VieThe food is unbelievable! The food is unbelievable! We normally go downtown for a special occasion, but not anymore. We will be making Vie a favorite and definitely recommending it to everyone we know!6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMNever Fails...EverThis is restaurant is such a delight every time we go (which is often). The atmosphere is sophisticated and relaxing. I love that diners dress well to come here as the food is worthy! The food...creative without being fussy, deliciously simple and unexpected flavors that surprise over and over. Chef clearly has a passion for his craft. Cocktails are as creative as the food and service is attentive and knowledgable without being intrusive. Perfect.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMperfect eveningWe really enjoyed this vist to Vie. We brought my parents for their wedding anniversary, and everything worked well. The service was excellent, the food was amazing, and the staff was very kind with their remembrances of my parents' anniversary. Highly recommend for a festive, special evening, but do be prepared for a big bill. To enjoy drinks, one appetizer, a main and a single dessert to share at the table, you should count on $100 to $125 per person (which includes tax and tip).6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMexcellent foodThe chef/owner, Paul Verant, has a remarkable talent and knowledge of food. The dishes here are very upscale American, classically done, but with fresh insights and top top quality. We are foodies, and appreciate this restaurant as one of the favorites in the topmost level.
The knowledge, quality of ingredients, preparation, tastes are just sublime. Any dish surprises and brings great pleasure. Its a very special place.
The bartender makes the most extraordinary drinks - subtle, flavorful, deep tastes that emerge over time. I enjoy anything he makes.
We were there on a Friday night, and had a wonderful time - unlike many city spots, the noise level was just right - you could have a conversation and good food!
Highly recommended.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent tasting menu pike was greExcellent food service ya
The pike was great and the whole tasting menu wonderful5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat for a special dinnerMy wife and I dined at Vie on a weekday for our anniversary - we were not disappointed. The wait staff was courteous and attentive. The food was very good and our server made some special considerations for us to share our entrees. Excellent.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMLucky find in the western burbs.Paul, the owner/chef, worked magic in the kitchen and our server Amy was knowledgeable, attentive and professional. The bartender -- sorry, but lost his name -- was a master. A real find. We live 100 miles away, but we'll be back soon.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMHow to make locally grown food POP!My first visit at Vie was one to remember. It had all of the things I love. Locally grown produce (I wish it were organic), grass-fed beef, and gluten-free options. The burger (sans bun) was delish and the amuse bouche was devine. What a way to start your evening! The char and charcuterie was amazing. We also enjoyed a cheese plate to top it all off.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMour second time there, andour second time there, and everything was absolutely terrific. will definitely be back.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome dinner at VieTry to make it to Vie a few times a year, usually with a big group of friends, which they always accommodate flawlessly.. It's a very special place with amazing, creative, inspired food and great service. Worth the trip from the city. Really doesn't get any better in my opinion.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful by any measure! We weren't sure what to expect at this very upscale BYOB. What a treat! Amazing food, impeccable service, attention to detail and unique! A must-try. A bit pricey even if you bring your own wine but worth it!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMUnexpected in Western SpringsIt's behind Village Hardware, of all places. A bit pricey but not outrageously so. We were originally seated in the room furthest back, which was too noisy for normal conversation, so we asked to be relocated and it was much nicer up front. A few moderately priced wines would have been appreciated, as there were only a couple on the wine list for under $50. We ordered a pinot noir but afrer a long wait were instead served a bordeaux. We didn't want to make an issue of it so we kept it and it was fine. All of the courses were painstakenly prepared with interesting combinations of flavors. The dressing on the house salad is amazing. I would recommend this restaurant for special occasions.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe've been to Vie severalWe've been to Vie several times, and this visit was typical: impeccable food, service, presentation. The restaurant was noisier, however, likely due to what appeared to be interior remodeling. Being older, we didn't care for the energetic atmosphere, but understand that it appeals to a younger clientelle.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMCity dining in a suburban localeWhat a gem this place is. Definitely a special occasion restaurant. Food is creative, delicious and always generous portions.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGREAT food and service. TableGREAT food and service. Table seating layout is bad. Everybody can hear everybody elses conversation. Need a better layout.