Wonderful food and great service
makes for a special evening!!!"

We picked this restaurant due to
its proximity to The Barrow Street Theatre and were not disappointed. The food was very good and the service was outstanding. They have a lot of space in several different rooms and we were seated in the back room, which had the most lovely feel with its glass roof and lights. It could be the area they open up in nice weather for a garden feel. Give it a try."

Not ever being in this part of the
downtown area for a show we wanted to find a nice Italian restaurant for reservations close by for after our show. After reading through lots of reviews & comments, we decided on Villa Mosconi. We were not disappointed. We were greeted immediately as we walked in, checked our coats and were seated. The restaurant was about 3/4 full upon our arrival. The service was excellent, the drinks were great and the food was spectacular. We would definitely recommend and if in the area in the future we will definitely go back. While sneaking outside for a quick smoke, one of the women owners came out to check on the falling snow and we had a very nice chat."

Great food. My girlfriend and I
came here for Valentine's day.. The food was great, it was not to busy, and we didn't feel rushed at all. Also the cannolli at the end was quite good. I 'd also recommend the house wine! We're definitely going to come back to this neighborhood gem. And the prices were decent."

This is the 3 visit to villa
mosconi... 2 in the last 2 months and the first 30 years ago... The food is still delicious home style Italian...The service even better! The vibe remains.. That old world combo of just enough warmth, great food and engaging yet professional service that makes an evening great..."

Traditional southern Italian
cooking. A neighborhood prize for years. Spotless. Family run and friendly."

The food was delicious. I had the
red snapper livornese and it was perfect. My husband and a friend had the stufffed pork chop annd they both raved about it. All our plates were perfectly clean at the end of the meal! The staff was friendly and attentive and didn't rush us at all. We'll definitely be back!"

Based on the reviews that I had
read on Open Table, this seemed like a great place to take my daughter for her 16th birthday with a few friends. The food was fine, but the place was tired, old looking and somewhat gloomy. There were cheap and dusty looking paintings on the walls and a big, unattractive No Smoking sign in the dining room. Luckily the prices were good and we were able to go elsewhere for a more festive location for dessert."

Carl was out waiter and couldn't
be happier with his service as well as the staff. We sat at the bar had a few drinks, dinner was incredible. The artichokes were the best I have had. We even bonded with family from POSITANO."

Friendly, warm ambiance on a snowy
night. Birthday dinner for 5, all dishes very authentic from different regions of Italy. Waiter explained all preparation and suggested dishes prepared to our taste. Both veal and fish dishes were excellent. We will recommend to friends and return."

We walked in, and it looked like a
bar, so we walked right back out, only to have one of the workers go after us, saying "The restaurant is in the back." Indeed, it was - three separate rooms. We had a lovely waiter, whose only misstep was not telling us about the specials. I was slightly disappointed that they didn't have capellini, but I was very happy with the Shrimp Parmigiana."

It was an amazing experience. Had
a great time and would recommend it to all."

Food was great, came with a group
for a birthday dinner and everyone really enjoyed all of their meals. I believe they said that all of the pasta was homemade, and I could tell! Owners were friendly; good place for a celebration or special occasion. However at the end of our meal they told the group they could not accept more than 2 cards; understandable, but since I've never had that happen at a restaurant before I think it would be helpful to include a note online or in the menu so patrons come prepared! Overall very good, I would come back just to try more of the menu since everything looked/sounded delicious"

We did not enjoy the meal due to
too much salt in the food and the people were not friendly and at times were rude. We will not go there again.,"

We have eaten here frequently, but
never on a Saturday night. The food is very good and usually the service is friendly and attentive. On this evening I was convinced that we were invisible. We were seated at a table for 2 in the middle of the back room. For 15 minutes at least 3 waitpersons passed back and forth past out table without asking if we wanted a drink, giving us a menu or in any way noticing that we were waiting to be noticed as diners. After 15 minutes of sitting there, we asked a busboy if our table had a waiter. A waitress attending to a large table nearby did us a favor and took our order so that we would get something to eat. It was an awful experience and we will never go again on a crowde Saturday night."

