Good drink menu and great brunch choices! Sat outside and enjoyed pitchers of mimosas while catching up with girlfriends and watching all the people on santana row. So far I've had the ceviche (classic white fish is the best out of the 3) and the breakfast bruschetta...both great dishes! My only gripe is mimosa pitchers were too small with too much ice for $40 each! Definitely would go again!

The food was excellent! Our drinks were exactly as we expected them. We were waiting for friends and thought to order a drink while waiting. After 15 minutes, I had to approach the hostess and ask if we could order drinks. That was the only glitch. We sat outside which is along the street; but it's a semi-closed street; so we didn't care. Inside, the decor and atmosphere is lovely, warm and inviting. The staff is very attentive (other then our drink issue) and knowledgeable. The food is presented in a lovely arrangement and was cooked perfectly. When in the area, we will definitely go back!

We dine at Village Bistro on a regular basis for lunch, brunch, and dinner. The food is very good and the service is always excellent. The restaruant is always neat and clean. I never see vacant messy tables which is a big turn off for me. My wife has notable food allergies and the staff is always gracious in accommodating her restrictions and offering options. Cheers to consistentcy! My expectations are always met at Village Bistro!

This is one of our regular dining locations. However, I am not pleased with the new entree selection. The salmon was dry and the pork chop was bland. I was especially unimpressed with the pork chop. It was literally a dry pork chop on a plate with nothing else on it. The salmon was overcooked, but at least on a bed of a sauce and veggies. Stick to the appetizers until they bring back the other entrees or introduce some more flavorful options.

For being another "California" bistro, the food and ambience are really quite nice and all of the dishes were well-prepared. The service was friendly, and they allowed our group to relax with coffee after our brunch meal. They were very attentive but not overly so. The patio is a bit on the small side, but very pleasant especially if it is hot outside. Also, it was fun to sit on the patio and people-watch on a weekend over a leisurely brunch with mimosas.

Village Bistro was my favorite restaurant on Santana Row, but my friend and I were underwhelmed by the lunch food the other day. The waiter was very friendly and accommodating, but the food was not good. My friend and I ordered two dishes to split. One was the smoked salmon eggs Benedict with basil hollandaise. I didn't care for the croissant type bread they served the eggs on. It was very flakey, but was tasteless. Also the entire dish including the eggs was stone cold. The other entree we split was the tomato wrap with chicken and truffle aioli. It sounded so good, but was really a bland, tasteless wrap. I couldn't taste one hint of truffle, it was dry,the chicken didn't taste fresh so we left it. Not sure about this place now!

I have been to Village Cal Bistro many times and am rarely disappointed. Great cocktails and wine selections partner very well with the menu. I ordered a beautiful french rose to go along with the steak ban me sandwich. Very tasty sandwich and loved the chips. I requested something to dip the in-house made potato chips and add to the sandwich and was brought the wonderful spicy sauce also used in the sandwich. Yum! Leave room for the carrot cake! This is the best one I have ever had and my favorite on the dessert menu. Great service by Heather.

We met friends for brunch and were very impressed with this restaurant. The food was excellent and the service couldn't have been better. We stayed far too long -- hadn't seen our friends for over a year -- and were very comfortable the entire time. The service people were always there when we needed something, but didn't bother us constantly. Each order (4 people, 3 different orders) was generous and tasty. We sat on the side patio, but the front patio and inside looked just as comfortable.

After a grueling drive, my boyfriend arrived in San Jose exhausted and hungry. I chose to make reservations at Village California Bistro after seeing the menu had a diverse selection that included meats, seafoods, pasta, burgers which was sure to satisfy anyone. While the menu had a good variety, it was not extensive; however since each person won't likely be ordering more than one entree at a time, it was perfect. The restaurant was a wonderful choice for dinner since it had indoor and outdoor seating, perfect for a warm summer night. We sat on the side patio where there were light strands that romanticized the atmosphere. The food came in a timely manner and were delicious. Given the cost of natural ingredients the trip was a bit pricier

Food was excellent but they didn't have a record of my reservation, which was disappointing, especially when a hostess called me the day before and asked me to confirm I was coming, which I called back and did. After I explained I got a phone call from the hostess the day before and had an email confirmation I could show them on my phone, they seated me, but it still left a bad taste in my mouth that they had no record of my reservation. Food was very good -- we both had the tuna melts and they were excellent. Service was ok. The waiter forgot to get a glass of water that my mom asked for, and then we had to wait for a long period of time to get the bill and then for the waiter to take the payment. Service and management need to improve.

