Diner Reviews
  • "Something for everyone with consistently good food and service at a reasonable price. "

  • "Very good food. Service was great. The crab nachos were unique and everyone really enjoyed them."

  • "Service was horrbile. You will not enjoy your meal unless you enjoy being rushed and having the staff run you out of the restaurant."

  • "I enjoyed eating outside on a nice sunny day and people watching. The margaritas were great as was the salsa, but the food is really sub par. Had BB chicken that was burnt to a crisp and just smothered in cheese. Had to ask the waiter for silverware and napkins after we finished the salsa. Shouldn't really have to ask for those things."

  • "Dined here on Friday night with 6 people in our party. Our server, Matthew T, was extremely Inattentive and every time we needed something we had to flag him down. It was clear that he wasn't busy, he just did not care. I am a server so normally I am very understanding when I go out to eat. This was not the case this time because he was not even trying to provide good service. The food was pretty good and I will more than likely give vida another try (with a new server)."

  • "The lunch combo deal was great! My pork and green chile soup was amazing. It was very crowded, very glad I made a reservation."

  • "The food at Vida is great. I was disappointed by the service during my recent visit. The waitress wasn't able to answer my questions and when she brought us our cocktails in plastic cups, offered the explanation that they were just serving them that way on this particular evening. When the manager came by to see how everything was he was already on to the next table before he'd even finished his sentence to us. Our waitress also disappeared with our credit cards and the bill for an extended period of time. I'll cut her some slack here as it was a busy evening and it was later in the dinner hour, but it just capped off an overall disappointing experience and one in which I was introducing out of town guests to Charlotte's dining community."

  • "The food is always consistently good at Vida. The server hurried us a bit at the end of the usual lunch rush."

  • "Always satisfied with guacamole portion of the regular size order and the tacos are always full of flavor! Excited about the new addition of Vida Vida bar scene..it was fun during Pub Crawl"

  • "I have no complaints. I went to Vida to catch up with some old friends and had a wonderful time- our server was great at communicating with us, the tacos were fresh, and the drinks were cold. And the guacamole? To die for!"

  • "Went here for an early dinner on Sunday night. About a third of the complimentary chip basket hadn't been cooked long enough - limp with no crisp - yuck. My first margarita was in a rather small glass packed with ice, and basically consisting of 3 good swallows. So I ordered another one rather quickly, which came without a fresh lime. When I asked the server to bring a wedge, she replied that they were out of limes. What? A Mexican restaurant with no limes? She said they had been "slammed all weekend" and were out of alot of other stuff too. Needless to say, the rest of the dining experience was no better. There are way too many great restaurants in this Charlotte vicinity to ever feel the need to return again."

  • "Had a business lunch during the week. Noise level was low and holding a conversation was not a problem. Food was excellent and service was very attentive. Reservations are highly recommended as it was very busy during lunch. Will definitely go back."

  • "Our overall experience was great. We had reservations for 6pm.we walked in at 5:50 to our table. All the food was wonderful from the chips and salsa to the appetizers and both entrees. Dinner was served at a speedy rate. Drinks never empty. Knowledge and friendly wait staff. Reasonably priced. A little noisy....but very upbeat atmosphere. I will be going back and would recommend."

  • "I went in with high expectations but wasn't wowed. It was overall good. The food was good, service was decent but I doubt I would go back. There are too many great restaurants to visit to waste time at one that was just ok."

  • "We had been here for dinner before and really enjoyed it so we decided to try it for brunch. It was fantastic. They have a great brunch menu and everything was beautifully prepared. Nice to have something to choose from other than variations on Eggs Benedict."

  • "We eat here 2-3 times a year. Always a great choice! Creative Mexican fare and specialty margaritas make for a perfect evening. The guacamole is deliciously fresh and we love all the enchilada choices. Wc had wonderful service this last visit!"

  • "While normally my food is excellent, I feel like my meal was a little rushed. I assume this is because it was restaurant week. Usually my food is fantastic and as for this occasion it was okay. I will come back again and see if it was just this one time. Hopefully not!"

