  • "Victor's has a new menu, new chef and new prices. Although service is good, they push to upsell and no substitutions allowed which is unacceptable in my opinion. If I do not want a starch, I should be able to get a vegetable. Although food was good, portions were small and prices were high. My most notable complaint was for the trio of ceviche appetizer. It was literally 1.5 tablespoons of each with a price tag of $20. Really? I used to love Victor's but I am afraid to say I will not be back."

  • "Servers did not understand English. He wasn't as professional as he should've been. Our orders were mixed up and wasn't cooked as ordered."

  • "Victor's is a good Cuban restaurant with a varied menu. The ceviche was especially good. Portions are generous. Great for a quick pre-theater meal. Crowded and fairly noisy."

  • "Atmosphere was great. The food was great too. Bit pricey but all restaturants in midtown are the same"

  • "We had a wonderful dinner at Victor's. Frank, our waiter, was very engaging and took great care of us. The food was fantastic - and happily there were lots of great gluten free options. Noise level allowed for good flow of conversation over dinner. Looking forward to our next visit!"

  • "Our reservation was 5:15. We were seated immediately and waited on immediately. We were eating within 15 minutes! Our fingers were delicious, I had the house specialty and my husband had seafood. We tipped it off with a lava cake (forget the actual name) made fresh! Chocolate decadence with a scoop of coconut ice cream. I coukd have eaten 3. Overall delicious!!! A treat."

  • "I went to Victor's with a group of 7 of my co-workers (one from London). The food and sangria (red) were was good but one of the waiters was extremely grumpy/unfriendly. We all ordered. Our dishes all came with white rice and black beans. I asked him if I could have morro (and was happy to pay for it) because I wanted the out-of-towner to taste it. The waiter simply said "no" - no explanation or anything - just no! Because I didn't want anything to spoil our evening, I went along with it and had the white rice but needless to say I was very disappointed. Isn't morrow a staple in Spanish restaurants? Anyway, won't be going back there for a while. There are too many other Spanish restaurants that will be happy to provide morro!"

  • "Not much to say, the food was authentic, the service was very good, the ambiance was rather unique. I would definitely go there again, had a great experience."

  • "The food was great! The only drag was the service. Our server was very pleasant, but seemed to disappear when we needed something. The bus staff, while pleasant and courteous, tried to take our food away THREE TIMES before we were ready, and always interrupted right in mid-conversartion! It became laughable... I'd go back for sure, but hopefully the bus service will be a little less eager, and our waitress a little more on top o things."

  • "The food was good and the drinks were pretty good. The service was impeccable and made the experience more notable. Would have liked to sit in the back area which would have added to the experience but it was opened after we were already dining."

  • "I don't get Ceviche very often, but it was excellent at Victor's. You really cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. I had the house special, Ropa Vieja, this time around and can't complain. Girlfriend had the fillet, loved it. Sangria as usual is a little expensive, but tasted great. This time around we were closer to the door and got to listen to the live band from the lounge which kept it festive. Usually we are in the back room with paddle fans and wall art. Would highly recommend reservations."

  • "We have been to Victor's several times and have never been disappointed. We love the variety the menu offers and everything we have tried has always been perfect. The service is impeccable and friendly. They answered all the questions we asked and even gave me the recipe to a dish they serve. We will be back."

  • "Took my daughter and 2 friends for her 15 th birthday with my husband and a friend. My daughter is a picky eater and we all loved it. We ordered an assortment of appetizers and they were delicious. Great food and ambience. The service was great. I had a special request for them to sing Happy Birthday to my daughter and they honored it. Not knowing that they had a live band, it turned out to be a special treat for her. Most importantly, the food was really good. I picked the restaurant because it was near the Gershwin Theater. As a group of 6 from different Spanish countries we were all very satisfied. The reviews on line were good. Definitely going back again with my husband for our anniversary. We loved their live band."

  • "My wife and I had a reservation the day we arrived in New York, but we were late getting in. I called to see if they would take us a little later and they were very accommodating. On a busy Saturday evening we were seated quickly and were in and out in plenty of time to get to the theater. I was impressed with how quickly our drinks were refilled. The Camarones enchilados dish was delicious and the skirt steak was fantastic as well. I experienced the boniato (white sweet potato) for the first time. Reasonable prices for New York."

  • "This was our second dinner at Victor's Cafe in Manhattan. Great dinner, once again. The champagne sangria was fabulous! Service was terrific as we remembered it, and the appetizers (Ceviche de Pargo and Croquetas Corral) and entrees were fabulous. In my reservation, I had asked them to get us served and out in time for our 7 pm show. They didn't rush us at all and we were in our seats at the theater with time to spare. We really love this place. I always have some sort of fish entree and it's always been prepared to perfection. The others in our party have had the steak and the Ropa Vieja. You cannot go wrong with this great restaurant. It's convenient to the theater district as well."

