Vignola & Cinque Terre
Elegant experienceIncredibly fresh, delicious food served elegantly by attentive wait staff!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMwould go back!!Found Vignola online and hoped it would be good; it didn't let me down. It was easy to get reservations through Open Table, the atmosphere was delightful, service friendly and attentive, and the food classy and yummy.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious!I took my mother here for Mother's Day. The food was delicious and the service was great. Our only complaint was that the food took a while. This surprised me since it seemed like it wasn't that busy. Other than that, I willl be back!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMthe best in PortlandThis was our third meal in Portland over a long weekend, and by far the best. We dined at some of the other highly recommended places before this, but Vignola was exceptional. Service was very good but not hovering - it really bugs me when someone is there too much, tells you more than you want to know, asks more times than they should if everything is ok - but that was not the case here. Friendly, helpful, but not over the top.
The food was just spectacular - squid, berkshire sausage on polenta (who would have thought a sausage could be so exceptional), duck, cornish game hen, good wines at fair prices, a decent vinsanto to finish the evening - just lovely! The food matched the best I've had in the northeast - Brooklyn, Philadelphia, etc.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMBrunch was AwesomeWent for brunch and was pleasantly surprised how good the food was and the attentive service. Can't miss those $5 Bloody Marys. Been to the Farmer's Table many times and it is quite good but this place is right next door and not nearly as crowded.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Old Port Italian meal!On our recent visit to the Old Port, we had an excellent meal at Cinque Terre! Our party of four tried everything from the pasta to seafood to meat and each was excellent. Ingredients, were fresh everything was cooked to our liking and the spicing/sauces were tasty but not overbearing. If you prefer a quieter dining experience, ask for a table in the back room.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our first time inThis was our first time in the combined restaurants. The food and service were just as great as Cinque Terra. If your looking for a quiet dinner this is no longer the place to go. Seated next to the bar, we felt encroached on and though energetic, it was way too load for a romantic dinner. We will probably come again but we will certainly be more selective of a table. And we had reservations! Why should we not have gotten a better table?4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMthis is a wonderful restuarantthis is a wonderful restuarant with great food, great service and pleasure to go to4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food really was a "Wow".The food really was a "Wow". The environment, while not anything out of the ordinary, made for a nice dinner setting. Waitress was a bit sarcastic.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was a wonderful meal andIt was a wonderful meal and wonderful service! Food is incredibly fresh and elegantly served.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMLove the cheese menu, greatLove the cheese menu, great service, very good food...4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMA gemA gem in many ways: food, service and attention to detail. An extensive cheese list, olive oil tasting, and food fit for goodies and vegetarians. I highly recommend it.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMI have been to the restaurantI have been to the restaurant a number of times and was coming back while on a visit to Portland. I had made a reservation. When I arrived we were seated in the back room where there was no one but us while there were tables available in the front section with better light. I did not like that.
I am not a "regular" and perhaps they were holding the other tables for others with reservations.
Food was very good.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful ambiance, knowledgeableWonderful ambiance, knowledgeable servers, great wine choices and a delightful dining surprise in the heart of portland!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AM-Oysters on the half shell-Oysters on the half shell contained very little of the brine by the time it reached our table.
-They don't seem to know how to make a martini. I have ordered one on several occasions and each time have had to remind them to add the vermouth.
-Scallops were cooked perfectly each time I have had them.
-Sole is was very tasty3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely dinner and I love theLovely dinner and I love the feel of the place. I casually mentioned it was my friend's birthday -- no candle in mind. They entered with a graceful (no song, thank God) candle in her dessert. Very sweet. I LOVE the hostess. Paige is a gem!3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMLove this bar! And their food!!Great local, neighborhood place. But go before May, after October, so you can get in. Very Good bar. Tasty. Pricey wine, but they'll help you and are all quite knowledgable. Kitchen works hard. Gotta do their cheese plates. All local, close to home small farms. Very good. Won't do the steak again. Although quite good, it's wasted there. Eat pasta!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful Space, Good FoodI really enjoy the space that Vignola occupies - exposed brick, big windows, great lighting - it's really beautiful. The service was good, very prompt and courteous. The coffee was great, and the food was very good.3/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
