Diner Reviews
  • "Our party of six was looking for a place where we could actually carry on a conversation in a lovely environment. Villa Mozart fills, that bill. The added pluses of superb food and great service was icing on the cake."

  • "We keep coming back here because we know and appreciate wonderful, inventive, but recognizable food. The service here is totally professional meaning that the staff knows the product and performs perfectly. The wine list is good with quality at many price points. We have been coming here since it opened and they never fail to satisfy."

  • "It is not often I can find a restaurant where everything on the menu was a hit. Villa Mozart has done this every visit, and the service is great."

  • "Took some out of town friends to Villa Mozart, and had a delightful evening lingering over beautifully presented and delicious food."

  • "They charged us for a prix-fixed menu when it was not advertised at the time of the reservation and it was way too much ($ 75) for the amount of food received! Portions were SO tiny that it was laughable though deliciously made. They take advantage of these occasions and dont give you a choice for changing a single dish in the event you do not or can not eat some of the ingredients. Very deceptioned with our Mothers Day lunch."

  • "Of the numerous restaurants in Downtown Fairfax, Villa Mozart stands out as the top Italian restaurant. The wine menu is almost exclusively Italian. The meat courses include game. The tasty pasta choices include vegetarian and fish entries. Villa Mozart offers a cozy atmosphere and a knowledgable and attentive waitstaff. Save room for for the luscious desserts!"

  • "As always, our food on Friday night was delicious, well-prepared, and an interesting combination of flavors. The service was pleasant and friendly. The mood is one of relaxed elegance: The perfect place to get away from the DC-area hustle. While dinners are not inexpensive, they do not need to be $100 per person as one reviewer suggested, and the quality of the food makes the price worth while."

  • "My dear friend and I wanted a place where we could have great food and also the ability for a quiet conversation . We choose the right restaurant to have this relaxing lunch. We both ordered the lunch special. The cost is right - $20.00 for 3 courses. The food was outstanding and our service awesome. This is a go to place in Fairfax City. Try it! You won't be disappointed."

  • "I brought my girlfriend here for our anniversary, and we'll never forget it. The room sits at most a dozen tables, so it's small and feels personal -- but formal enough to be suitable for special occasions. And the food was incredible. Villa Mozart finally taught me the difference between popular, Olive-Garden style dining and real, quality Italian food. I'm very easy to please when it comes to food, so it's pretty significant if I tell you the difference is night and day. Both of us were impressed at how, even at the end of the meal, our ravioli and tortellini were extremely flavorful. The spinach dumpling special we had for an appetizer was also something to write home about."

  • "Villa Mozart has become our go to restaurant for special occasions in Fairfax VA. The quality of the meals has been outstanding on all of our visits. The wait staff is professional and doesn't appear to be subject to the turnover that you see in many restaurants. The prix fixe menu selection offers the best way to make sure that you will have an excellent dining experience."

  • "This was our second trip to Villa Mozart. We were impressed; as we were on our first visit. Great food and excellent service!"

  • "Always great food, great service. Enjoyed every meal every time. Returning customer for past 7 years."

  • "There is an Austrian/Italian influence to the cooking because of the chef's training. The portions are small with a price tag of $124 for 2 before tax (including 2 glasses of wine and the prix fixe meal--which just means pick one item from each course). The cream of asparagus soup was set off nicely with pieces of scallops. The smoked prosciutto with "speck" (bacon) and artichoke was presented in a lovely two-part dish. The rack of lamb was succulent and cooked just as I like it. The gnocchi with sausage were good but not outstanding. The wine by the glass selection is extremely limited. Although the restaurant is housed in an old house, it doesn't have a lot of character--no color on the walls and no art work--just a room. "

  • "How have I missed Villa Mozart prior to this? "Fine dining" and Fairfax don't usually go together to me, but this has changed my mind. Each course was very well prepared and flavorful, service was very attentive without being intrusive and the meal was well paced. BYO with a reasonable corkage fee allowed me to bring in something I've been aging a while, so I can't comment on the wine list. Two things to consider that were not a problem on a Wednesday night, though. The restaurant is small so when it's full it could feel close and crowded. Similarly, the parking lot in the back could fill up quickly and there isn't a lot of other convenient parking nearby. We will be back for sure."

