We have been there several times and always been happy about the experience. This time, however, we do have a complaint. We were four and were given a table that really fits two comfortably. We would be okay with that if there had not been other tables for four available, but the place was not full, and there were tables for four available the entire time. No clue why we were seated at a small table. We did not let this spoil the lunch though. It was an enjoyable lunch. Very interesting and unique dishes using out of the ordinary ingredients. The desserts have common names but that's where familiarity ends, fantastic. They make great cocktails and have a expansive wine list. Waiters are expert in their trade and helpful with information. You dictate the dining pace. Usually we convene downtown, because they hail from MD and Alexandria. But this time, they ventured to the west, and were delighted to find this gem in the center of Fairfax. The wait staff was attentive and patient with our decision making (so many great choices on the menu) and the food was terrific. The presentation was inventive, and fun.
The atmosphere was quiet, but comfortable for our girls gab session, and we never felt rushed to leave.

I had the hometown ravioli, which was just ok. It lacked flavor and was a little too aldente for my tastes. But my boyfriend tasted it and he liked it. My boyfriend had the filet mignon, which he loved. Both main courses were presented nicely. We had dessert too, the lemon roll and the apples strudel, both tasted good and looked lovely.The service was great. Since we had another event to attend, we set our reservation for 5:30, right when it opens. We were the only ones there for awhile and it was a weeknight. The service was excellent, as was the food! We had a wonderful time and the friendly staff knew we were on a tight schedule, so we were able to get in and out quickly, but still had time to relax and enjoy the restaurant. We never felt rushed. Theme is Italian, but not everyday variety. Many items on the menu looked intriguing, and everything we ordered was tasty, nicely presented, and of ample size. Our server was prompt, knowledgeable, but not obtrusive. She recommended octopus appetizer, which was beyond excellent! I'd go back just for that. We each just had a glass of wine, of which there is a limited selection (main list for bottle is much larger). The glass was a very fair amount for the price. Our reservations were early because of theatre tickets; service was pleasantly fast - no sense of being rushed - at that time of evening. The dishes themselves were extra special, but with the white truffle added they were out of this world. Truly unlike anything that you can find anywhere else.
