Village AnchorWonderfulHad a really nice time at Village Anchor. We always forget you all are tucked away in Anchorage, but we will be joining you again soon. We also came on a charity night, which seemed like a very worthy cause. Also, the hostess, bartender & server were friendly. Thank you for a wonderful birthday dinner! We'll be sure to be back soon :)6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst timersIt was our first dining experience here. Loved it! Definitely order extra cobb rollers. They were amazing6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Ladies LuncheonSat out on the covered patio. We had a larger group but everyone was able to sit at the same table. The service is always pleasant and knowledgeable, and the food never disappoints. Great craft and import beer selections too. If you can, sit outside on the patio. Great deals throughout the week too, like ten-buck-Tuesday and half price bottles of wine on Wednesdays. Highly recommend!5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent choice for entertainingExcellent choice for entertaining out of town guests. I consider it my favorite local Resturant . I'm looking forward to many trips in the future. Excellent Bourbon list5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstandingWe will definitely return. Lunch Menu is diverse. Something on the menu for everyone. Wonderful food. Good portions.Attentive Waitress. Outstanding coffee. Fire going in the Fireplace. Nice Atmosphere. Patio is a great place to relax and people watch.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAlmost GreatI don't give reviews often, but I wanted to share a few things about Village Anchor in hopes that it will improve. I love the food and cocktails, and the service is typically good. We've had some wonderful servers. I've been several times, and it is a favorite. The quality is consistent. The environment is really hard to beat in Louisville.
The other consistency is the rudeness you're greeted with when you walk in the door. The hosts aren't friendly, reservation or not. In fact, I've tried to make reservations by leaving a message over the phone, and no one calls back to confirm. I really love going to Village Anchor for many reasons, but the host staff isn't one of them. I'm more likely to choose a different restaurant because of it.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMLove the covered porch. It was a beautiful, sunny day so we were seated on the covered porch which was lovely. Deviled eggs are delicious! Fish tacos were very good too.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightful outdoor diningDelightful outdoor dining in a comfortable setting!4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and great atmoshphere.Great food and great atmoshphere. Only downfall is length of time to get the food to you. I believe they have a very small kitchen. The food is very very good.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMYum yumI lover the ambiance and the incredible menu selections.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMVery enjoyable experience.Very enjoyable experience. Interesting and diverse menu and excellent execution of dishes. Good place for a couple or maybe 4 diners but very noisy and not easy to hear with larger parties. Will be back!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGREAT place to dine - brunch,GREAT place to dine - brunch, lunch or dinner!!! One of my favorites!4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGroup of young women in barGroup of young women in bar were so loud, you could not even talk. It went from loud roar to cackle!4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMNoise levelWe always enjoy the Village Anchor and have been seated in many different locations within the restaurant. However, this last visit was very loud and made difficult to hear the friends seated directly across from us at the table for 4. Next time we will NOT plan to dine on an evening that has a large group in the same room or we will wait until warmer weather can accommodate outdoor seating comfortably.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place for Girls' NightGreat place for Girls' Night Out! Great wine list and they were running a Derby special for 50% of all alcohol. The short ribs were fall-off the bone tender and yummy. My friends had the fried chicken and shrimp n' grits and both enjoyed their meals. Just wish the menu was just a little larger - so many appetizers, but limited entrees for people wanting to eat a bit lighter.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was wonderful asThe food was wonderful as was the service! Loved the atmosphere, not too quiet but not too loud. The restaurant is decorated beautifully. Loved the ceiling art!4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous Dining ExperienceA great establishment through and through. We entertained a client and they were very pleased with the service and the food. I would certainly recommend.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThe location is welcomingThe location is welcoming and the patio, covered on this evening, is pleasant and energetic. Diners can enjoy Rod Stewart and jazz while they dine. I went for the Stilton blue cheese and potato soup and the shrimp and grits. The soup was the best potato soup I've ever had. Not for those that don't prefer Blue cheese though as the deep, rich blue flavor abounds. The homemade bacon chunks are smoky, thick and just downright good. Unique presentation of Shrimp and grits. A whole length andouille, homemade I assume on top of a mound of grits, four jumbo shrimp and fried okra. The fried okra was perfect and this diner doesn't prefer okra. I did ask for and add additional hot sauce to the dish, but I prefer shrimp and grits to have heat.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMHave been several times andHave been several times and Village Anchor is consistently good food and good service.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMLove bringing clients andLove bringing clients and friends to Village Anchor. They're always impressed with food and service. We like the lunch , brunch and dinner menus. I brought my daughter and sister this past visit. You now have new customers. They loved the restaurant. Especially the fish tacos and ahi salad. Thank You!! Sherri M.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWhy haven't we been here sooner?A very special place. Dress warm if sitting on the porches.
