My experience at Victor's was overall very good. The service was excellent and the food was outstanding. My biggest problem with Victor's was that it was extremely over-priced. The last time I was there was several years ago. The food was just I remembered, excellent! But, paying 138 bucks for 2 drinks, 2 entrees, and 2 side dishes is a bit much when it comes to Spanish food. I understand that it's a nice place, it's in the theater district but we didn't order lobster or filet mignon. We just ordered fried fish and salmon which only came with one order of rice and beans to share. If the prices were more reasonable, I'd definitely go back regularly but not at these inflated prices. It's really a shame.

Came to NY to see my first broadway show. Wanted a place close by the Broadway Theater to both park and have dinner before the show. Never experience Cuban food before and did not know if I would like it. Left wondering why it took me so long to try the food and with the anticipation of when will I be able to get back and try other dishes on the menu.

We didn't realize that the restaurant was just across the street from the show we were seeing that day. We cancelled our other reservation and ate at Victor's instead. The food was fantastic. The service was great. Our waiter was very attentive and never missed a beat with whatever we needed. When he heard it was my husbands birthday, at the end of our meal he brought us a dessert...with a candle! What a surprise. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. You will be delighted.

The painting along the side wall of Victor's main dining room is a gem--some of expressionistic Cuban feel of people, tropical setting and beautifully done and hung. Servers were very polite but all moves quickly--not an intimate setting--very lively--nice tables with enough room--we were 3--and a delicious birthday flan. Food was very good--flavorful. Dining room has gorgeous chandeliers--we would def return--noise level is def energetic but we were seated along painting wall and could converse fine. Great place to go.

I have been going to Victor's since 1970s for paella. This time the paella was exceedingly salty - so much so that it ruined the taste. Asked the waiter about it who said he would speak with the chef. Never got a reply. The appetizers were excellent, as usual. Ambiance was excellent as usual. Might have been an anomaly as they just reworked their kitchen the day before? It was disappointing, especially given the price, which I am happy to pay when excellent...but it was not this time. If there was a rating for "Disappointing" I would have used that.

We have been to Victor's several times and always enjoyed it, particularly the Cuban music ensemble. The service is always friendly and exemplary. The food has typically been creatively and well prepared. On this particular occasion, the diver scallops and the ceviche were exemplary appetizers. The shrimp enchilada was also superior as a main course. However, the skirt steak churassco posed several problems. The first time the waiter brought it, the inside was raw, even though my wife had specifically requested that it be medium rare and not raw. The waiter apologized, removed it and returned ten minutes later with steak that was well done and very tough. At this point my wife decided to make the best of it and not request yet another try.

Whenever I have the money to go out, this would definitely be one of the top choices; you can't get great Cuban food anywhere. I'm a sucker for lechon (or as my own heritage allows, pernil), so I was so happy to see that it tasted so good! I wish they had churros though; they ran out that day. :(

I have eaten at Victor's for many years, even when they had a second restaurant on the Upper West Side. I go there occasionally because I like Cuban food, although I have eaten better Cuban food elsewhere. My steak was delicious but I felt like I was eating in a factory without much attention to the table. The portion of black beans for the table was stingy and mostly sauce, not too many beans. When I complained they did bring me another portion of black beans but with attitude. So it will remain a neighborhood restaurant and when I run out of choices of food to eat I will probably go there again, unless a new Cuban opens up in the neighborhood. Sorry.

We get into the city at least once a year, usually for a show or special occasion. Victor's was recommended to us by a friend a few years ago, and we have been stopping in ever since. The food is consistently good, and the wait staff exceptionally courteous and efficient. If you're not familiar with Cuban cuisine (my wife and I certainly were not a few years ago), I recommend their sampler plate. But my favorite dish is Ropa Viejas, one of the house specialties. That, a few appetizers and a carafe of their freshly made Sangria, is a perfect meal. Look forward to coming back.

I had always wanted to eat at this restaurant. Portions are not overly big. We had the lecon and I had the special fish. Both kinds of bland. The pork was salty. I would not go back. Didn't feel very impressed. Drinks and ambiance are very good. We went around 6 p.m. so it was not crowded.

Took my husband and family to Victor's for Sunday brunch before seeing Jersey Boys. What a wonderful time we had. Greeted and treated with such respect and courtesy. The drink menu was fun to experiment with. A trio was playing beautiful Latin music to compliment the sophisticated new decor. The Cuban cuisine was delicioso! We ordered assorted appetizers to share. Each one surpassed the other. Entrees were timed perfectly and really highlighted the island flavors with plantains, yucca, and my favorite ropa vieja. We shared an assortment of desserts like molten lava cake with coconut ice cream, guava cobbler, & flan. I thought I died and gone to heaven! Thank you Victors Cafe !