  • "I've eaten at victors many times before. I enjoy it every time including this one. I was disappointed at the fact that open table allowed me to secure a reservation for a time that victors was initially unwilling to accommodate. I told them that I made the reservation through open table as I do every time and they were very surprised to here that. My reservation was for 2:45 pm and they told me that they are closed between 2:45 and 5:00 to prepare for dinner. To their credit they eventually made the exception which they should have, but I was still irritated that I met any resistance. I'm not sure if it was an oversight on their part or on open tables. The food was delicious as always and because they did the right thing I will return."

  • "This place was recommended to us as the best Cuban food in NYC. Yes, the food was good, but overpriced, and the service was unacceptable. The restaurant was not crowded and yet we, a party of four, were served after two large parties that arrived after us. Somehow they managed to get those parties in and out, with multiple rounds of drinks, before us."

  • "Unfortunately, I have eaten several times at Victor's Cafe and this has been the worst. The menu has been condensed to one page and the service was very bad."

  • "Lively atmosphere, Latin rhythms; excellent service at dinner on a summer Saturday evening. Adobo filet mignon was tender but adobo flavor didn't come through strongly. Ropa vieja, house special, was tender, not overpowering by any means. Portion sizes were nice, not too big. Only sides included were black beans and rice without much flavor. We enjoyed sharing seafood appetizer sampler - several distinct and delicious flavors. LChocolate lava cake with ice cream was delicious end to meal. I'm sure it would have been enhanced by tawny port, but I didn't go there. Bill for 1 appetizer, 4 drinks, 2 entrees, 2 desserts was 148 plus 13 in tax (plus tip of course), so it isn't cheap. We were in at 6:20 and out in plenty of time for 8 pm theatre."

  • "My wife and I went to Victor's café after seeing a Broadway show. We couldn't have been more pleased with our choice for dinner. Service and ambience were great, but the food was AMAZING! Try the braised oxtail or ropa vieja. They are both incredible. If your in Midtown, you have to go to Victor's!"

  • "My family had dinner after an afternoon Broadway show. We had a reservation and, despite being 15 minutes early, we were seated immediately. Our server was friendly, and made us aware of the specials. Our drink orders were taken quickly, and were served immediately. The appetizers were outstanding, and our meals were even better!! Being of Hispanic descent, we can truly appreciate good Spanish cuisine; our visit to Victor's Café did not disappoint. The ambience is outstanding, and we never felt rushed. An excellent find in the theater district; we will definitely be back!!"

  • "We have dined at Victors many times and have always enjoyed the meal, however, last night was not the case. We were celebrating our 38 wedding anniversary and expected the same attention to detail that we have always enjoyed. In contrast, we waited endlessly for orders to be taken. When our food arrived it was warm! And when dessert didn't arrive after sitting for 2 hours, we cancelled it in order to pay the check and walk to the theater, arriving 5 minutes before an 8pm show. Keep in mind, we had 5:30 dinner reservations. What we later learned, was that Senator Green from Michigan was having a private party in the restaurant. I'm assuming he enjoyed hot food in a timely fashion as did his entourage. The food was merely acceptable!"

  • "Had a very nice meal at Victor's Cafe when we visited NYC. The food was good and the atmosphere was fun for a Thursday night. Our table wasn't in the 'romantic' part of the restaurant and it was a little loud for talking, but not so much that we requested a change."

  • "Dined at victors cafe with friends loved our waiter . The food was fantastic. The whole menu is delicious. Will be back soon. Friendly staff."

  • "If you were to order salmon, rare, and it came cooked thoroughly all the way through, and you have a theatre curtain to catch, what would you do? Never go back to what is a mediocre but very convenient restaurant. That's our decision. The same critisism can be applied to the ceviche we ordered -- it had been sitting so long in the liquid that it was completely "cooked.""

  • "Victor's was not bad. The sangria was excellent. Their combo signature appetizer was a disappointment. The entrees were ok. Service was just fine. Ask to sit in the nice room toward the back with the ceiling fans and sky light. I might return if I was going to the Neil Simon Theatre."

  • "Victors was perfect for us because we were going to see Jersey Boys which was located across the street.. The only complaint was the waiter didn't tell us about the specials that night and we over heard another waiter telling the people next to us.. The Red Sangria was one of the best I've ever had."

  • "Attractive setting with a vibrant energy. You pay for the atmosphere, not the food. A little better than a wedding reception. While the Arroz con Pollo was more rice than meat, the chicken was ample and moist but the chorizo (1 checker size slice cut in quarters), 2 small olives, and sprinkle of asparagus were a meager light garnish. The Aquacate Relleno (stuffed avocado) was a nice appetizer that 2 could share."
