This used to be a great little
place we went to 2-3 x/month. Romantic, half-price wine night, great food. Now, just mediocre."

This is such a pretty place and
cozy. I was thrilled we could get in on a Friday night, with little (and changing notice). I tried the lemon drop, which was as delicious as it was pretty - and not too sweet. I'm a self proclaimed bolognese sauce snob - and I love their version of a rich, tomatoey, hearty ragu over the thick noodles. I love the spoon, cause I want to enjoy every drop. It's hard to find restaurants that make their own desserts. For 5 of us, we had a hard time narrowing down our selection to 4. I was glad to have room for dessert, the creme brulee was divine. It took me a long time to go the first time because I figured I wouldn't be able to get in - don't make the same mistake. Great place for a memorable evening."

This is one of my favorite
restaurants in the Madison area. It's a charming little place with amazing food and a great wine selection, plus their gelato is to die for. I would recommend this place to anyone!"
Dined on 2/21/2014
Good food, nice decor--nice quiet
atmosphere to have a relaxing meal of one of their specialty pizzas or pastas. A bit of a fooler as you need to go inside to get a feel--not much curb appeal, but they did a good job of creating a nice atmosphere."
Dined on 2/15/2014
the service was as good as it
could be, considering we were all packed in like sardines flying coach...I made the mistake of sitting on the outside of a row of tables sitting back to back- it was like getting hit by the beverage cart every time the waitress or another person tried to get by. Food was good, but experience was less than desirable."
Dined on 2/14/2014
I loved the food and the overall
experience. Parking is challenging but we'll definitely be back to sample the pizza!"

I have made 3 visits over 7 months
and have always been impressed with the staff, the accommodations and food on my most recent trip we enjoyed a thin crust pizza with pears and caramelized onions, and a superior calzone"

Went here for restaurant week.
They were more than accommodating and really made us feel welcome. Very enjoyable. The food was amazing. I'd go back over and over again as a regular customer."

We joined neighbors for dinner
during restaurant week. Always enjoy eating at Villa Dolce. Every entree is perfectly prepared and presented. If you want a pizza but have advanced to the gourmet variety, they do an excellent job of filling that craving. The atmosphere is modern in an old building. We all noted the good acoustics on a busy night. Service was prompt and friendly but not rushed. They have a good wine list and great desserts. We have had lunch at Villa Dolce and several dinners. Thanks for being in Middleton!"

Also I visit during "Madison
Restaurant Week" - the suggested menu was not "good enough" to pay $25 or even $30. we pick items from the standard menu, which turn to be better and less expensive as the suggested "special" menu"
Dined on 1/24/2014
We always enjoy dining here, and
the wait people are excellent, especially Delores."
Dined on 1/17/2014
This place has been one of our
favorite restaurants since we discovered it 6 months ago. The food is always great & the service is friendly and efficient. A perfect atmosphere for a date or small group. Desserts are fantastic too, made in house daily! Have brought friends with us and recommended it to many others. Already looking forward to our next visit!"

Villa Dolce is a cozy local eatery
with great food, a good selection of wines, and wonderful range of gelatos for dessert. (Actually, their tiramisu is also excellent.) The wild mushroom flatbread appetizer is superb, as are the bruschetta and caprese. I also highly recommend the butternut tortelaci and the beef bolognese for main courses. Every pizza I've had there has also been terrific. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable, and service is prompt and friendly. Highly recommended!"

Compared to other places in
Madison that we've been to recently, I would say this place is "quiet", just not as quiet as a dinner for two at home :) Great food! We had the carbonara and the Godfather calzone (filled with meats). Cocktails and wine were excellent! Will definitely go back again and again!"
Dined on 11/15/2013
The waitress, Delores, is
exceptional, and the food is quite wonderful. We always have a special time there."
Dined on 11/1/2013
Food excellent, noise level loud
on a Friday evening. A little small and seating crowded, but service was good, nice village ambience."
Dined on 11/1/2013
Truly the best crust I have ever
had on a pizza. Tasted homemade and fresh. So delicious! We'll be back!"
Dined on 10/20/2013
Dinner on a Friday night. There
were two in my party. We split an entree salad and ordered a 12" pizza. This size pizza was plenty food for two, pizza made with fresh ingredients, had great flavor. Thin crust must be homemade. Salad was good as well. They have a variety of beers and wines to choose from. Service was great, we had a reservation and were seated immediately."
Dined on 10/19/2013
First of all, our reservations
were for 7PM; we arrived at 7:06PM. As we walked in the owner greeted us with a "good you are finally here as were just about ready to give your table away"! We were seated and then waited for 10 minutes before anyone came to greet us, give us menus, take drink orders, etc. That didn't set well especially the way we were greeted (by the owner) when we walked in. The wine (drinks), appetizers, and pizza were all really good and I wouldn't hesitate to go back again for those. The service is what would really hold me back from returning."

