Diner Reviews
  • "We had a very nice dinner, but the noise level is HIGH! They need to add more textile/fabric elements to the walls/floors to reduce the sound levels."

  • "Vic's is a great restaurant in an historic building looking right out on the river. It is always packed so reservations are a must. The food/seafood is always delicious (and not overcooked), but the service can seem rushed. This time we got lucky and got a prime table right by the window. It can be very loud in the front room where the bar is, so ask to sit in the back room if that bothers you. They are always very accommodating."

  • "We went for our 1st night in savannah and our 15th anniversary and the food and service were fantastic! We would have gone a second night if we weren't still full from lunch! Definitely recommend it!"

  • "We had a great table by the window watching the ships go up and down the savannah river. Our service was excellent. Food was very good."

  • "My husband and I chose Vic's for our anniversary and we were not disappointed by any aspect of the experience. We made our reservation well in advance and were seated at the best table in the house. The service was 100% attentive and we were treated to the sound of piano music from the bar during the meal. Lighting was at the appropriate level for a romantic evening. The menu offered a variety of choices. We were pleased to receive a salad as a part of the meal. The food was delicious! The evening was topped off by a special dessert as a gift from Vic's. It was a perfect anniversary dinner."

  • "Notable tastes were the crawfish beignet and the pecan crusted flounder. Reservations are needed."

  • "We really enjoyed the Southern food and competent service at Vic's and would recommend the restaurant based on those two factors.. However, what made the meal really special was our table by a window. The restaurant was packed, so I guess we just had good timing."

  • "We live in Savannah, so we get to enjoy Vic's often. But for those from out of town, the food is excellent and the service fantastic. It is definitely one of those restaurants you don't want to miss when visiting town."

  • "We always take out-of-town guests to Vic's, and they are always impressed. Between the food, service, and a cargo ship or two, it never fails to impress."

  • "We had a wonderful lunch! Delicious food, Great service and a view of the river."

  • "We are from Massachusetts and this was our first taste of Savannah. We love good food and good wine; Wanted to experience Sourhern hospitality and cuisine. We were seated on the third floor overlooking the river near a balcony. Very romantic. As a matter of fact, a gentleman got on his knee out on the balcony and proposed marriage and she accepted! Our meals surpassed our expectations and service was wonderful. In addition we were entertained throughout the evening by a pianist and a vocalist; Both talented. All in all our experience was wonderful!"

  • "Visited Vic's with a fellow foodie and we were very happy with all that we ordered. Our favorite was the Oyster Rockafeller! Please book ahead if you'd like to get in, very popular dining spot. Waitress was very sweet and attentive but the hostess was a bit cold and never smiled, made us wait even though we had a reservation, though we ended up getting pre-dinner drinks at the bar which was nice."

  • "Very noisy most of the evening. For me, beyond energetic when can't hear other people at the table."

  • "Vic's is a good place to go for dinner. The food is tasty and hot. It is well prepared and you get what you expect when you place your order - no strange surprises. The two women in our group loved their flounder dish. The gentleman with the filet liked it and said it was perfectly cooked - again, you get what you ask for. I had the fried shrimp and oysters, and they were exactly what I wanted and were presented exactly as I would have expected from a nice restaurant. The service was competent and friendly, though nothing particularly special. Again, it was what I would expect from a typical upscale restaurant. Would I go back again? Yep, in a heartbeat. It was good."

  • "This is a nice restaurant. I had expected the food to be more flavorful and the portions to be larger for the money."

  • "Our dinner at Vic's was a highlight of our wonderful weekend in Savannah. The trip was a surprise for my wife. We enjoyed a bottle of wine, the stuffed pepper appetizer, and delicious entrees. The waitstaff was attentive and helpful, and the other diners looked to be enjoying their meals as much as we did ours. I would definitely recommend Vic's to anyone looking for a nice dinner on the riverfront in downtown Savannah."

  • "Had one night in Savannah and picked Vic's hoping for a great meal. We were seated promptly and attended to right away. The food selection was good and the entrees we picked were excellent. Our server did an excellent job. We did not sit by the window so were not able to fully appreciate the great views over the river but our table was fine. Was not disappointed and would definitely return."

  • "We come here often with guests to the lovely city of Savannah. Vic's never has disappointed. But tonight service was poor, courses came out at different times, and food was either cold or overcooked. We'll give them another try to redeem themselves. ."

  • "The food and service were great, the area we dined in was very loud and made it difficult to have a conversation during dinner."
    Dined on 3/21/2014
  • "This is a nice upscale and pricey restaurant in a popular tourist section of town, by the river. The service was good, food very good, but the wine list was full of cheap bottles of wine that sell in the grocery store for $6-10 dollars that they were charging over $45 for. I expect wine to cost more in a restaurant, but I prefer a more creative selection, not just hum hum every day selections. The food deserved better."