  • "Villa Mozart has become our special place for celebrations. This time, we were celebrating my receiving a PhD from nearby George Mason University -- an important lifetime achievement that I mention only to let you know the high regard we have for this small restaurant. "

  • "This is a favorite go to restaurant for a special dining experience. I have always left feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. The food is consistently outstanding and the menu reflects seasonal fare. The temperature of the food, whether hot or cold is always perfectly served by longtime wait staff - Oscar and/or Max. The tone of the restaurant makes the diner feel welcome and valued rather than just another occupant in a chair. This location is perfect for those not wanting to travel into DC. "

  • "Villa Mozart provides an excellent dining experience -- but the cost is relatively high: more than $100/person, including one drink and one glass of wine each, including generous tip. But the presentation and food itself are near perfect."

  • "My wife and I ate at the Villa Mozart to celebrate Mothers' Day. They offered a 3 course fixed price menu. Choices were somewhat limited but we each found something to like for each course. The small restaurant was quite crowded and service was a bit uneven. We eat here occasionally and usually the service is excellent. We will definitely return."

  • "The service was a complete disappointment! I have been to Villa Mozart many times. The food is authentic and fantastic; but this weekend the service was terrible. The server appeared preoccupied with another table, waited 15 minutes before we even got our menus, and by the time we ordered and got our food it was another 1.5 hour; significant lack of attention; he could care less... I was tempted several times to ask for another server however I was discouraged by my guests from doing so. It dampened our our mood... Not sure I will come back!"

  • "As always the food was prepared and presented with a delicate flavor and artistic flair. Max was his usual attentive professional. Certainly one of the best waiters in the DC area."

  • "Our experience was quite lovely. Each course of the meal was exceptionally well prepared and creative. The service was respectful, warm and attentive without attempting to be overly familiar. As others have noted, the noise level increased as the dining room filled. I couldn't attribute this to loud clientele, rather I think it was a result of an intimate room with hard surfaces reflecting sound. Our experience was, overall, outstanding."

  • "We have been to a lot of high-end Italian restaurants and I was really looking forward to going to Villa Mozart, especially based on the reviews I had read. It was good food, but not the best I have had and based on the price of the entree ($35), I expected it to be perfect. I ordered my lamb medium-rare and it was served medium-well. I was incredibly disappointed. We had another event to attend that evening so I could not send it back. It still tasted fine, but there is a huge difference between medium-rare and medium-well. For $35, I expected that lamb to be perfectly cooked and it should have been. The rest of the food was fine, but didn't really knock my socks off for the price we paid. We'd probably go elsewhere next time."

  • "Food was outstanding as always. Service was non attentive for the first time and have eaten at this establishment many times. Giving them a free pass on the service this time since food so wonderful, but they need to step up their game or they will lose customers."

  • "We have never experienced a bad meal. Rockfish was azmazing. They don't have a children's menu and the chef made an amazing gnocchi for my daughter. "

  • "This was my third visit to Villa Mozart and had an excellent experience each time. The food has been consistently good and the service always gracious (formal but not stuffy). Highly recommend!"

  • "Four of us dined on Saturday to celebrate my wife's birthday and found the experience very enjoyable. Leisurely paced dining, seems the restaurant was a little slow on Easter weekend. Attentive service, interesting salad and pasta choices, entree's less so but the fish special for the evening was thoroughly enjoyed by two of our party. Presentation was top notch, and service attentive. Will come back!"

