Diner Reviews
  • "We love Villa Mozart. It's our go-to spot for a special occasion or to treat out of town guests to the best meal in City of Fairfax. Service is 5-star professional, extremely courteous without being pretentious. Complimentary glasses of moscato were brought out following our entrees as I had noted it was our wedding anniversary in the open table reservation. We shared the carpaccio appetizer which was delicate and delicious. I default to the Penne Martelli (lobster and penne with balsamic sauce) but went with the Risotto Ollo (Lobster Risotto) and was quite happy. Mine was so good that I don't recall what my wife had. Always a joy to dine there, especially during the week when the dining room is typically not at capacity."

  • "This restaurant is consistently one of our favorites. Each dish is creative, delicious and beautifully presented. The wait staff are very experienced and know just when to be there to serve you without imposing. The ambiance is quiet and relaxed. It is our 'special occasion" place to go."

  • "Villa Mozart takes you straight to Italy each time you take a bite of Chef Andrea's food. We generally order from the specials list which is verbally provided by our server. Everything we've ever ordered has been scrumptious! All ingredients are very high quality. Portions are appropriate for the price. My favorites are the fish dishes and pasta dishes. The wine list offers superb wines at all affordability levels. The ambience is romantic and the decor is chic. Villa Mozart is a mainstay on my list of favorite restaurants in the Washington, DC area."

  • "My husband and I have been to this restaurant a few times. When we first started going, we didn't need reservations. However, that's no longer the case. For a weekend night, no matter how early, you need reservations. My husband and I arrived on a rainy Saturday night, but going out in the rain was well worth it, as we had a very enjoyable evening. My husband had the saddle of rabbit, which he had before and loved, and I had the halibut special, which was incredibly delicious. We weren't going to get dessert, but our server told us about an apple strudel that's made to order, but takes 20 minutes. It's served with home made ice cream. We decided to order it and split it between the two of us. That dessert was absolutely delicious."

  • "We really enjoyed everything - we had the antipasta special (a sampling of wonderful Italian meats, cheeses, and marinated eggplant), the lobster bisque special, the lobster with penne, the filet, the apple strudel and chocolate mousse! Great service and fantastic food made for a perfect date night."

  • "Attending a local conference from out of town, we sought a nearby offsite location to celebrate our friend's birthday. Thanks to the ability to search well rated nearby restaurants on Open Table and review menus, we selected Villa Mozart and were able to book a table. Excellent service and excellent menu selection at reasonable prices. We'll definitely return if we ever return to Fairfax."

  • "This is the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion. The soup special, cauliflower with truffles was memorable. My rib of lamb was delicious. A prix fixe menu Monday through Thursday offers a good deal on carefully prepared meals. Our waiter took excellent care of us. We will return."

  • "this is a lovely small restaurant which prepares subtle and fresh cuisine, with outstanding service. The ambience is quite refined but not overly formal, and quiet. People all around our table were engaged in dining and conversation just as you would want when out for a fine dining experience. Cocktails and wine were most enjoyable. Prices are reasonable for the quality of the food and service."

  • "We went for the first time for my husbands birthday and we will definitely return. The place has a very warm and cozy feel. There also appeared to be a private room off to the side that would be great for a group. There were so many options it was hard to choose. For entrees I had the black and white chittara. It was made with a smooth, clear sauce and truffle, topped with clams, shrimp and scallop. Fabulous and perfect portion size. My husband and lobster risotto that had wonderful large chunks of lobster meat. Come for a relaxed meal. We sadly neither had time nor space for dessert, so we have to return. Service was friendly and attentive and made special note of my husband's birthday."

  • "Villa Mozart has never disappointed. On this visit I had the chef's hometown ravioli and it was sublime. The special dessert was also perfection, and the coffee is a true cup of Italian coffee. The food is presented beautifully, with the only bit of awkwardness being that the table was a small for 3 diners and so felt a little bit crowded. There was a bit of strategy required to place the knife, the coffee cup, etc, while eating."

  • "This is our favorite restaurant because the food is always exceptional and there are always great new specials and seasonal menu items and the service is great."

  • "The soup was incredibly delicious. The penne with lobster was out of this world, as was my husband's ravioli carbonara. The chocolate mousse dessert was to die for (and the ice cream with it is unique ... and my new favorite ice cream!) and my husband's apple strudel was phenomenal! We will definitely be back!"

  • "What an experience! The place is simple and elegant. The service is professional and the staff knowledgeable. The food is exquisite!! I had the octopus, tender and flavorful. The Chitarra pasta with clams, scallop, and shrimp was cooked to perfection and flavorful. The dessert was heavenly... a fennel creme brûlée. I am still dreaming of that dessert. My friend had the speck which he loved as well as the rabbit. The stuffing of the rabbit was amazing. The presentation of each dish is beautiful and mouth watering, a piece of art. I am surprised this is not in the top list or the best of every magazine in this area. Will be returning frequently!"

  • "I was really impressed with the creativity of the dishes -- antipasti, pasti, and secondi. The chef/owner really does a great job with unique dishes and presentation. Our server was also great."

  • "The food, service and ambiance has always been magnificent! The wait staff is very attentive and Chef Andrea always pays very close attention to the detail of every single dish that is presented to the patrons. Excellent place for special occasions!"

  • "I began dinner with an excellent beef carpaccio, very thinly sliced and nicely garnished. The main course consisted of Tyrolean canederli, knoedel or bread dumplings from the mountain region of northeast Italy, with pork cheeks and mushrooms, all very flavorful. The SAngiovese wise proved a perfect complement to the dinner. For dessert, I had the apple strudel with ice cream. Fabelhaft!"

