A word from Village Cafe Lafayette
At Village Café our goal is to serve the finest food in all of Acadiana. We offer a casual dining experience five days a week, Tuesday-Saturday, during the lunch hour, which includes daily specials. We also have special menu for Sunday brunch. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with most tables encircled by walls filled with a wide array of wines at every price point, as well as specialty beers and liquors.

As night begins to fall, the café takes on a more dimly lit upscale ambiance, with white table cloths draped over the wood tables to enhance the dining experience.

Make no mistake, however, that we remain a relaxed dining spot at all times. We cater to the most casual guest but also attract anyone seeking a more elegant experience. From the River Ranch crowd, which often walks to the restaurant, to those driving in from St. Landry, Iberia, St. Martin parishes and all spots in between, everyone feels welcome no matter what time of day they visit us.

  • "We enjoyed a relaxing Friday evening with a wonderful meal, delicious wine, and fantastic service. Even though they usually seat people with reservations inside, ask to be seated outside and enjoy the view of the lovely neighborhood instead. David was our waiter this evening; he is excellent! I highly recommend their apple salad, and I always enjoy the Louisiana Stuffed Fish. Afterward, we walked over to Pour to listen to some music and have a nightcap."

  • "This quaint little restaurant had the most delicious food. Soft shell crab, duck, stuffed fish, and apple walnut salad were so fresh. Brought my husband and teenage daughters. Everything was amazing. We ate indoors but outdoor seating is also available. We will definitely be back again without the kids next time. Two side walls are decorated with bottles of wine that give it an interesting atmosphere. Had the Hess Cabernet and thoroughly enjoyed it. "

  • "At first we were upset as we made our reservation online and specifically requested an outdoor table and when I called to confirm, we were told that the online system automatically places you inside. If this is the case, I feel as if someone should have called to let us know. "

  • "This is a lovely small restaurant with very good food and good service. The salad with apples and Gorgonzola was delicious. When in Lafayette I would definitely return. It's in the upscale River Ranch development and is one of the better restaurants in Lafayette. I would recommend it. "

  • "Very nice atmosphere. Have been before, and always good, but this trip the meal was really excellent. I love Escargot and it was prepared differently than I have ever had them. They were Shallot and Herb Sauteed and served on a Baguette w/ Pernod Butter & melted Jarlsberg. Tender and delicious! For my Entree, I had Snapper with Feta, Grape Tomatoes, artichoke hearts, green onions and Risotto. Just wonderful! My sweetheart loved their popular salad of Mixed Greens. Apple, Pecans and Bleu Cheese & Smoky Bacon Dressing and almost licked the plate of his Entree of stuffed Pompano Pan-Seared w/Lump Crab Stuffing, grilled Squash & Lemon Crab Butter Sauce - Wow! Too full for dessert, but left happy & satisfied!"

  • "I went to Village Café for the second time this weekend. The first time I went to dinner at night and the food and the ambiance was fabulous. This weekend I went for lunch and again, I was not disappointed. We had a group of 5 and everyone loved all the dishes we got. The ambiance, service and drinks were equally outstanding. I'd highly recommend this restaurant to someone who appreciates really good food. "

  • "My associates and I had dinner at this French bistro and thoroughly enjoyed all that we ate. One of my friends said her chicken & pasta dish was the best she's ever eaten. I even talked my friends into trying the steak tartar and they were surprised at how delicious it was. The Village Café Lafayette will be the restaurant I dine at on my next business trip to Lafayette."

  • "Nice little restaurant in River Ranch. We knew it was pricey going in, but it was a special occasion. The food was outstanding (loved the stuffed fish) and the staff was very friendly all around. I wouldn't dine there every week, but I will go back."

  • "Easily some of the best food in the area. Spectacular service."

  • "We were sat in a corner near the walls stocked high with wine, which gives the restaurant a lovely atmosphere. We ordered some cocktails, which were wonderful, and shared 2 appetizers, 1 was the shrimp bowl and the other was the steak tartare with truffle fries. Both were great although the shrimp were my favorite. The truffle fries didn't taste much like truffle fries, more like regular out of the freezer fries. My friend and I shared the duck and mushroom risotto, which was very good. My other friend had the snapper with pecorinno risotto. Thiswas spectacular. I almost wished I had gotten that. The service was also excellent. The waitress Lisa was knowledgeable and friendly and knew exactly what she was doing. I would recommend her."

  • "My wife and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. The service was good, but the waitress seemed a little uninformed about the menu. My wife's steak was good, but the rabbit I had was oversmoked and too salty. However, I will go back and give it a second chance."

  • "Village Cafe has top notch food. Every bite is quality and bursting with flavor. You will not be let down. Also of note is their cocktail list. Such yummy creations. I have not had any wine yet because I am in love with Corpse Reviver #2 on the cocktail list. Service is very wonderful. And the manager, I'm assuming he's the manager, greets every table and asks how we like the food. Very nice. You definitely leave full, but this is a pricey place. I enjoy quality over quantity, but for us middle-class folks, this is definitely a special occasion place. I really appreciate Village Cafe participating in the Groupon deals. I've purchased two."

