  • "Lovely spot! beautiful weather so we sat on the patio for dinner. Menu is extensive. It is basically possible to get veg or your choice of protein with your choice of pasta or risotto and sauce. The menu is not written this way but it looks basically true. We shared a tasty arugula salad - they had run out of spiced walnuts so server offered to comp or change salad. I had chicken marsala which comes with side of pasta and asked for marsala sauce on the pasta instead of the light cream sauce - "no problem!". Hubby had calamari pasta. Both dishes were piping hot and delicious. Not cutting edge California cuisine but well executed traditional dishes and superior service in a great atmosphere. Bread was complimentary and hot."

  • "I’d like to extend a belated Thank You to Gessica and the Vieni Vai Team for a memorable Cal Poly graduation luncheon for our daughter. We had a very special table outdoors for our party of 12. And although we had a large group, service was attentive with good timing on drinks, appetizers, and main courses. The special graduation menu made it easy for ordering and included a good selection of appetizers and entrees which was served with Italian house salad. Everyone at our table enjoyed every dish served -- a favorite was the Lamb Shank cooked in red vegetable sauce over a bed of risotto. Delizioso!"

  • "Looking forward to a special dining experience on Mothers Day on the Creekside terrace, but the incorrect information by the waiter and the surprise limited menu was very disappointing. What was available was tasty, but overpriced...a hamburger for $14? Items that we were told was unavailable on this day was served to other tables. While or waiter confessed this was his first day, that doesn't excuse spotty service and knowledge."

  • "the atmosphere is friendly and the place looks authentic, unfortunately the food is terrible...I would have rated it 3 stars for the ambiance and staff friendliness, but our 4 season pizza came out short of any meat and the waitress took it back and threw some cold chewy prosciutto on it--very disappointing"

  • "This is a fun place to eat. An open air feel of Europe and wonderful service. The food was great if you went with the traditional Italian theme. Do not go with the salad as a main meal. It was plain and bland. For example, I ordered a Shrimp Caesar and the shrimp was cold, with tails on and not seasoned. It would have been better if the shrimp was seasoned and warm or grilled. It was off putting. But, the other Italian pasta dishes were really good. The best was the appetizer of cheese, olives, walnuts and figs - totally perfect with my Syrah! I recommend this place."

  • "My family and I had dinner at Vieni Vai after visiting CalPoly. What an amazing meal! If you make a reservation, make sure to specify inside or outside as it is a completely different atmosphere. There was some confusion about the reservations; however, the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating while we were waiting. My family and I have spent a lot of time in Italy sampling real Italian food, and we all agree that this is the most Italian restaurant we have been to in the States. The pizza was the most notable. It was identical to real northern Italian pizza. Fresh baked in an imported wood burning oven, they are filled with intense flavors. Vieni Vai also has an excellent wine list for any wine aficionados out there!"

  • "We made reservations for Valentines night not realizing that the restaurant would only be serving a preset menu at $45 per person. We decided to go ahead with the dinner knowing that it was Valentine's Day but expecting something special for that price. We have eaten at this restaurant in the past and always enjoyed our meals spending usually no more then $65 for the two of us for the entire meal. The portions served for their prefix Valentines menu were less than half the size of their normal portions. Overall a very disappointing dinner."

  • "Had the chicken Caesar salad - grilled marinated chicken was delicious and loved the Caesar dressing... only negative would be that the menu said shaved parmesan cheese and it was shredded... just a preference, but the shaved cheese was partly why I ordered it."

They had a children's menu and pizza for the younger ones (or not so young) and a great menu and wine list for the adults. The noise level of the restaurant was important to me as I have a noisy family. It was pleasantly "energetic" and I didn't feel like we bothered anyone. A great time was had by all, young and old!"

  • "We had a group of 9, and were in town for Parent Weekend. While our table was ready for our reservation, the service and delivery of food was slow. Only 1/2 the party was served and then the other 1/2, 15 min. later. :( That was not well planned or executed. Also, my son's pizza was made incorrectly. All of this was surprising since it was late, 8:45 reservation and restaurant looked slow at the time. The food was good and then ambiance was nice."

The food was absolutely amazing. when we first sat down, we were presented freshly baked bread and eggplant tapenade that made you just want to have that the rest of the night. My pasta with prosciutto and creamy alfredo sauce was just to die for. My mouth was watering when it came out, and I left with the greatest taste still lingering in my mouth. Overall, it was just a great lunch!"

  • "The owner greeted us upon our arrival, which was nice. The food was excellent! We sat outside, away from the crowds and watched the ducks in the creek. We had a big group and the outside venue was very nice. Our waitress was either very busy or very forgetful, but we had a wonderful time."

  • "My husband raved about the calamari but I was disappointed finding the sauce bland and the calamari rubbery. My seafood salad was huge with plenty seafood but I asked for the dressing on the side and there was literally a huge pool of dressing at the bottom of the plate making it impossible to eat the lettuce. Everyone else enjoyed their food but I was disappointed"

The waitress was very attentive and patient with us as we made our wine selections and ordered our food. The food and experience was wonderful.   • "While the food was quite good, the restaurant was packed, our 5-person table was cobbled together with the fifth person tacked onto the end (nearly impossible to get out of the table from the inside, had to literally climb over the chairs). If there's no room, don't allow reservations! Service was exceptionally slow. The waitress was kind but did not check back to explain (or apologize) for the long wait for food, drink refills, etc. With children nearly falling asleep at the table waiting for food, this could have been handled better. We went elsewhere for dessert, fearing an order at the restaurant would entail another hour's wait. With the abundance of great restaurants in SLO, would not return to this one after the experience."

  • "We were seated right away and it was busy because of the nearby Farmer's Market. Everything was very good. My soup did not come out before the meal so I traded it for a dessert. The staff was friendly and the honored by Entertainment Card discount. If you sit near the window on Farmer's Market night you can see all of the action without being in the middle of it."

He explained the specials, beautifully, which we ordered a few and were delighted with our choices. We enjoyed the ambiance very much . It was a warm night so we enjoyed our outside table very much. We got a kick out of watching the people walking by. We highly recommend this wonderful Restaurant and look forward to returning ourselves. Thanks for the wonderful night."
