  • "My husband and I have been going to this restaurant for many many years. We are never disappointed in the food or the service. It is consistently great. We also find that we never get as far as the menu because the chef specials are....well...special! I am fussy about my ravioli dough and here it is exquisitely thin so the flavors of the veal or lobster can be appreciated. The martinis are also legendary. Highly recommended!"

  • "This was one of the best Italian meals we have experienced in California at very reasobale prices for this type of restaurant."

  • "I had work guests from NYC in town and wanted to take them to a restaurant with a laid-back ambiance and great food. I selected Vigulucci's Cucina Italiana because I have had previously excellent experiences. This was no exception. The food was excellent, everyone cleaned their plate. The wine was perfect. And everyone enjoyed dessert and after dinner drinks. It was excellent all the way around."

  • "Dined here in March, 2014. We were seated promptly upon arrival. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. Started with a basket of crusty, warm bread and olive oil/balsamic. Wine list was extensive and included affordable selections. The menu had standard Italian fare along with some house specialties. Nice choices. I enjoyed the sea bass special and my date, veal ossobuco. My plate included rice and asparagus. The bass was tender and well seasoned. Asparagus tender and not over cooked. I enjoyed every bite and cleaned my plate. My date's Osobucco was tender and falling off the shank. He said it was perfectly seasoned and delcious. Vigliucci's downtown is a great choice. I highly recommend it."

  • "What a great find... The food was great tasting; the presentation was beautiful; and the service was right on point... I'd highly recommend this great place. All 5 stars all the way around!!!"

  • "Food and service were very good. Unfortunattly.we were seated next to a very large table. We were unable to hold a normal conversation because of the noise level."

  • "Might have been a lovely, slow, low-lit old-school Italian dinner. But it wasn't. It was obvious they wanted us in and out as quickly as possible, and cared not to turn off the bar TV running syndicated series from the 90s. We were in and out in 30 minutes, no joke. We ordered and were served literally 3 minutes later, followed by the bill at the table not 15 minutes later. We will not be returning. Overall disappointing. Food was a "B.""

  • "We were celebrating a friend's birthday and made reservation for 7 people. We had a great table. We brought our own champagne and they provided an ice bucket to keep the bottle chilled. The service was great and all appetizers, entrees, and desserts were excellent. Would highly recommend this place for a special evening with friends or a romantic dinner."

  • "I really only enjoy to eat Italian food, and we took my sister there. It was seriously so amazing and that's all I can say!! It was seriously some of the best food I have ever had."

  • "Food and service were very good. I ordered eggplant parmiganna. However, the chef determined that the eggplant was not good enough that day,and refused to serve it. I appreciated that."

  • "The service was very attentive. The only minus was the abruptness of the servers. I speak Italian, but the waiter (born in Italy) refused to converse. I get few opportunities to practice and I relish such occasions."

  • "Have had good experience before, but this time the food was quality was poor! The veal was terrible!"

  • "I love Vigilucci's Cucina Italiana. The menu has so many delightful and delicious items. I love trying out something new but I do have my favorites for days when I don't want to make a decision. Ambience is always just right. The service is spot on."

  • "Service and food were very good. Always at the Vigilucci's restaurants we get tasty food and above average service. A bit over done on the 'are you done with that' but I have noticed that more and more over the last 2 years or so as a trend - do not leave dishes lingering on the table."

  • "I felt the gnocchi was very tasty with just enough sauce to make it right, not dry or gooey. The salata alle pere was particularly lovely! Our waiter recommended a wine that went well with what was ordered and the service was as it should be -- attentive without being intrusive. By affordable I don't mean cheap but reasonably upscale. I appreciated the table linens, the table settings, and enough space between the tables that I didn't feel squished or trapped. I recommend this restaurant and plan on going back."

  • "The food at Vigilucci's Cucina Italiana is up to par with what we expect from all the Vigilucci's restaurants, which is to say it is very good. That in combination with the exceptional service we received made our evening one of the most memorable we have experienced in a long time. Our waiter was so incredibly attentive, and his timing was perfect. I can hardly wait to dine there again and plan to tell as many people as I can about our wonderful experience. NOTE: we just spent a week in Manhattan (NYC) and enjoyed what is arguably the best Italian food outside of Italy. The food at Cucina Italiana is as close to NY Italian as I have had in California!"

