Truly enjoyed our meal from start
to finish. The most friendly staff ever. Efficient, but never rushed you. Preparation was perfect as was the presentation. Our feeling is that this place is for adults with an adult menu. I would not have enjoyed the meal if there had been crying or noisy children present. I would very much recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves great food as well as a staff who are actually happy you are there and to serve you!"

I've lived here for so long but
never seem to have known about Village Bisteo until a friend picked it for her birthday celebration. We truly enjoyed our seafood choices. This restaurant offers so many fish selections. You can tell that the owner is very passionate about his work when he took the time to explain the origins of each type of fish. We were also intrigued by the restaurant's decor which was designed by the owner himself. It's definitely one of a kind. This was my first visit and is definitely not my last."

don't let the rather funky decor
put you off. this restaurant changed hands a year or so ago and the new "decor" is more colorful now. the menu is very long, offering lots to choose from. as others have said, the owner brings around his best catch(es) of the day which have absolutely no odor and are very, very fresh. the seafood and fish are outstanding. other dishes are also good (try the veal picatta). it's an unusual location (a strip mall), but worth a visit and is located within walking distance of the rosslyn metro. wait staff is accommodating to special dietary restrictions. the quality and prices are excellent. it's a bit noisy due to the old tin ceiling."

Village Bistro was such a pleasant
surprise! Excellent food and service - the fish was cooked perfectly and the pasta was amazing! Will definitely go back!"

This restaurant was very noisy and
it was difficult to talk and be heard. The service was slow, it took a long time to get our food. I made reservations and when we walked in they were not ready for a party of 6. I also asked for a quiet table and that would have been at the back of the restaurant and it was taken. They apparently did not read the reservation. I ordered salmon and it was overcooked. That was disappointing since they seem to 'specialize' in seafood."
Dined on 2/20/2014
Loved the seafood dishes. A little
pricey for the portion size, but the best we've tasted in a while."
Dined on 2/15/2014
Menu was confusing...seemed to be
4 pages of the same dishes arranged differently. Service was okay. The food was very good"

3 of my best friends and I tried
out village bistro for valentines. I have been before and had an amazing experience so we thought it would be a great valentines outing. The food is incredible, the staff is SO friendly and you can genuinely see how much the owner cares as he talks to every table. The decorated fabulously and the ambiance was perfect. I HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone! It is a gem in Arlington and needs to be visited!"

We went here for Valentine's day,
right after the snow storm. The wait time was a little long due to people arriving late because of the weather conditions. The place is small an I was actually ready to be annoyed, but they came up and apologized. They offered everyone in line a complimentary drink from the bar. It was a nice gesture and often I feel like when places are busy the staff can radiate attitude. As a former server myself, that annoys me beyond belief. The staff here was so friendly and there was not even a hint of attitude. Once we were seated, the experience was just as good. The place was decorated nicely and the service was relaxed."

Always a choice of top quality
seafood and an extensive menu. A solid neighborhood choice."

I've eaten at Village Bistro a few
times and I have to say that I think the food is amazing. The service is a little 'iffy" but no one is rude or unhelpful. I think that they are just trying to stay out of your way and let you enjoy your meal. This place isn't a wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am kind of a place. They're goal is not to get you in and out as soon as possible. Rather they want you to sit and enjoy your company and all that their tasty food has to offer. Sit, relax, enjoy the atmosphere and the pride they take in their restaurant and their food. I like this place a lot and look forward to dining here again soon!"

They are trying but service is
uncoordinated. Very noisy on a Friday night."
Dined on 1/31/2014
So the menu kind of mirrors the
decor if you can picture Italian cafe combined with Asian parasols and these weird hanging pieces of fabric. Looks like someone forgot to clean up after a bridal shower. You can find nice items on the menu: my linguine with seafood was very good but the menu needs a major overhaul and could do without the Hawaiin-influence. The waiter really pushed the drinks long after my husband had declined. There's good potential here with minor changes."