  • "I will recommend Villa Mozart no longer. We were given a $200 gift certificate from a family member for Christmas. We saved it for a special night because we have liked villa Mozart so much in the past. After a mediocre dinner (very different than past experiences there) we gave our gift certificate to the waiter. He never came back....ever. Finally, after 30 minutes of waiting, my husband went to find out the reason for the delay. They said we had paid. Yes, we had paid $200 for a $150 meal. Not only did they take a 33% tip without asking, they didn't feel it necessary to let us know that they had done so. In fact, when my husband asked if they were bringing anything for us to sign, the owner stated "what do you expect me to bring you?""

  • "Thought I no longer live in the area, I choose Villa Mozart as the place to meet some old friends I hadn't seen in almost five years. Turned out to be an excellent choice -- great atmosphere, excellent service, delicious food, good wine, etc.! I'd recommend it."

  • "My wife and I enjoy places like Restaurant Eve, 2941, Maple Ave, and 1789. Villa Mozart is another excellent choice for a romantic evening with tastes so good you can't help but close your eyes and shake your head like I can't believe my mouth is experiencing such wonderful textures and flavors. The service was perfect and very professional. Plate presentation, food portion, and taste were such that you know the kitchen is doing things right and no matter what is ordered is going to be good. We look forward to going back soon!"

  • "My husband and I had a great dinner. I had never heard of it but read good reviews in the Washington Post. We had to wait a little bit due to the maître d trying not to move a table that was just sitting after paying the bill. All in all, the good was great, drinks (aperitif and wine) were delicious and the apple streusel was amazing. It is not the cheapest restaurant, so I would definitely consider this a 'special occasion' restaurant."

  • "My wife and I were looking for something different for "date night". Had seen the place at some point running back and forth for kid's activities, saw it had good reviews, and figured we'd give it a try. We were in for a real treat. They had extended their three course "Valentine's Special" to Sunday due to snow on Valentine's Day. There were plenty of choices and the food was absolutely fantastic. I had the carpaccio appetizer, the filet main course, and tiramisu with a dynamite cappuccino for desert. The presentation and quality was right up there with any of the top DC or NY restaurants. They also have an exceptional wine list and a great drink selection. A bit pricy so maybe best saved for special occasions but well worth it."

  • "Pricey, but absolutely fantastic food and service. Possibly the best restaurant at which I've dined. We will dine here again, soon."
    Dined on 2/17/2014
  • "The dinner was amazing. I had the beet and goat cheese salad (absolutely (and shockingly) amazing), the lobster penne (seriously to die for), and the chocolate mousse (which was unlike any chocolate mousse I have ever had). Wine was great. Service was great. Villa Mozart is expensive - but the entire meal was outstanding. We went there for a ladies night out and I will definitely go there again for a special occasion. Unconfirmed - but have heard that lunch is just as awesome but more affordable."

  • "Over the weekend my family and I attended Villa Mozart. While we had no complaints about the food or service, we were surprised when we were handed the special menu for Valentine's Weekend and told we could not order from the main menu. I realize this is their perogative, but unfortunately our bill ended up being twice the amount we had expected to pay. Note, the restaurant can be on the pricey side. For someone on a budget, this was disconcerting."

  • "We enjoyed the great Valentines Day menu at Villa Mozart. Our server David was very attentive and answered every question we had. The lamb was fantastic and presentation of each course was exceptional. Very romantic."

  • "Went with my wife for their Valentine's Day seating at 8:00 pm. Overall it is good but honestly I have had much better food and service for less money. I had the lamb chop and my wife had the beef tenderloin. These were good but not fantastic. The service, in general, was a solid B. My water glass remained empty for most of the night and we were clearly forgotten about for 15 minutes at one point. Maybe it would have been better food and service on a non-special occasion like Valentine's."

  • "Quaint intimate restaurant. Excellent knowledgeable waiter was attentive but not intrusive. Delicious food, beautiful presentation. Great date night ambiance. Absolutely worth the little splurge. Will be taking my girlfriends and their hubbies when they are back in town."

  • "I've enjoyed dining at Villa Mozart for several years, and enjoyed lunch there recently. The food was terrific, as always, but the service was painfully slow. There weren't too many dining during the time we were there, so the slow service surprised us."

  • "Have wanted to try this restaurant for a long time and finally got the chance. We were very happy with the evening. All food was delicious - from Artichoke soup to Apple Struedel and every plate in between. Dining room was cozy and tables close together - it worked out fine for us. Service was very good but not exceptional. Would have wanted a glass of wine after finishing cocktail but ate my meal before the waiter came back. We will definitely go back - too many dishes on menu I still want to try!"

  • "This was our first visit. Villa Mozart lived up to the hype we had heard. The food was delicious - and we had the $20 lunch special. The service was a bit slow - apparently there was one server and the place was full. He could have used a bit of assistance from his supporting team to stay on top of all the diners the day we were there. Fortunately, we were not in a hurry. We will give Villa Mozart another try. Unfortunately for us, there was one loud table in the dining room. Otherwise I would have rated the noise level as quiet."

  • "The soup, Tyrolean "canederli" (the most spectacular dish made of spinach, cheese, and bread and served with pork), rack of lamb, and apple strudel were all simply to die for!"

  • "What a deal during restaurant week - so many delicious choices to pick from on the menu. I am usually skeptical of going to a restaurant during restaurant week because the choices are limited, but there were so many choices at this restaurant. We particularly enjoyed the gnocchi and the fish special. Excellent service and very pretty dining room. We were pleased to learn they have an excellent lunch and weeknight dinner deal as well."
