view of their open kitchen. Booths were deep with plenty of leg room. It did still feel like I was at a modern restaurant however instead of at a true village tavern. Food was decently priced with a good wine selection, but they were out of one of their two vegetarian options early on a Saturday night. Appetizers, at least the two that we got, were generous in size. They cook a steak to correct specifications (a medium rare is just that). Their mac and cheese is delicious but rich. Service was nothing impressive, but with few flaws. Attentive and courteous. Knew the specials and had recommendations for which sides and appetizers were good. However, I was unimpressed with his wine service. He dribbled wine multiple times on the table and our menus when serving. Additionally, before I had approved the wine, he was already pouring the rest of my party's glasses. Overall though, these are minor details, but they prevent me from giving outstanding ratings to their service. The noise level is very tolerable, even with several groups holding their high school's semi-formal dance dinner there. I could still converse with my party without having to strain either my ears or my voice. In conclusion, a good restaurant to enjoy for a decent price. I would return.

While visiting B'ham on a recent business trip, we discovered the Village Tavern on OpenTable and asked about it at our hotel. The staff gave it good recommendations and told us how close it was to our location. It was a half-mile away and a great find. The wood burning fireplace immediately stimulates your senses. The wait staff were very attentive and the food was fantastic. Who knew that Irish Pimento Cheese would make such a great fondue followed up by seafood pasta with Andouille sausage. It made these south Louisiana folks feel right at home.

The food was delicious! And when we came in, the fire place was already on. So, it felt very comfortable and cozy inside. Our waitress was really nice and helpful, so thanks to her as well! I got the veggie burger, which I liked a lot. I'm just not the biggest fan of teriyaki sauce, but it was okay. The sweet potato fries (omg!). A little too sweet, but they were alright.

This was our 1st visit to the Village Tavern. The overall experience was very satisfying. About the only drawback was the service was a little slow and some of the food ordered was not served hot as though it might have waited a few minutes prior to be being served, however the taste was great.

The appetizers were fine- calamari, crab dip and bruschetta. The entrees were mediocre- a tasteless hamburger, "flatbread" pizza that was regular hand tossed pizza, the ahi tuna salad was seared correctly. Our waitress wasn't old enough to bring us our cocktails and apparently no one cared enough to help her. Our pre dinner drinks took 15 minutes to get and wine with dinner came with the check. We sent it back. I would avoid the Village Tavern and go to another area restaurant. There are plenty- Cheesecake Factory, PF Changs, Johnny Rockets to name a few.

There wasn't anything special about it. I am a broccoli lover and it appeared that my broccoli was overcooked or scarched. The macaroni was pretty good but almost slightly dry. It wasn't at all what I expected. I was trying a new restaurant but should've just went to my regular Cheesecake Factory or PF Chang for my birthday. The waiter was excellent. He was very nice and patient.

This is an excellent restaurant for all occasions. We were there for our 10th year anniversary. We dressed formal while others were in shorts & flip flops. Excellent PrimeRib as well as other menu items. We have been here for the last 4 years on our anniversary & will be back by next year. All the server's were excellent as well. :)

We recently had a wonderful experience at Village Tavern. Our waiter suggested a nice bottle of wine, which was fine considering Wednesdays are 1/2 priced bottles! The warm crab dip tasted extremely fresh! I don't usually order steak at restaurants, but the special for the night was a ribeye with blue cheese crumbles and two sides for $40. It was the best steak I have ever had! Also, the portions were generous enough to share with my husband. We left feeling full and happy, and our waiter was wonderful!

We returned this year to celebrate another wedding anniversary, as we have done on precious occasions. We returned here, specifically, because we always enjoy the ambiance and warm, comfortable feel of the restaurant. Our food, as we expected, was prepared to perfection. We ordered steaks, which were tender and succulent, and we enjoyed a nice Cabernet selected from the wine list! The staff was cordial, knowledgeable and professional; also quietly omnipresent when needed, yet unobtrusive when a modicum of solitude was desired. We enjoyed this dining experience very much, which ensured additional return visits, even without a special occasion to celebrate! Thanks to everyone!

We've eaten brunch here often and food and service have always been good. First time for dinner and food was OK (my Dad liked his steak so that was good!), and the service was outstanding. It is a very busy, crazy place at night and not some place you would want to go for a quiet, romantic dinner. Prices a bit high compared to some other local, very high-end restaurants, but convenient and thank goodness they offer valet parking. Otherwise you would have to hike for days to get to it! Think we will stick to brunch.