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMCouldn't have been better.Couldn't have been better. No wonder Vie is a "destination" restaurant in the western suburbs. When we arrived, the hostess was most gracious in changing our table to accommodate an elderly member of our party with limited mobility and did this in such a way as to not embarrass her. Our server, Thierry Menguy, also a wine director at Vie, was most knowledgeable, attentive and charming, taking the time to chat with our table, especially with our guest who was born in France as he was. I ordered a fish dish that came with hush puppies and I thought, HUSH PUPPIES, those greasy balls of dough served in the South, but I trusted chef Paul Virant and was rewarded with a light, delicate side that was more like a fine pastry. He's a genius!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMUnique pairing of foods beautifullyUnique pairing of foods beautifully served. Airy, elegant decor. Can be a bit noisey. Accommodating for my lactose intolerance.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMSunday Supper at VieSunday Supper is a great opportunity to enjoy a family dinner with the kids at an outstanding restaurant.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely deliciousWe went on a Sunday for a great deal - the $30 per person prix fixe dinner. Choices were excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the lovely French wine special as well. Lots of kids were dining and we could hear quite a bit of noise in the main dining room but it didn't bother us in the front room. Nice chance to try this special place for a good price. Excellent service. We will be back.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always, Vie hits it outAs always, Vie hits it out of the park. I wouldn't say we're regulars, but we come here about once every month or so. Choosing an appetizer was difficult, because all the choices looked so, um, appetizing. Scallops, gnocchi, or duck sausage? I was set on the burger, which was perfectly medium, with nice think bacon. As always, Vie gets a 10/10 for me.
Time to pop an extra Niacin and head to the gym.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMVie is an "A+"!Pronominal cuisine! Impeccable service! Vie is an "A+".4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThere are not enough superlativesThere are not enough superlatives to describe an evening at Vie. Outstanding, excellent, magnificent, memorable. Our server was extremely knowledgeable about all of the food. Everything was perfect from start to finish.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMOur first time...lovely room,Our first time...lovely room, service friendly and attentive...sweetbreads awesome...my walleye dish was ok,the inclusion of fideo pasta made for a rather sloppy presentation; simpler would have let the fish shine...waitperson mispronounced "chinato"...nit-picky, I know, but I love it when people get these things right...great cocktails...we enjoyed, will return and recommend...4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious, fresh, and (mostly)Delicious, fresh, and (mostly) locally grown food. Our duck and trout were memorably unctious. Nearly all dishes (except beet salad) were a hit. Very gracious and helpful staff. We will be back.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMwent for Chef Chicago. Thewent for Chef Chicago. The 1st course was quite good for both diners, but the whitefish was exceptional. The main course was not as good. The cod was good, but not wonderful. The beef dish, unfortunately, was tough with quite a bit of gristle -- not really up to the standard one expects.
Desserts very good but not exceptional.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a hit at Vie!Food, service & ambiance are always exceptional at Vie! We had the wine pairings with the "Chef's Week" menu. These guys are pros! The pairings were absolute home runs!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMLoud people shouldn't drinkSat in the back room with very loud people. I couldn't hear the woman directly across from me. The food was excellent! It alway is!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently great food andConsistently great food and service. We go for the tasty food that we wouldn't find/order elsewhere.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a wonderful dinnerWe had a wonderful dinner during Chef's week. We enjoyed all three courses, including the great cocktails. Can't wait until we have another opportunity to head to Western Springs for another special evening.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMI believe I would like toI believe I would like to try Vie again. The service was stellar, as was the ambiance and noise level. However the food did not "wow" me. I feel this is in part due to the "set" chef's menu. The beef for my second course was not warm at all. As I am a chocoholic I chose the napolean dessert, not really fresh tasting, and mediocre. I did have the whitefish for an appetizer which was flavorful.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother great visit to VieThis visit was for their Saint Patrick's Day Sunday Supper family-style special and it didn't disappoint. It doesn't matter when you go though, it's always good. The best restaurant in the 'burbs.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMAMAZING DINNERVie is such a great experience. From the service to the food, everything is perfect. One of the best meals of our lives. We will be back!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMVie is the BestThe food was great and the service was fantastic. It was expensive but well worth it. I will never forget how wonderful I was treated and the romantic setting.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I had dinner forMy wife and I had dinner for the first time at Vie in Western Springs and we were very impressed with the unique dishes that we had off of the menu. Chef Paul and his staff always deliver and this night was no exception.
From cocktails through dessert and after we were treated great and ate terrific food. Although all the servers are spectacular, if you are lucky enough to be seated in Thierry's section you are in for a extra special dining experience.2/22/2013 12:00:00 AMBreathtaking food!