The Village is a great place for outdoor dining/people watching. Located in the middle of Santana Row, there is a lot of activity with a wide variety of people. The food is quite good and service is up to par. The only negative, nothing to do with the Village, is the some of the dogs walking by are barking and there are patrons that insists on talking, loudly, on their celss phones. One guy actually used his speaker phone.....quite annoying.

Our early lunch was delicious. I had the hamburger (tender and juicy) and my husband had the fish and chips (light, crunchy coating). We sat outside on a beautiful day. The only down side was the lady sitting next to us with the little dog that barked a lot. She thought it was cute. We didn't. Some people are clueless. Please keep your pets at home if you can't control them!! Our waiter, Sid, was fantastic! Very personable and attentive. We enjoyed chatting with him about the area. We'll definitely return.

We once again found ourselves unable to decide on any other restaurant and made the reservation at Village. Their new seasonal menu had just been released and it was wonderful. We started with the Corn Fritters and both had the tomato salad (the salad was almost too big). Both were excellent quality and absolutely delicious. My wife had the forbidden rice curry with prawns and I had the New York steak. Other than the potato wedges being too dense, the food was perfect. Paired with a great wine and we had a wonderful evening. Thanks again for a memorable evening at Santana Row. We will be back!!!!

We enjoyed a most lovely evening at Village, our first time. Our server was friendly, attentive and made wonderful suggestions on our selections. He was warm and engaging with our 3-year old daughter. It was a lovely restaurant, reasonable price point. Every dish from soup, kobe burger, local petrale sole and 4-layer carrot cake was delicately prepared and flavors exceptionally well balanced. Would absolutely come again.

Every time we're here, the cuisine is uniquely delicious. Although there is not a huge selection of vegetarian entrees, which is what we eat, the two or three offered are superb. The wait staff is professional, and the wine list offers unusual California labels: We tried a Carneros chardonnay we'd never heard of, Poseidon, and though it was a bit expensive it was a wonderful find. We always enjoy dinner here!

Had high expectations based on the Santana Row atmosphere, but the food was just inedible. A braised short rib should just pull apart with little more than a few pokes with a fork. The one served at Village Bistro was so rubbery it could have passed for a dog toy -- it was difficult to cut, even with a knife. Great place to sit outside and have a glass of win, but don't eat the food.

We went for Saturday early dinner and had "dinner and a show!" Eat outside at this Santana Row hot spot and you will see everything from regular window shopping couples to trendy nightclub outfitted gal pals. Food was scrumptious as we had the 3 course well priced pre-fixe menu. We chose to forego the wine paring since we weren't familiar with the vintner. By the glass options are local CA and not easy to come by. Highly recommend perusing them at length. My trout was thick and succulent and his beef dish tasty and completely up to snuff. Hardy servings of food allowed us take the carrot cake and flourless chocolate cake home for breakfast the next day. Really busy when the 7.00 hour came so we were relieved for the early seating.

I have been to Village Bistro a number of times and I find myself annoyed by the inconsistency in food and service. It's located in a beautiful spot, making outdoor dining a must, but the brunch this time was not great. I have had a couple of great dinners there, so perhaps this is more their forte. We had an early reservation for brunch and there were only two tables filled outside; however, our server was nowhere to be found.

I have dined at Village California Bistro quite a few times and have been relatively happy, until Mother's Day. I had reservations when the hostess took us to our table, it wasn't ready so we had to stand around for about 10 minutes. When it was being readied, we had no table cloth - just paper hastily put on. We waited at least 15 minutes for anyone to even come over and the wait for the food is an entire different story. Our server was pleasant enough, but obviously had too much to handle. My son wanted to order a hamburger which is usually on the menu and was told it wasn't being served, but when he went to the restroom, another customer had one so... I will have to think twice before I go again.

The menu is diverse enough that my dinner partners' diverse tastes could easily be satisfied. Yet the menu is not so extensive that we were overwhelmed by choices. (In my experience, a long menu means mediocre results.) Our server was a bit overtaxed with too many tables, not all in the same room. As a result, we were somewhat neglected (forgetting one drink order, no attention to fountain drink refills, timeliness of ordering, timeliness of checking on our dining experience, timeliness of every step in receiving and processing the bill, all while he nearly ran around to take care of other tables). The food was fresh, tasty, and well-prepared, but not creative-- great for people who are wary of unfamiliar food combinations.

The Village Bistro has never let us down. The menu is diverse, but local and organic. Love the fact they have options for vegans and carnivores alike. My husband is not that easy to please and he was oohing and aching over his pork loin dinner. Absolutely terrific!
