A word from Vie
The first restaurant in Western Springs to serve liquor since prohibition, Vie offers guests the opportunity to experience urban fine dining in a warm, relaxed village setting. Conveniently located steps from the Metra station, Vie attracts food-conscious diners from the entire Chicagoland area. Guests will find sanctuary in the intimate, gracious dining room housed in a two-story red brick building in the center of Norman Rockwell’s Americana. Chef Virant’s cuisine reflects the seasons, local harvests and the world becoming a smaller place. While the menu celebrates artisanal foods and local family farms, it also takes advantage of the increased availability of specialty foods from across the globe. Vie features Seasonal Contemporary American cuisine inspired by Western European cultures and rustic fare. Virant elevates familiar dishes by relying on the simplicity of a few, high-quality ingredients.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Everything was great as always, and it was a very nice birthday dinner. Thank-you, see you soon.. Al and Shari."

  • "My boyfriend and I chose Vie for our 9th anniversary dinner, and we couldn't have been happier with our choice. The food and service were both excellent. We were happy to see that you could bring your own wine which really help cut the cost so we could enjoy more of the fantastic food. We were presented twice with small dishes compliments of the chef. It seemed as if they did this for everyone as I was observing, but it was still extremely nice and made us feel special. We will definitely be back and I highly recommend Vie for anyone celebrating a special occasion. I already persuaded my mom to go there with my dad for their next anniversary!"

  • "Cannot say enough good things about our dinner. We were celebrating a special occasion and this was definitely a special evening. The food was delicious, the ambiance delightful, and our server was outstanding."

  • "My first visit to Vie, and certainly not the last! Excellent food & superior service. The cocktail & wine list was most impressive as well. Certainly one of the finest dining experiences I've had in the western suburbs."

  • "The service was outstanding. There were four of us and we ordered a few appetizers and two entrees to share with lots of wine. Everything was terrific. Our group was obviously having more fun than everyone else in the restaurant. This was the first time I experienced this type of crowd. The air was so sutffy you could cut it with a knife and lots of attitude. The staff treated us great and seemed to enjoy our relaxed table. They were very knowledgeable with the wine list and food as well as personable. I will go again. The menu changes and I love that."

  • "Dinner at Vie was everything we hoped. It's not an "over the top" experience like many of the 4 and all of the 5 star restaurants. It's really great food and well prepared, fancy but not pretentious"
    Dined on 3/29/2014
  • "The Staff and Chef were very friendly, kind, informative and engaging"

  • "We went for an anniversary dinner during chef week. Between us we ordered everything on the prix fixe menu, and it was all spectacular. Several items i wouldn't have tried ordinarily but we both ate literally every bite on each plate. And the portions were perfect, very satisfying but still wanting more. Service was excellent:attentive without being overbearing. We didn't take advantage of the wine or cocktail list since we brought our own bottle (a great idea, btw) but the options were extensive. Really enjoyed our meal and will definitely be back!"

  • "This was our second time at Vie and we absolutely adore the restaurant. Both times, we have gotten the Chef's Tasting menu and it is truly outstanding. The service is always top-notch and the servers take time to talk with you and explain the dishes and wine pairings. We are made to feel like we are their only table."

  • "Once again, we enjoyed a very nice meal and evening at Vie. The food and service are terrific. I also very much like the fact that the restaurant never has that feeling of being crowded. They don't jam in tables in every available square foot. You can converse easily and enjoy your dining experience. Also, it's located in an area that isn't overrun with a ton of other establishments, so you can almost always actually park your car within a half block's walk from the place(for free)."

  • "James Beard awards are not given lightly and this place really deserves its many accolades. The food was splendid--beautiful plating, unusual ingredients (pickled asparagus) and wonderful flavors. Service could not have been more attentive yet was not at all intrusive. The decor is modern and clean...the music choices in the background were interesting rather than being "flat." We will certainly return and tell our friends about Vie!"