  • "A real pleasure and a great ending to a wonderful day of touring on the Trolly in Old Savannah. Good service, great food artfully presented. A really enjoyable culinary experience!"
    Dined on 4/4/2014
  • "We were seated by a window right away. We had a great view of the river and saw many large freighters going by. The service was a bit slow, the noise level was very high, and the food was fair at best. The scallops were very salty and the risotto they sat on were tasty but greasy. My son said his meatloaf was "ok" and my husband's chicken was very dry. This was a very expensive dinner and none of us finished what we ordered. We would not return."

  • "My best friend and I enjoyed our dinner at Vic's on the River immensely during our girl's visit to Savannah. The food was absolutely delicious, and our waiter was very attentive giving wonderful suggestions for things we might enjoy. The courses arrived at our table in a timely fashion and cooked to perfection. I have been to Savannah many times, and this dinner rates at the top of my list. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting this beautiful Southern City."

  • "We've been here many times - the food is always great, the staff is always knowledgable and friendly, and the ambiance is lovely. I love this restaurant, although you almost always need a reservation in the evening."
    Dined on 3/25/2014
  • "High noise level. Great view. Food very mediocre. Deep fried frozen flounder at a "fine dining" restaurant? Service slow with the high volume of business. Might be better for lunch, but we were certainly disappointed with our dinner dining experience."

  • "Dinner was very good. Had fried green tomatoes for the first time. Yum! Portions were extremely large. You won't leave hungry."

  • "We like this restaurant and go there whenever we are in Savannah. This visit was an exception. The scallops in the mixed seafood dish were very rubbery. I told the waiter who sent over the manager. The manager brought me another dish of scallops and these were still cold inside! We have never had a problem before and hope this was just an off nite. The restaurant did not charge us for the two main courses...well handled."

  • "Had dinner at Vic's last week. Seated in a nice bar area at linen covered tables with a view of the river through the windows. The tomato bisque soup with crab is great! Biscuits they serve before the meal are very good. We weren't particularly happy with our tuna but we just don't like fish/meat cooked rare and they couldn't seem to cook it to our liking. It's a nice place but I think overpriced for what you get. Our waiter was prompt but not very friendly."

  • "Dined here on a recent trip to Savannah. The food was great. Try the fried green tomato appetizer. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and pleasant. We had a beautiful table by the window. A very nice evening!"

  • "What a beautiful setting for a restaurant. The food is southern and so is the hospitality. Kudos to the wait staff for their considerateness and courteousness… Again “Southern Style and Charm” at it’s best! Thank you for a great experience!"

  • "Our waitress knew what the specials were but could not comment on them since she was not allowed to see them (???). The hearts of lettuce we were served were huge and exceedingly difficult to cut into mouth-sized pieces. One of my pieces shot off the plate and table only to land on the floor - where it stayed. But the biggest complaint is that the restaurant has no noise abatement. None of us could hear each other and had to shout. Concerning the food, my Chef's Special (seafood) the flounder, was very, very salty. Perhaps it was cooked at 5:30 and waited for me (our reservation was for 8:30). Overall, we won't be back - this was the second time we have been disappointed at Vic's and that's all they get."

  • "We have eaten here before on a very busy Friday evening, and loved it. However this time, was slightly disappointing. We got there at 6:45 where the hostess was going to seat us at a tiny 2 top right next to the hostess station. My husband said no to that table, she then huffed and sat us at a 4 table right in front of the wine racks. Our waiter Jason took out order for a bottle of wine and after 10 minutes of searching for it, told us the wine we wanted was not available. We ordered another- it too was not available. Finally, the manager offered us a bottle that he said was comparable to the first one at the same price. The food was good- shrimp and grits, fried pork chop."

  • "Of our five very good dinners on our recent visit to Savannah, Vic's was the best. While they had all the Savannah menu standards, they also had much more. The crawfish beignets in a very light pastry were astonishing. The seafood entrees were a cut above the other restaurants The elk was wonderful and a nice change of pace. The waitress combined a friendly demeanor with expertise and efficiency. Great place. Look forward to eating there again."

  • "went to Vic's because it was recommended by a friend, was our 1st anniversary and expected a charming night out, multiple dining rooms, ours was extremely loud, kinda ruined the evening since I was looking for romantic.........food and service was good........if you are looking for a loud energetic place this would be it, if you want romantic, not the place"

  • "The quality of the food was excellent with the only problem being that we did not care for the flavor of the sauce on the shrimp and grits, or more appropriately, did not care for it ON the shrimp and grits. The sauce was sweet vs. savory and just seemed to not be a good fit. Fried shrimp and oysters were outstanding. I have eaten at Vic's on multiple occassions and the food and service are always excellent."

  • "My husband and I recently dined at this restaurant mid-week while visiting Savannah for the first time with friends. We loved the atmosphere and setting. Additionally, the menu offers numerous food & wine selections so everyone in the party found something of interest to order. Two areas for improvement - First off, the noise level was very high. We had a difficult time conversing throughout dinner. Secondly, our waiter gave the impression from the time we sat down, that he couldn't wait for us to be done so he could turn the table. That was a HUGE turnoff. My husband and I are foodies, and dine at nice restaurants often; rarely have we encountered this."
