In a few words, we loved it. The bar was energetic with Cuban music with guests singing along. The presentation and smell of the food as waiters passed us by while waiting to be seated made our mouths water. Once seated we had fantastic mojitos (they have many variations) where the bar tender did not skimp on the spirits. I had the paella which included lobster along with all of the traditional ingredients. My wife and I could have shared it the portion was so generous. The ham crocket appetizers were delicious and almost melted in your mouth. My wife had a salmon dish that she loved as well. We can't wait to go back. We were there 30 years ago, then again 3 times in the last 4 years. I will visit Victor's every time I am in NYC. The food is fabulous and different from anything I have had anywhere else. The sangria is amazing. The fried sweet plantains are yummy, the paella is delicious, the salmon was the best I ever had, the rice and black beans a great accompaniment to the meal. The bread pudding and the cuban coffees were the perfect ending to a perfect meal. The service is impeccable, our waiter (Vicente) absolutely charming and I love the ambience of the restaurant. When you go ask any waiter how long they have worked there. Our waiter on Friday night has been there 17 years and his comment says it all. When Ed arrived, ad waited about 5 minutes and our table was ready. As soon as we were seated, we were immediately served water and delicious fried banana slices. The menu had both a special and the regular menu.
The food was amazing. The restaurant provided a decent amount of times between appetizers and entree, as well as desert. The drinks were delicious high recommend the sangria and the classic mojitos.