  • "Service overdone to the point where we felt rushed to order and drinks kept being refilled before we done were being balanced into space on th table (we each had two glasses at one point). The waiter was "too efficient" for his own good. Took our appetizer plates before we were done. The chips and salsa were the only thing we liked; chips were warm and toasty, salsa had just enough spice. The carnitas were so greasy they gave me indigestion. The refried black beans were tasteless and the rice was dry. My son, who is 5, normally cleans his plate whn he eats Mexican, he barely ate half, then we had to buy him a hot dog at the circus. Would expect more for the price and the location. We love Roosters, wish we had gone there."

  • "We went to Vida Cantina for the Queens Feast Restaurant week. We were very pleased with our choice and their menu offerings. Chips and salsa were very tasty and fresh. The pinto bean soup was amazing and our entrees were very tasty. I had carne asada, which was very good. My boyfriend had the salmon and asparagus salad and I would recommend that to anyone who loves asparagus..Different but delicious. Great atmosphere and nice margaritas!"

  • "My wife and I had date night after the Opera and choose Vida Cantina. The food was amazing. I had the Carne Asada and my wife had the surf and turf tacos. The steak on her tacos was a little under cooked but she didn't specify what temperature while ordering. The orange Mojito was amazing best I have had anywhere."

  • "We've been there before and had some friends staying uptown from out of town. This was a great loca for them to walk to, and enjoy the night life afterwards at the Epicenter. The food was excellent-especially the guacamole-and the service was just as good. Extensive menu."

  • "Not absolute authentic but the dishes stand out. Not your normal black beans and rice. Try it"

  • "The experience was alright except for the experience with the hostess. Checked in and informed her I had a reservation. She would not seat me until my party (of 3 arrived). I stood at the front and watched parties of 3, 4, 5, and 6 be seated! Second person of my party arrived and she still would not seat us right away. Wouldn't you seat a party of 2 at the same place as a party of 3?!? Finally after much prodding she say us. Our third person never showed up. Sure glad the hostess didn't make us stand at the front of the restaurant waiting on the third person of our party to arrive. Why make a reservation when you can walk in off the street and be seated before a person who made a reservation? Isn't that the POINT if making a reservation?"

  • "Not a good restaurant, certainly not worth the $$$$$ during restaurant week. Our server did a lousy job. The house Margarita was disgusting. Dessert wasn't fresh. Not my place of choice."
    Dined on 1/24/2014
  • "It was my second time and food is very testy and tidy presentation. Tortillas chips are the best in town"

  • "Outstanding service, food , ambiance and atmosphere. Should a late evening Margarita be in the plans, I would consider going o Vida, quaint bar scene is quite nice. For lunch or dinner with the kids it can't be beat. Brilliant menu. Make sure the kids understand this isn't taco-bell beforehand !!"

  • "I went to Vida Friday night after the basketball game, the waitress was rude and impolite, she demonstrates poor customer relations skills, it look like she was annoyed when we were asking for something, it took my friend more than 20 min to get a beer. love the place was very disappointed with this last visit ... Not sure if I will come back or refer to my friends."

  • "Had a group of 6 out for dinner Saturday night. There were a lot of other larger parties that kept the energy up but service never suffered - the bar was quite busy but we had our drinks in a timely manner & did not wait long for our orders. We've been here quite a few times - highly recommend the Bull Rita - and it's usually crowded so definitely make a reservation."

  • "I was part of a group of six and were able to walk right in and get a table, which was nice. Margaritas were very good. As a group we ordered three apps....guacamole (delicious), queso (wasn't my favorite; I thought it had an odd off flavor) and then the ceviche(tasted like they put ketchup in it...gross!) My family is Peruvian and we have friends who are Mexican...so to say the least, I love ceviche and have had it several different ways but I couldn't have been more excited and then sharply disappointed than I was with this dish. But with that said I and another member in my party ordered the Carne Asada and it was awesome! Very tender and well seasoned. I think everyone in the party were overly satisfied with their food and drinks."