A classic old time Italian
restaurant. Great food, old time ambiance and service, plenty of room between tables. Always reliable."
Dined on 12/19/2013
My friend and I both agree that
the dinner we had at Villa Mosconi was the best food we'd had in ages! I would highly recommend this Greenwich Village gem to anyone."
Dined on 12/16/2013
We had a holiday dinner there. The
food was really good. The server was very helpful with his suggestions and they turned out to be on-target. This is a special "find," and thank you very much. Sumner family."
Dined on 11/29/2013
The restaurant had an attentive
friendly staff. The food was substantial. There were few alternatives to the very heavy tradition fare,"
Dined on 12/3/2013
My fiancé and I really enjoyed the
food (we dined here for Thanksgiving) and the service was fantastic. Try the Moscato… it's delicious!"
Dined on 11/28/2013
You didn't feel you were there for
a special holiday. Couldn't believe there wasn't any salad. Food very bland with no personality. I would recommend for what they are good at....The old Italian good dining."
Dined on 11/28/2013
Was great! Service was excellent,
food was excellent. If you are looking for cooking like MaMa made this is the place!"
Dined on 11/28/2013
A great spot, the food is awesome,
the staff incredible, treat there customers great."
Dined on 11/27/2013
From the first time we walked in,
we were treated like family! The food is always great! The Oso Buco is second to none and you can't beat the service!"
Dined on 11/26/2013
A very, very deep menu of pasta
choices, meats, fish, and chicken. The specials looked great, as well. And if you didn't find anything that you liked, they would make something to your liking. Come hungry, because the portions are a good size. We sat in the garden section, which is the most scenic section of the restaurant."
Dined on 11/23/2013
Service was great until we
received our food. Never saw waiter after that. Had to ask busboy for check. The food was average. It is in a great location, but I suspect there are other Italian restaurants nearby with better food and service."
Dined on 11/9/2013
This is a great restaurant. We
have been going for 25 years whenever we are in NYC and want to celebrate anything special or just take someone out and introduce them to what is so enjoyable about New York City restaurants. You feel special and like family here at the same time. The food, especially the homemade pasta specials are devine. Listen to your waiter as they truly do know what is freshest and the best sauce to serve which each pasta. Walking through Greenwhich Village before or after dinner is always a treat. Whether there are two or ten of you, they take great care of you. Tip: Buy the house wine in a pitcher and then buy the beautiful pottery pitcher to take home as a momento of the fabulous evening. They are handmade in Italy."

The good was good, the restaurant
a neighborhood gem even if it's not your neighborhood! The service was wonderful friendly and professional!"
Dined on 11/2/2013
Thankfully, this is not the place
for nouveau anything. This is classic food, well made. Just delicious. The service is attentive. Water glasses always filled, waiters at the ready to help. Our waiter was able to help me choose a fabulous meal. Artichoke appetizer, veal piccata (the best I've ever had) and zabaglione with strawberries. Yum! The perfect meal in my book! The pasta with bolognese sauce also delicious. Just a lovely experience here, as usual."
Dined on 10/27/2013
The decor is basement kitsch but
well worn out. Styrofoam ceilings-very low. The appetizers were below average, salad was a joke and two main courses left both of us with a stomach ache. Never again"
Dined on 10/27/2013
Absolutely fabulous! Had an
amazing meal and really enjoyed the atmosphere and service. Great cocktails too. Would highly recommend this restaurant. Family friendly."
Dined on 10/25/2013
Incredible food and service. Would
go back in a heart beat. People were amazing and atmosphere was perfect. Best Italian food we've had in years. Four different meals and everyone of them were fabulous!!!!! Family owned."

We found a gem at Villa Mosconi!
Carl our waiter made our evening delightful. He knew everything about the dishes and made us feel right at home. We have been searching for a restaurant that served food as good as our trip to Italy- we found it! Home made pastas and the right amount of sauce! Our food was prepared by one of the Mosconi's - not a line cook. Authentic Italian! You can't go wrong."
Dined on 10/22/2013
A visit to Villa Mosconi is a
visit to wonderful time-warp in the Village. "Old World" charm and homestyle cooking conspire for a vibrant, tasty night in a little part of the West Village that remains loyal to its roots."

Food: Old school italian/italian
american and legit. Delish. we had Lamb shanks & polenta, osso bucco, veal chop milanese with salad. Some other pasta dishes in there too. Caesar salad is made by hand (though not table side) They definitely care about the quality of their food. Service: The place is run by professional adults. The waitstaff are invisible until just the moment you need them, then they bring you what you need before you ask. And they can charm a table when taking the orders. Plus, EVERYBODY SPEAKS ITALIAN. My dad tested them.. he's a native. they passed. its legit. Price: dinner for 8 with appetizers & drinks was about 350.00. Worth it easy. I'll be back Ambiance: ehh... bring somebody pretty to look at."

We came to NYC to spend 3 days
just eating, shopping, walking and drinking.... Open table and the reviews for Villa Mosconi were spot on. Great food and service, lots of family or if they werent... they sure like each other. We will definitely come back the next time in New York."
Dined on 9/19/2013
Maybe it was the disinterested
service -or a small portion of average food - but my experience did not live up to what I had been told -and I went at a time when the restaurant was not very busy."
Dined on 3/2/2013
The food is old fashioned
delicious. We saw a lot of hugging and kissing between waiters and, I guess, regulars. The background music is perfect. The waiters are attentive. The hardest part of the evening is deciding which delicious thing to order. We always order too much and then eat every bite of it! It's that good. We end up spending a lot of money there, but it's worth it for a lovely evening with delicious food."
Dined on 9/15/2013
We continue to bring out of
towners to Villa Mosconi. This is a great New York neighborhood restaurant . We are always greeted with a hug and kiss when we come in and treated like family. If you are looking for great food, great service and a very local restaurant, Villa Mosconi is the place to go."