  • "We had a great experience and took advantage of the Chefs' Week menu, which gave us a lot of choices for an affordable price. Inventiveness and quality of food was superb, and each dish impressed us. Service was top notch; the only minor gripe was a bit of a delay while we sat and waited for service after we were seated. Great food, great cocktails, simple/comfortable decor and pleasant atmosphere."

  • "Went during Chef Week--our second time there. Did not disappoint. Service was great-attentive but not over bearing. The 4 courses were prepared well. My husband and I enjoyed all the food. The mushroom soup was outstanding. The trout very nicely prepared. This restaurant can compete with any fine dining places in Chicago--the only difference is easy, close and free on street parking--imagine that!!"

  • "Pinch me...I can hardly believe this restaurant is so close and so easy. Would you believe we had the best ever St. Patrick's Day supper at Vie? At an affordable price?! Thanks Paul, et al, for Vie and Sunday Suppers in Western Springs."

  • "Took my Parents out for my Mother's Birthday. They were first timers to Vie and enjoyed the St. Patrick's Day family style brunch very much. Noted the Birthday in my OpenTable reservation and they brought out a special dessert. Overall the service was excellent, the food was even better and the drinks a perfect compliment. Definitely one of my favorite places to eat and celebrate life's milestones..."

  • "Vie is an absolute neighborhood gem. The food is consistently amazing and diverse, changing beautifully with the seasons and with distinctive and surprising ingredient combinations. From the moment you walk in the front door to the moment you leave, the welcoming "Vie family" culture is evident--they enjoy what they do and for whom they work, and that is clearly reflected in the outstanding service Vie staff provides to its guests."

  • "had a great night at vie. had a pierogi app that was suprisingly killer. entrees were great, and there's good variety of entree choices. we had a server that is one of the better servers i've ever had. the whole service team did a great job"

  • "We had an absolutely wonderful anniversary dinner at Vie. Dishes are innovative and have surprising pops of flavor. Wine pairing was excellent. Our evening was topped off with a tour of their kitchen and pantry. This was a weeknight. Busy enough to to feel alone, but slow enough to get very personalized service. Excellent restaurant!!!"

  • "Vie has a BYOB policy - corking fee is high ($25/bottle) - given the price of wines on their list, worth the effort to bring your own bottle - unless only having soem wine by the glass."

  • "We were SO sad when Courtrights closed. We didn't know what we would do, but Vie is fast becoming our new favorite!!! Food is excellent, service is attentive and you can actually carry on a conversation with your dinner partner!"

  • "A delightful experience!. We were treated like old friends by the staff. Special attention by chef Paul who custom prepared each dish for my wife who has many food allergies. Our waitress carefully screened each course for potential allergenic ingredients and every dish was a culinary tour de force. ."

  • "I was coming home from a business trip and decided that I would suprise my fiance with a nice evening out. The staff was VERY attentive. We never felt rushed or had to wait for our food. It was a well paced meal. The portion sizes were perfect and well metered for their positon in the meal. The presentation was impecable. And the wine list was full of hidden gems that our waiter, when prompted for advice, was quick to point out. Definitely will be back."

  • "The atmosphere is eclectic and minimalist in a way that is classy, but you come for the chef's creativity. The food was excellent and the mix of flavors very successful. We tried the trout and the winter meal, both were delicious. You would not think of a carrot salad as particularly appetizing, but it was unusually flavorful. The chef obviously has a touch for combining tastes. The chardonnay was a great selection. Alas, such treats come at a price though, so bring your rewards card."

  • "The food was excellent, as was the service. I had the beef combination which was wonderful. My wife ordered the burger, which came with brussel sprouts and not fries. As a meat and potatoes person, I took issue with this, but when I tried them, I quickly changed my mind. They are dynamite! When I made my reservation on open table, in the 'special request' box I jokingly wrote 'free food'. To my surprise, our waitress brought a bite size appetizer and dessert. Well played! Will definitely be back again..."
