A word from Villa Capri Ristorante
Villa Capri is a small privately owned Italian restaurant located in Carmel Valley. Chef Antonio was born and trained in Italy and has brought his amazing talents here to San Diego. Co-owner Salvatore is from the island of Capri and has brought all the charms of the island with him to share with us.
We are a local favorite where everyone comes to relax and enjoy without the dishes to do afterward. Our cozy fireplace and friendly staff will make you feel just at home.

  • Now we remember why we haven't

Now we remember why we haven't been here for years. Location is comfortable and pleasant. Bread was delicious and warm. But other food was underwhelming. Caesar salad was completely bland, not good quality lettuce. Penne alla norma (a dish I love anywhere) was totally unappetizing. Pasta wasn't particularly good, sauce wasn't particularly good, cheese was flavorless, and the eggplant wasn't properly roasted so it was not appealing to eat. Luckily I was able to share another guest's pizza, which was tasty enough. Service was only fair. Unfortunately, no reason to return.

The first time I went to Villa Capri was better than this one, but it was still very good. I don't recommend the halibut ravioli - pretty weird and flavorless. All other food was great.

I was expecting just another neighborhood Italian restaurant - I was pleasantly surprised to find Villa Capri to be SO MUCH MORE! Every bite was excellent and not the standard fare. Flavors were fresh and not loaded with breading or cover-up sauces. Each ingredient spoke for itself. Top it off with very good prices too. Definitely a return in my book.

Very good neighborhood restaurant (in a small shopping center). We've been there multiple times and the food ranges from good to very good. On this last visit, the swordfish special was just average -- I'd suggest sticking to the veal and the pastas but we'll go back and I recommend it overall.

Food was good and reasonably priced. Restaurant was fairly quiet on a weeknight which was good and added to our dining experience. Server was not as attentive as some of our favorite places.

Great food and service. Good value too. A bit noisy and you don't want a table by the door on a wintry night but overall one of my favs.

Nice little neighborhood restaurant. All at the table found their dishes to be very good. Service was very friendly but could have been a little more attentive. I had to ask for more water and that was shortly before we left. The noise level that particular night was quite high but then it is a kid-friendly/family restaurant and I can understand that. Overall, we had a very nice dinner and will definitely return to try other dishes.

This was a great place, food was delicious but the table next to us had 2 kids that were noisy and all over the place. It would have been appropriate for someone from the restaraunt to politely request they tone it down. Why don't other parents realize that most of us go out to get a break from our own for a couple hours...

Charming little place with a fireplace inside, although the weather was too warm for it to be in use the evening of our dinner. Both the salad and the pastas were delicious. It was quiet so I could have a conversation with my client, however I would return with my spouse for a romantic dinner when I have the opportunity.

Overall, the dishes at Villa Capri tasted quite good. The calamari was nice and tender. One of our pasta dishes had slightly undercooked pasta - a little too al dente for our liking. The linguine vongole dish had tender manila clams and the pasta was more of the al dente that would've been nice for the penne. Aside from this, service was good, parking was good and the place was not too crowded on a Sunday at 7pm. There were about four other tables when we arrived. We made reservations earlier in the day and took advantage of an online deal.

    MattDVIP

This was our second dining experience at this restaurant, and we were disappointed both times. This time, my pasta was undercooked (there is al dente, and then there is CRUNCHY) and my companion's pasta was clumped together -- even the basic home cook knows that you need to stir linguini or it will glue itself together. AND, her 'spicy shrimp pasta' was incredibly bland; the most spicy thing in the dish was the basil. Our apps were equally disappointing, being under-seasoned. In short, you can make better food at home. They were clearly understaffed (one waiter for the whole place), but that doesn't excuse covering my pants in pepper from the pepper-mill. It was all over our table and my clothes. In short: big service issues.
