  • "We had a great time at Village Anchor this weekend. The food was perfect but more importantly - the atmosphere is what keeps us going back!!"
    Dined on 4/19/2014
  • "As always the food was great, ambiance was wonderful and all around we had a great time. The only thing I would change was the coolness. We went on a day that was cold, and while the restaurant attempted to enclose the outer area it was still chilly. Perhaps placing heat blowers on the floor around the patio area would have helped. That being said we will certainly return!"

  • "I love this restaurant. The food is delicious, the service top notch and the ambience is wonderful."

  • "My wife had a luncheon at Anchorage, but I had never eaten there, so it was my first. It was a spectacular early Spring evening and the weather was perfect. We ate on the Lanai. Food did not disappoint, service was good, overall experience was excellent. We will be going back again and again, especially on nice evenings. Indoors the ambiance is terrific also. It was the old Anchorage train station with wonderful history and architectural details."

  • "We made a reservation for 6pm for table for 5. We were seated promptly and waited on very quickly. The waiters were very attentive. The food presentation was very nice and our selections were delicious!"

  • "We've eaten at Village Anchor more than once and had great experiences every time! I always recommend this restaurant to my friends. Food never disappoints!!"

  • "Five of us ate together, four for the first time at The Village Anchor. All ordered different entrees and desserts as well as appetizers for the table. Ordinary food fixed in extraordinary ways. Every dish was just delightful, the service was wonderful, the atmosphere was beautiful. Cannot wait to return and be able to eat outside when the weather permits. A wonderful restaurant."

  • "My wife and I used the open table app to check to see if they had an open table on a Friday night . To our surprise we could get in and we were once again treated to an excellent meal by the best service staff in louisville"

  • "We loved everything about it. Our $1 mimosa started us off on a great note!"

  • "This place is visually satisfying to start, with shadow box art on the ceiling, a stone fireplace aglow, inviting bar and posh seating. Then the service was welcoming and informative, always appreciated. After a drink and an appetizer, our meals arrived and did not disappoint. The grilled pork with jalapeno sauerkraut was almost candied, yum. Great portions too. In all, I'd say it was a very comfortable and upscale place, with a slight tavern feel. It will be one we return to often."

  • "Consistent, friendly, good food, near my home. What more could I ask for? Love Village Anchor, the staff and Manager Larry who really cares about us and our dining experience."
    Dined on 3/22/2014
  • "It seemed overpriced to us, and the noise from the continuous pounding in the upstairs kitchen was very distracting. It was so loud it stopped our conversation several times. The waiter said they were preparing some dish for next week's menu"
    Dined on 3/14/2014
  • "We always enjoy the food, trying to make it through all the great choices on the menu. Lunch is also awesome and seating in the patio is a nice option, rain or shine. All this and nothing but the best in service!"
    Dined on 3/14/2014
  • "Not the usual options - some neat twists, such as Red Velvet Pancakes!"

  • "Food was outstanding! And the attmosphere is fantastic! Our kind of place! First time to this restaurant and we will drive the 30 miles again to come back!! Thank you!"

  • "We have visited Village Anchor twice now for birthday dinners. We haven't been disappointed yet. Love the atmosphere especially and can't wait to return when warmer weather gets here. We have tried a variety of menu items and all have been very delicious. Will definitely return."

  • "We had lunch on Saturday at 1:30pm. Very accommodating for all 7 of us. Fantastic food! An understandably limited menu due to small kitchen size."

  • "Fantastic as always. Time and time again, our favorite restaurant."

  • "The hostess lacked the ability to find the reservation and I was about to leave when another clueless hostess tried to help they were both very confused and I think this job was above thier capabilities , I had to pull out my iPhone and show them I had a reservation , then they got the mgr and magically found me a table. Service was good and food was divine. But next time I won't mention a reservation so I can be seated without trouble"

  • "We went to the Village Anchor with a party of 7, including 2 kids. The waitress, Erin, was amazing and totally great with the kiddos. The food was super! We especially love the sweet potato fries with marshmallow cream sauce. Always a super experience!"

  • "Received several emails regarding the grouper special. The waiter took our order then returned and said they did not have any grouper. He suggested Seabass which we ordered. The seabass was good but overpriced! They should have priced it at the same price as their advertised special which they did not have at 7:00 on a Friday."

  • "Our lunchtime group was 6 adults including 2 very senior citizens and a 2 month old infant. We asked for a setting that would accommodate the senior citizens as well as an infant in a stroller. Perfect location and easy to get to with room for the stroller by the table. The food was incredible. The music was eclectic with selections for the senior citizens to the youngest adults. Service was superb as well as the food. If I lived closer, the Village Anchor would be my Friday night hangout."