Villa Dolce is in a charming house
with a front porch in downtown Middleton. The pizzas (especially Pear & Gorgonzola) and gelatinis (martinis made with gelato) are fantastic. The servers are very friendly and attentive. The décor and sound level are perfect for a romantic evening or date. The tables on the front porch in nice weather are especially wonderful. I love this place!! I can't imagine Middleton without it."
Dined on 10/2/2013
Our party of three sat outside and
shared a Waldorf salad, baked mac-n-cheese and the Arugula and Prosciutto pizza. All were delicious, but the pizza was fantastic. Service was very good but a little slow, as is typical I find for outside dining."
Dined on 9/5/2013
My only regret is not trying it
before now. Excellent food, good service. Great place to meet a friend for lunch/dinner or even a great place for a date!"
Dined on 9/5/2013
I have dined at Villa Dolce many
times over the past few years and every time has been wonderful. The ambiance is warm and inviting whether dining inside or outside. The wine list and specialty drinks are varied and unique yet still contain some favorite reds and whites. I have tried many of the appetizers, salads and entrees as well as the pizzas and all of them have been terrific. They are made with the freshest of ingredients with attention to detail (The Thai chicken pizza-every bite has just the right flavors, the mushroom ravioli has a light marsala wine creme sauce with layers of different flavors and The princess torte for dessert-textures of the marzipan, cake and tart raspberry are simply amazing!) Love this place!"
Dined on 8/22/2013
The food here was quite nice, and
the service was excellent. They also have great variety of specialty pizzas to choose from in addition to nice dinners; the salad we had was also awesome. The atmosphere is quaint, and very appropriate to a nice local in town restaurant. I had the beef bolgonese and it was excellent, and my wife had a beef pancetta, leek and artichole pizza, which she said was also excellent."
Dined on 7/28/2013
I know they are supposed to be
known for their pizza, which is good and all, but chech out the mac and cheese! I wish it was an entree instead of just an app....so good!"
Dined on 7/27/2013
One of our favorite restaurants in
the Madison area. They are always willing to accommodate special requests for seating outside and never fail to delight us with their menu offerings. Service is exceptional."
Dined on 6/29/2013
We were a party of eight. We were
seated promptly inside (there is outdoor dining if you like) in a room with just one other party of about as many people. Wait staff was attentive and friendly. About half our group had a variety of pizzas that are on the menu and all enjoyed them. The rest of us also enjoyed our dishes with just one exception - the ingredients as explained were not quite was was delivered ( a ravioli dish ). All in all a very good experience and we would recommend it for the food and the casual, friendly, unrushed ambience."
Dined on 5/18/2013
Our food was absolutely amazing!
We started with the goat cheese bruschetta, and then I had the New York NewYork! My steak was mildly undercooked but nevertheless very delicious. We came for the gelato, so of course we had to try the pistachio gelato. While my friend preferred it as is, I had preferred actual chunks of pistachio. It was still VERY good! Service was excellent as well. Thanks for a great first experience and see you again soon!"
Dined on 5/17/2013
I went to Villa Dolce with my
family to celebrate my birthday. The cheese board appetizer and pasta dishes (wild mushroom ravioli and butternut tortelaci) were great, the pizza was "a bit weird," and the steak was judged "lackluster." The desserts were amazing. I especially recommend the Chocolate Eruption. The espresso they use is good, but the cappuccino I got was a bit lacking--the milk was not foamed correctly. Our waitress was nice, but vanished inexplicably at the end of the evening, leaving us waiting to pay the bill."
Dined on 5/11/2013
The pizza was pretty good as was
the gelato, but overall I'd not return as there was nothing exceptional about the place. Salad should be dressed in the kitchen rather than the dressing being served on the side in a plastic cup. This is one of my pet peeves and one way to tell a higher quality restaurant from one that is just mediocre."
Dined on 5/6/2013
Villa Dolce is like an excellent
pair of dark wash jeans- you can dress it up for a nice dinner, dress it down for a more casual lunch, or just put on some flip flops for a gelato run. The food is great, the atmosphere is relaxed but not sloppy, and the outdoor dining area is enjoyable (at least when it's not too hot outside to breathe). The menu isn't perhaps as gluten-free friendly as other places, those with wheat allergies and sensitivities can find and customize some excellent, delicious choices. Because of the layout of the establishment - set up in an older neighborhood house - they might have a harder time accommodating larger groups, although I'm sure they can make something work, especially with advance notice. Go and enjoy!"

The food is always fresh, tasty
and unique. The pizza is sooooo good. Lots of interesting flavor combinations and healthy. I highly recommend it. The service is quick and friendly. The price is very reasonable."
Dined on 4/27/2013
Excellent food with excellent
service. Never had anything I didn't love here; desserts are to die for."
Dined on 4/19/2013
Great service. I wish I could
remember her name. (We were the 6:30 pm Friday night group of 5 under 'John Teevan'."
Dined on 4/18/2013
Delicious pear and gorgonzola
pizza with arugula, though would like more gorgonzola taste. Good mushroom pasta. Good wine selection. Cozy seating, crowded."