  • "Something seems to have happened to this restaurant that used to be our favorite Italian neighborhood gem. This was the second time we were disappointed. Some of our complaints include bread that seems to be undercooked, and marinara sauce that all of sudden seems spicy...did they add cayenne pepper to the marinara? I asked for lemon salad dressing as a substitution and got the balsamic and when I complained, the waiter did not want to take the dressing back (it was on the side..so should not have been a big deal at all). All these are very small little complaints but when taken as a whole on two different occasions, well there are a lot of other restaurants in the area."

  • "We went here for brunch on a holiday and the service was awesome. We had a great seat by the window. We had one young child in our group and the server had the chef make her special french toast. I would definitely go back...Great martinis and great service!"

  • "They seated us next to the bar, it was very noisy and we couldn't have a conversation. If you want to talk, request the other room or patio."

  • "We've been there several times. The food never disappoints. We went on Valentine's Day, and they had their act together service-wise. I got the lamb, my wife got capalacci with butternut squash, I got some she-crab bisque and we both each had the molten chocolate cake for dessert. The only thing I will say this time around was that it seemed like the prices have gone up, and for the amount of food we got, I would say that the food was too expensive, which I hope will not be a trend."

  • "I remembered why I loved this place so much. I called to push back reservations half an hour. We got there 20 minutes sooner than expected and they say us within 5 minutes. It took about another 5 minutes and the food came to us within 10-15 minutes of ordering. Super friendly and amazing food and service. Definitely one of my best restaurant experiences."

  • "Went there for Valentine's Day. 5pm Reservation. It was fine. Nothing particularly outstanding but nothing to complain about. Have been there once or twice before. Same reaction this time. Their assortment of restaurants have been popular. Meal presentation is good. Wait staff is pretty good. I would recommend it."

  • "We hadn't been to Vigilucci's in a while and forgot how good the food is. The staff is charming and the food is good. I started off with a creamy carrot soup which did not include cream followed by grilled vegetables with crispy polenta. The vegetables were so delicious. My spouse had the eggplant which came with a small side of pasta simply prepared with garlic and olive oil. The dining room is cozy without feeling cramped plus there is a heated patio for those who like to dine outside. The limoncello gelato was a perfect finish."

  • "Had a friend visiting from Vancouver, British Columbia, and I wanted to to take her someplace special. The ambience and service at Vigilucci's was outstanding. Strongly recommend the ravioli, and my friends Sea bass was delicious."

  • "Restaurant week Ordered off the special menu. Salad was ok and nothing special but the LOBSTER RAVIOLI was fabulous. Generous portion of large ravioli topped with shrimp and a light sauce. Our waiter was nice, but did not talk much although service was very good. Water glasses were always filled to the top!"

  • "I went for lunch with my boss for restaurant week and it was amazing. It took a while to but with three courses it is hard to do it quick and not get rushed. This would be an excellent lunch date location."

  • "We booked the reservation with friends for San Diego Restaurant Week. None of us had been there before. Reviewed the menu online and looked at the Yelp reviews before booking. We made a great choice. Lots of selections from the fixed price 3-course menu. I think we will be back. The problem is there are so many great choices here in the Carlsbad area."

  • "While visiting SoCal my husband and I happened upon this restaurant while in the neighborhood doing some wine tasting nearby. So very glad we decided to make a reservation for the last evening of our trip. I only wish I could pack this place in my suitcase and bring it back with me!"

  • "Went to their old restaurant in Oceanside several years ago and was totally unimpressed. Decided to give this one in Carlsbad a try as we had heard god things. Went during San Diego County Restaurant week..on a Tiesday...and the place was quite busy. The chicken Parma was very good...took tender and with a tasty sauce. Others enjoyed their scallops, as well as the lobster stuffed pasta. The wine list quite comprehensive enough so that finding a suitable pairing is no problem. All in all, we will gladly go back."

  • "There are 2 and this one is without an Ocean view and it's an older restaurant. It feels small & cozy inside because it is limited in space but they have done a good job on it. The entire staff seemed to be attentive and ready to help out. Bar Tender blonde girl, she was super great and funny. We had drinks before dinner as our friends were running late so we sat there chatting ordered drinks & she had us try a sample martini drink she had just made. We went on Sunday for restaurant week and at first thought it was for the restaurant by the beach so the host called the other restaurant to make the appointment over there then I found out they weren't dong restaurant week menu so opted to stay at the one downtown. Filet Mignon was excellent!"

  • "Vigilucci's is always so good. The food and service is Always excellent at any of their locations. I have been to both of the Carlsbad locations and the Coronado location. I would have to pick Coronado as my favorite. Love that a lot of the wait staff speak Italian. Adds to the ambiance."