  • "I purchased a Livingsocial deal for VIllage Cafe to check it out for a birthday dinner. The restaurant is small and cozy for a couple's night out. The cocktail selection was great and the tuna roll appetizer was delicious. We both had the NY strip which had quite a bit of fat on it for a $38 steak but we still enjoyed the plate as a whole. Overall, it was a nice experience and the staff was very attentive and friendly."

  • "We drive 4 hours to shop in Lafayette, stay at River Ranch and dine at The Village. It is charming, with friendly, but professionally trained servers. The food has been consistently delicious and creative for the past several years, it has never disappointed . Looking forward to our next dining experience at this wonderful place"

  • "I'm done with this place for dinner. My ($40) filet was cold, my friend's ($38) stuffed fish was mediocre. We also had salads, a before dinner drink, a glass of house wine, and a after dinner drink. Our bill for this less than satisfactory meal was $159 before the tip. We could have gone to Ruth's Chris for less, had better ambiance, and a much better meal."

  • "We dined early and were welcomed even with a hungry toddler. We ordered appitizer and daughter's food first and enjoyed the friendly staff keeping her entertained. The BBQ shrimp appitizer is to die for, and theoreer if chicken tenders for our daughter came with beautiful fresh fruit. The staff was attentive and helpful, even playing pickup with our daughter. We had help pairing wines with dinner and the wines suggested were excellent compliments. The scallops and rabbit were some of the best we've ever had, and the chocolate bread pudding capped off an extraordinary dining experience. We are already planning a return visit."

  • "Good food, menu changes every few weeks,,, but VERY expensive for the Lafayette market. Dinner for two with a tip and with a modest wine was almost $200. This may be the highest price restaurant in the area."

  • "We have had ocasion to dine at the Village Cafe, this was our first lunch venue. The meal was excellent and all enjoyed thier fare."

  • "This is a place for a great lunch and I would add a star for lunch. The dinner menu is different in an eclectic way, but the same salads are available for lunch and the lunch offerings aren't so dependent on sauces. The reuben is good enough to order again. Specialty chips served to every table with roasted tomatoe dipping sauce are excellent. The gumbo is very good, as is the salmon, but other dishes are sauced up and too rich for my taste. However, it may be perfect for other folks. There are MANY wine choices across a wide range of prices. This alone is a good reason to go."

  • "We celebrated our wedding anniversary here. The food was amazing! The wine list was a bit overwhelming but we were recommended a Pinot noir that was phenomenal with our meal! We were greeted with champagne when we were seated since they knew it was our anniversary. We will definitely be going here again. We always try to find a non commercialize restaurant with amazing food and this is one of them!"

  • "This is a great place.....If I had one complaint, it would be the weak Apple Salad....not real cold, kind of wilty lettuce and one drop of salad dressing....Other than that, the food is really delish , the atmosphere is good and the service excellent. Ask for David. We will always return to The Village Cafe in Lafayette"

  • "I have to say that the Village Cafe far exceeded my expectations. I took a wonderful woman there for a first date and was a little worried, due to the fact that I am from Houston, and had to make arrangements for a first date with a woman from Lafayette, based on online research. The food was impeccable, the service was over the top, and the atmosphere was perfect for romantic evening. I strongly recommend Village Cafe to anyone who appreciates fine wine and dining."

  • "Good food, great service, but waaaaay overpriced. Two adults and one child, two steaks, one monkfish, two drinks, a Sprite, a (split) salad and 3 deserts totaled over $200.00 C'mon guys, it's a former neighborhood store and sandwich shop, about 15 years old. The "ambiance" is minimal. The menu is limited. My prediction,,,, if the don't make major changes,,, soon,,, they will be gone."

  • "My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here for dinner. I booked the reservation through "Open Table". I requested "special treatment" for this event... We were delighted to receive complimentary glasses of champagne and unique appetizers from the chef. Then, we ordered the Fois Gras (Fat Liver) appetizer which is absolutely exceptional. The wine selection here is top notch! The food and dessert was great! The waitstaff is knowledgeable and attentive! We will dine here again."

  • "My wife and I have dined there three times as of now, and every time is special. The updated menu with the freshest of ingredients, the extensive wine list with exquisite pairings all make for a wonderful meal! The deserts are also spectacular."

  • "Dining at Village Cafe is always a pleasure. The menu is always fresh and interesting. The food and the wine---not the place to be when one is restricting calories, because you will be missing out on a lot of flavors and notes ! My husband and I find that everything the sommelier recommends is outstanding. Definitely a must-experience when in Lafayette !"

  • "I love dining at Village Cafe. The food is always amazing. They have a wine for everyones tastes and wallet. Our waiter Anthony was most attentive. We really enjoyed the house-made sausage! The table was very pleased with everything. Porkchops cooked to perfection and my salad, with farm fresh ingredients, was just delicious."
