Diner Reviews
  • "I've been to this restaurant probably 4-5 times now. I love the ambiance of this restaurant. The service is always fantastic and they are always so friendly. The specials that they have are always so different and delicious. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends."

  • "Wonderful recent meal with very good service. Only complaint was they "were out of cream" for the coffee I ordered after dinner."

  • "My first opportunity to dine outside since October. Excellent dinner from the soup to the entree; a great experience."

  • "This is a friendly, family-style BYOB restaurant. The food is delicious,, the service friendly and efficient, and being there is just fun. The seating space is small and on a party evening the noise level can get way up there for the hard of hearing. In the summer, though, on a soft, warm evening, dining on the patio, under the Chinese lanterns and among the potted magnolias, can be worth celebrating all by itself."

  • "Tough to find a bad item on the menu; anything you order will be good. The presentation is often as great as the food, too."

  • "Looking for a new place to dine for my wife's birthday and a friend recommended Vidalias. Reservations online were easy and confirmation was very courteous. The location was quaint but 'tight' for our table of two. A ice bucket kept our wine cold, but there was no room on the table to keep it there. The food was delicious from apps to dessert. You could easily tell that fresh was the order of the day. The staff was very attentive and polite the entire evening. I sent a note with our reservation to let them know we were celebrating my wife's birthday and the restaurant did not forget. She received a special dessert decorated with a birthday message. We have a new favorite local spot and hope to go back soon."

  • "Had a reservation for a party of two for an early lunch. Despite the emptiness of the room, we were restricted to one of the three tables for two. Salmon was covered in oil and the salad was limp due to overdressing. Stay home."

  • "A special for the evening was pork loin and it was absolutely delicious. There is always a little extra something to the food at Vidalia that has made for many outstanding dining experiences over the past few years."

  • "We have been going to Vidalia since they opened and we keep going back. First it is close to our home and second the food is always excellent and the service is always friendly and good."

  • "Always fresh, epic duck, and the seasonal confections created in this small venue almost make me want to keep it a total secret!"

  • "Love Vidalia, whether with a small group or just an intimate dinner, the food is always outstanding. The people who work there seem to love it, and it shows! Thank you again, one of our favorite spots!"

  • "We moved to the area recently from a place where we were surrounded by excellent food and where my love for and enjoyment of that food earned me many friends with the owners/chefs at the restaurants we used to frequent. I was truly sad to leave those restaurants and wondered if we would find anything similar by our new place. Then we stumbled into Vidalia's and I was thrilled! The service and the food are always top notch (it's a byo so be prepared). Everything tastes so fresh and authentic -I love eating here, and every client I have brought here has been impressed with it as well. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the waiters are personable and knowledgable, and the food is delicious -- haven't had a bad meal there yet."

  • "This was my first time here, so I base this on one visit. This little place is charming..small dining room, but not cramped or stuffy. Our server was friendly and attentive. Since this is a BYOB establishment, we brought our own wine. I ordered duck with mashed sweet potato & my partner got "lover's scallops" which were tender and flavorful. We were both happy with our food. Overall, this place is romantic with good French influenced food. Tucked away in the little town of Lawrenceville, I hear they have tables outside when it's nice out."

  • "As you enter this little gem, you get the feeling of energy. Service was great, food was great and for such a small place, the noise level wasn't so bad. Only negative was the bread they serve. It was dried up garlic toast. That surely wouldn't stop me from coming back."

  • "Made an excellent dinner on the duck special. It has been a special several times over the past few weeks, but this was the first time that I tried it. Glad I did; it was delicious!"

  • "My girlfriends and I went on a weeknight and we had a very good meal. The service was great and we stayed a long time and never felt pressured to leave. We would definitely go back."

  • "I have had so many wonderful meals at Vidalia; the quality is very high, as is the creativity of the recipes. One of the very best of very many BYOB, Italian restaurants in the Princeton area."

  • "What can I say. Sal always comes through whether we order from the menu or specials. Service is always wonderful and professional. It has been, since the first time we spent there, been our favorite."