  • "We love Villa Mozart. It's our go-to spot for a special occasion or to treat out of town guests to the best meal in City of Fairfax. Service is 5-star professional, extremely courteous without being pretentious. Complimentary glasses of moscato were brought out following our entrees as I had noted it was our wedding anniversary in the open table reservation. We shared the carpaccio appetizer which was delicate and delicious. I default to the Penne Martelli (lobster and penne with balsamic sauce) but went with the Risotto Ollo (Lobster Risotto) and was quite happy. Mine was so good that I don't recall what my wife had. Always a joy to dine there, especially during the week when the dining room is typically not at capacity."

  • "This restaurant is consistently one of our favorites. Each dish is creative, delicious and beautifully presented. The wait staff are very experienced and know just when to be there to serve you without imposing. The ambiance is quiet and relaxed. It is our 'special occasion" place to go."

  • "Villa Mozart takes you straight to Italy each time you take a bite of Chef Andrea's food. We generally order from the specials list which is verbally provided by our server. Everything we've ever ordered has been scrumptious! All ingredients are very high quality. Portions are appropriate for the price. My favorites are the fish dishes and pasta dishes. The wine list offers superb wines at all affordability levels. The ambience is romantic and the decor is chic. Villa Mozart is a mainstay on my list of favorite restaurants in the Washington, DC area."

  • "My husband and I have been to this restaurant a few times. When we first started going, we didn't need reservations. However, that's no longer the case. For a weekend night, no matter how early, you need reservations. My husband and I arrived on a rainy Saturday night, but going out in the rain was well worth it, as we had a very enjoyable evening. My husband had the saddle of rabbit, which he had before and loved, and I had the halibut special, which was incredibly delicious. We weren't going to get dessert, but our server told us about an apple strudel that's made to order, but takes 20 minutes. It's served with home made ice cream. We decided to order it and split it between the two of us. That dessert was absolutely delicious."

  • "We really enjoyed everything - we had the antipasta special (a sampling of wonderful Italian meats, cheeses, and marinated eggplant), the lobster bisque special, the lobster with penne, the filet, the apple strudel and chocolate mousse! Great service and fantastic food made for a perfect date night."

  • "Attending a local conference from out of town, we sought a nearby offsite location to celebrate our friend's birthday. Thanks to the ability to search well rated nearby restaurants on Open Table and review menus, we selected Villa Mozart and were able to book a table. Excellent service and excellent menu selection at reasonable prices. We'll definitely return if we ever return to Fairfax."

  • "This is the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion. The soup special, cauliflower with truffles was memorable. My rib of lamb was delicious. A prix fixe menu Monday through Thursday offers a good deal on carefully prepared meals. Our waiter took excellent care of us. We will return."

  • "this is a lovely small restaurant which prepares subtle and fresh cuisine, with outstanding service. The ambience is quite refined but not overly formal, and quiet. People all around our table were engaged in dining and conversation just as you would want when out for a fine dining experience. Cocktails and wine were most enjoyable. Prices are reasonable for the quality of the food and service."

  • "We went for the first time for my husbands birthday and we will definitely return. The place has a very warm and cozy feel. There also appeared to be a private room off to the side that would be great for a group. There were so many options it was hard to choose. For entrees I had the black and white chittara. It was made with a smooth, clear sauce and truffle, topped with clams, shrimp and scallop. Fabulous and perfect portion size. My husband and lobster risotto that had wonderful large chunks of lobster meat. Come for a relaxed meal. We sadly neither had time nor space for dessert, so we have to return. Service was friendly and attentive and made special note of my husband's birthday."

  • "Villa Mozart has never disappointed. On this visit I had the chef's hometown ravioli and it was sublime. The special dessert was also perfection, and the coffee is a true cup of Italian coffee. The food is presented beautifully, with the only bit of awkwardness being that the table was a small for 3 diners and so felt a little bit crowded. There was a bit of strategy required to place the knife, the coffee cup, etc, while eating."