We have eaten there several times
before in previous years and had all good things to say. This time we found there service slow and the food was just ok. Don't know if this was an off night. Might consider trying it again in the future but there are so many choices in the area."

I've never been in a restaurant
that had such a "conflicted and confused" decor and menu. It was quite overwhelming. That being said, the food was very good."

We had an early Sunday evening
dinner here before going to the Kennedy Center. Very attentive service and the food was good. We had two small plates - salmon and sea bass -- both good and a very good pasta dish with shrimp and chicken."
Dined on 1/12/2014
This is a friendly neighborhood
bistro that is very charming and welcoming. The order was taken in a clockwise rotation around the table. I assumed since they had taken the order that way the people bringing the food would know where it belonged, not so. Table required servers to reach over others to serve. We had made the reservation in advance so I believe they should have planned the seating better. The food was good not great. I had the seafood fettuccine that was advertised to contain shrimp, scallops, calamari and mussels. There were three shrimp, one scallop cut in half to appear as two, four mussels and about a half pound of calamari. Dish should have been called calamari fettuccine. Caesar was blah. Not what I hoped for."

I am a regular customer at the
Village Bistro since I live right in the neighborhood. Over the past six years, I have never been disappointed. The food is very good and always consistent. The service is great and the owner is almost always here greeting customers, explaining the menu, making recommendations, and adding his usual personal touch and enthusiasm. The restaurant has been remodeled and I live the new, sophisticated look. The seafood menu is extensive, always very fresh fish. Village Bistro is not a trendy "hipster" restaurant. It is a neighborhood gem with very good food. I highly recommend it."

Village Bistro is located in a
non-descript shopping mall, but once you step inside, you're greeted with a homey, artsy vibe. The wait staff was super attentive and sweet, and everyone in my group of 6 loved our meals. The stack of eggplant, tomato and artichoke and the shrimp scampi were standouts - highly recommend. The prices were very fair, and this could double as a family restaurant earlier in the night or a romantic spot later on"

Food was very fresh, tasty, and
well presented. Very pleasant service, with a touch of elegance. Would definitely go back."

Very nice evening. We had a table
for 5 and all dishes were excellent! The owner, Frank, greats you with warm hospitality. Will go back again!"

I always like to support small,
family-owned businesses, but food has to be excellent for me to dine anywhere. The food is excellent and the owner very accommodating."

This restaurant just changed
hands. They did a really nice job of taking care of us & making sure that we were happy! Nice ambience with low lighting..........."

Village Bistro is a hidden
neighborhood gem. The food is outstanding and the service is great as well. The food is always fresh and high quality ingredients are used."

A group of six went on a Saturday
night. It was crowded and loud, and it took a little while for us to be served at first. Having been there many years ago, I noticed the interior had been nicely renovated. The owner came by the table and gave a thorough explanation of the origins of many of the dishes. The menu is huge and a bit daunting, so we all took his recommendation to try the seafood which was extremely fresh and delicious, as promised. Most of us chose a "small plate," along with an appetizer, which was just the right amount of food. There's a nice wine list with some unique choices. Parking can be an issue, but we were able to find spots. There is apparently a parking permit available if you can't find surface parking."

Frank loves fresh. He's a fanatic
about fresh. Fish or meat, this is the place for fresh food beautifully prepared."
Dined on 12/6/2013
We used to go here occasionally
years ago when the food was okay but not great. But it has new owners now, who are taking the food a lot more seriously. The seafood, especially, is outstanding. Give it a try if you haven't been there before or gone there lately."
Dined on 12/7/2013
Everytime I've been here the
service and food are great. The name of the restaurant says it all. It is very much like the better bistros along the french riviera or northern italian coast. The owner is very friendly and welcoming."

My first visit to Village Bistro,
I was a little disappointed based on prior reviews, but with time and clear choices, it could live up to its prior reviews. The restaurant is under new ownership. It seems to have an identity crisis. The music is all over the map (Saturday evening dining), and so is the menu. Although the owner, host and waiter speak of fish as being the featured entrees, they still offer the "old" menu they say on the back. It is more traditional Italian and French. I enjoyed the tortellini in cream sauce that my date and I shared as an appetizer, although the bits of prosciutto were much too small. I also enjoyed the bluefish and risotto I had as an entree. Choose one type of music and narrow the menu. I'll be back."