  • "All six of us had a wonderful dinner. The Gateau Appetizer with goat cheese, cream cheese, was fantastic... No it was fabulous! The Fish and chips had enough fries for ten people got to reduce this.... Everything else was super. Just wish we could talk without shouting, although no problem, We will just wait till spring so we can sit outside!"

  • "You won't find a place with better staff! They are so friendly and welcoming when you enter the restaurant. I love the way the hostess introduces herself when you come in - such a surprising, wonderful touch. I love the decor, the way the tables are set, the blankets in the area with the heaters, the fireplace but most of all the food is SO delicious! I have loved everything I have ordered. It gives off a relaxing mood, a place for a couple to enjoy or a big group. We had a drink downstairs in the bar before we ate and the bartender was great at suggesting things to try which I always appreciate because I like to try new things. It was one of my favorite places to eat!"

  • "Everything was great except it felt as if the restaurant had crammed as many tables as possible into there outdoor area. Thankfully, the people seated next to us were very nice and we got along well. That's always helpful when you're bumping elbows. And a common complaint I heard during the two hours we were there was that they outdoor chairs are too heavy. I agree that they are, but they're also outdoor chairs. I think the more negative aspect is that they are on carpet in which they do not slide. I will definitely be going back though."

  • "This was my second visit to the Village Anchor and they did not disappoint. The bar is well stocked and staffed with knowledgeable professionals. The restaurant is quaint and has great food."

  • "Great food, great setting but the noise was horrendous. Tables were too close together."

  • "Had the portabella sandwich it was wonderful. Friends had hit hit brown they lived it. Wine was great also!"

  • "This place serves up some great staples such as the fantastic pork chop and the hot brown, but it also has a regular array of specials. Bone Marrow appetizers, lobster gumbo, and many others show up from time to time. Wine list isn't extensive, but has a good selection of top of the line items. Weds night is half price bottle night, so it's a prime time to go check it out. Service is always exceptional - never had a bad experience. Only complaint would be during the bitter cold nights if you sit next to the windows in the extended dining, you're going to need a heavy coat. Fireplace is always running, but it can still get a bit frosty."

  • "We live in Southern Indiana but this restaurant really isn't that far. From Oxmoor Mall, just about 10 minutes away. We loved this restaurant, great ambiance and great food. We were seated on the enclosed patio but it was really quite cozy and warm. They provided blankets which were draped over the chair in case you needed it. The service was outstanding. couldn't have been happier with the entire experience. We will definitely return and spread the word about this wonderful dining experience."

  • "The food was fantastic and service was very good. Atmosphere is better for seasons other than winter. We went on a very cold evening and, while there were many heaters and roaring fires, were cold at our table. The heaters were noisy. There were several seating areas and I imagine this is probably a roll of the dice to which one you might get. The great news is that the food was excellent and was hot. I had the bourbon pork chop which was amazing. The apple crisp desert was very good, and the french pressed coffee was served with some mini-chocolate chips making it a special treat."

  • "The good was outstanding! We started with the sweet potatoe fries with a marshmallow cream sauce and a bourbon barbeque sauce. It's the perfect combination between sweet and salty! Highly recommend them. I had the shrimp and grits which had great flavor and is a nice portion size that leaves you warm and full. She had the fish n chips. It was expertly cooked with a crisp shell and nice flaky fish inside."

  • ""The Traveller Review" #1,349 I was lucky to get a table by the fire on this cold Thursday (9F) night. This upscale restaurant never disappoints. It is located in the upscale neighborhood of Anchorage, KY and the restaurant feels like home, is full of energy and lots of fun. No wonder Vince Vaughn and David Dobkin selected it as a shoot location for their 2014 filming of "Wedding Crashers 2". On this night, I selected the chicken pot pie and a side of brussel sprouts. The pot pie warmed the soul. The flaky crust and big chunks of chicken were prepared perfectly. A soulful dish that reminds me of home. The side of Brussels was excellent as well. Big Brussels cut in half and full of flavor, cooking with bacon never hurts."

  • "My wife and I love The Village Anchor. We went rogue on the appetizer menu and just ordered the rosemary fries...outstanding."

  • "The service was wonderful and the food was absolutely amazing. The special appetizer that night was a pork belly corn dog which I found to be a genius idea and worked very well. We also had the deviled eggs appetizer and each of them was outstanding as well. For our entrees I ordered the meatloaf sandwich and added the sweet potato fries as a side(well worth the extra $3). My wife and our friend that was dining with us each ordered the chicken pot pies and the bite I had of it was delicious. We will definitely make our way back to this restaurant."