  • "Busy night -- very efficient service. Food was OK but have had better there. They were out of chocolate desserts. Lovers Scallops was good except tomatoes were not quite ripe and too much dressing on the salad. The meal was not hot."

  • "I met two friends at Vidalia the other evening. Had not seen one friend in years - even longer since I had dined at Vidalia. It was a lovely evening. The food was excellent, service attentive and friendly but not intrusive and the atmosphere was cozy and attractive This really is a little gem,"

  • "The meal was excellent, the tables are close together and when our server described specials, my wife and me, both ordered one. Since the tables are close together we overheard our server describing specials and realized he neglected to tell us about a duck special which I would have ordered had I known about it. a small oversight and the food was excellent just the same. FYI: this is a BYOB establishment."

  • "I have reviewed this restaurant before and it continues to satisfy. This neighborhood gem is our new local favorite since we moved to Lawrenceville last year and the food and service continue to be amazing. We usually do not go on a Saturday night but this time we did with another couple. The restaurant seating was tight and crowded and had a noisy energy that was fine for a foursome but a romantic couple would have been challenged to have a quiet conversation. But the vibe was great. And the food and service more than make up for the crowding. I suggest going on a week night to fully enjoy this gem."

  • "We went for a work-related dinner. The food was excellent at this small, local BYOB Italian restaurant. A little on the expensive side, but we knew that going in. I had the duck, and it was the best I'd had to this point. The service was great, and no one had any complaints."

  • "This was an excellent dinner from the sausage escarole soup to the chicken scarpiello. I have had both on many occasions and have always found them to be outstanding."

  • "My husband and I decided to spend Christmas Eve alone and chose to visit Vidalia. We couldn't have picked a more perfect venue! The restaurant was crowded, but the clientele were in the holiday spirit, which added to the ambience. Our server was outstanding--the best I can recall--and our food was exceptional! We decided that night to make reservations for next Christmas Eve, but will likely visit Vidalia multiple times between now and then."

  • "This was our first time at Vidalia, and it was recommended to us by a friend. My husband and I went to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We loved it...the food was amazing and the service wonderful! Definitely plan to go back!"

  • "My husband and I recently celebrated a wedding anniversary at Vidalia's. When I made the reservation through Open Table, I indicated the special occasion and requested a table by the window. When we arrived, the table was ready but no one mentioned our anniversary. After a fabulous dinner, complete with endless garlic bread that was out of this world, we were completely surprised when the server brought over a tiramisu dissert on a plate with "happy anniversary" written in frosting! So unexpected and sweet...a perfect ending to our beautiful evening!"

  • "First time at this neighborhood gem. Small but cozy. We were in the area for a doctor's appointment and decided to try a new place for lunch after the appointment. Excellent food. Owner/chef visited every table to check on everything. Owner was polite, warm and friendly. We will definitely dine here again."

  • "Vidalia has become an annual tradition during the Christmas Holidays since we first stumbled upon it 5 years ago. It's well worth travelling an hour one way. The traditional Italian food is exquisite. Our waitress highly recommend the duck special of the evening - it was truly amazing - cooked to perfection. If it hadn't been so highly recommended I would not have stepped out of my comfort zone. Looking forward to returning sooner rather than later."

  • "The food here varies from good to very good, as does the friendly service. A recent beet salad was excellent, as was the onion soup, while trout was tasty but overcooked. It can get very noisy in such close quarters, especially if one patron is very loud."

  • "Our dinner was absolutely wonderful. Our server Meghan was equally wonderful and a visit to our table by Sales was delightful. Our new favorite place to dine. Jim and Randi"

  • "We have recently returned to Vidalia after many years absence. No reason, just seems to have happended that way. In the last month we have eaten there twice and the food both times has been delicious. The New Year's prix fixe meal was nicely prepared without the usual heavy upcharges. Four courses for $69 per person was very reasonable in the context of the high quality food, nice presentation and very ample portion sizes. In short, we now have a new favorite and are kicking ourselves for the lost years of high quality dining that we have missed."