Village Bistro brings fish
appreciation to a whole new level. They have special varieties of fish from all around the world, and are happy to share details of the provenance with you. The preparation is excellent and really brings out the unique qualities of each one. I had bluefish, which is hard to find in restaurants. Friendly service, and a stylish but relaxed atmosphere. Yes, they do have food for carnivores too. The bread is fresh and delicious, and it's tempting to fill up on that before your meal. If you are a pescaterian, this is the place for you!"

We had a great dinner. We liked
how many of the dishes could be ordered as small plates. They have a good selection of fresh seafood as well."
Dined on 11/27/2013
Despite it being a quiet day for
the restaurant the service was poor. We had to ask for our menus, our food did not come out all at the same time, and our appetizer courses came after the entrees. Not the best service... Food was very good. We are willing to give it another shot on the chance they were having an off day."

I went to Village Bistro with my
mom and boyfriend to celebrate my birthday earlier this week. After reading outstanding reviews on Trip Advisor, I couldn't resist trying out this place and boy did it live up to its reviews. Great service, great food and an energetic owner passionate about his establishement. The flavors were refined, but the prices reasonable. We will be back again soon."

Italian in a strip mall with a
romantic, aged interior. The atmosphere is of old Italy--especially with the soft lighting in the evening. The restaurant is small with two primary servers. It is not a place to go when in a rush--more leisurely paced dining. If in a hurry one might get frustrated and impatient. If you enjoy lingering over a meal this is the place. The menu has several interesting dishes with some unusual items. I tried the peche (a fish from a South American river I was told). It was reminiscent of sea bass, delicious, and came in an attractive presentation. Although I requested no potatoes (mashed) they accompanied the fish. A salad to start was fresh and flavorful. I enjoy a meal here when in the area."

There is much to commend: enticing
menu including specially sourced item like fish directly from Hawaii, excellent cooking, nice wine selections, reasonable prices, fun decor, and good vibe. But, the NOISE IS LOUD (oh, am I shouting?) and our waiter disappeared mid-way through dinner. We could not get attention for water, dessert or to get a bill and I finally waved the check in the air to get someone to accept payment."

Great find for local feel of
Arlington. Easy to get to,great food, service great. We will return on next trip to DC"

We had to sit for 20 minutes at
our table before the waiter showed up. He only gave us the drink menu and we had to wait another 15 min to get his attention. 3 of the servers have just bought the restaurants that has been there for years.food was terrible and we ordered what the guy called best dish they are known for ( chicken parm) Don't ask me chose you can mess that one. The new meanie is all seafood and steak Not tometion seafood comes from other states and average price is $35-$45 for the main course By far the worst restaurant"

Was in town for the Marine Corps
Marathon and was looking for a good healthy dinner for the night before the race. The hotel had suggested the Village Bistro along with another restaurant but since the other one had closed down I decided to make a reservation for dinner. As we arrived to the restaurant we noticed that it was not a huge restaurant and had great decor that was very inviting. Upon sitting down the owner of the restaurant came over to our table and welcomed us. He continued on by explaining the menu, where all the fish and meat were from, along with suggestions of the freshest food and vegetables that had just been picked from the local farm… Long story short, dinner was AMAZING from the salad to the dinner and even the wine!"

A group of 7 dined at Village
Bistro. It has changed ownership recently so some of the reviews and menus posted here may refer to the old owner. We had a reservation and arrived on time but there was no table ready. We chose to sit outside under the heaters which was nice but it seemed like we were forgotten at times. We would have to flag down waitstaff from the inside to get more water, bread, etc. The food was excellent everyone raved about it and would go back. The small plates are adequate for most diners, especially if you choose to add a salad or another appetizer."
