Diner Reviews
  • "Seated at 6:30 and finally got our drinks 25 min later. Food was average. Probably wouldn't return. "

  • "Our waiter, Robert, was outstanding. His recommendations were spot on and he was so attentive. The manager accommodated our advance request for a table with a view for our special occasion. Piano music was delightful. Try Crobb salad and beef wellington appetizer. Also, they have the best French 75 cocktail I found in Savannah."

  • " Food beyond wonderful. It was very noisy and tables were on top of one another. There were times that I could not hear my husband speak. We would definitely return!"

  • "I was disappointed with the food. The kids meals were bland. The sides dishes were not very good. The wedge salad included a bottle of dressing and piece of iceberg lettuce. Our waiter was not friendly or very timely. My wife's shrimp and grits was excellent. "

  • "we flew into savannah on our way to Hilton head. have never been to either. showed up earlier than reserved time but were seated immediately. the location is wonderful on the river. the wait staff was very friendly and informative. I loved the crawfish beignets. they were my most favorite meal the whole trip. definitely worth a visit. if I ever go thru savannah again I will definitely return."

  • "It was a delight to dine at Vic's. We were seated right by the window and the view was wonderful. Our waitress was very helpful. One of the people in our party was lactose intolerant and she provided us with just the right meal for her. It was also her birthday and at the end of dinner she brought us a beautifully decorated plate with Happy Birthday in chocolate and assorted sherberts. I would highly recommend this place."

  • "Vic's was recommended as a fine dining atmosphere to celebrate our 25th anniversary. Bar offers piano player and singer making conversation difficult. There is a window view of the River, but was too crowded to enjoy from the bar. Our table for dinner was in the middle of a very noisy dining room. No view. Several large groups as well as other diners competing to be heard over the bar entertainment and each other made conversation impossible. Our server, Jan, was very good. Our food was good, but not extraordinary. We left to have dessert somewhere else to get away from the noise. Had we been here before, we would not have gone here for this particular occasion. For drinks, good food and a lively bar crowd, this is your place."

  • "If you want quiet make sure they don't seat you in the bar. Food was great, not too pricey, and the service was great but for a dinner for two it was way too loud."

  • "Ate here on a Wed night via- last min open table reservation. Arrived fifteen minutes early and were seated right away. My husband had the scallops which were delicious, and I had the braised lamb. A little on the saltier side but still really tasty. Ate at the Old Pink House the next evening. Vics was by far and away better service and better quality of food. Surprised the ratings go the other way. "

  • "Food was outstanding, service was excellent and I would definely eat here again. I especially enjoyed fried green tomatoes served with pimento cheese."

  • "First time here and found on Open Table. Very impressed with food quality and variety of lunch selection. The view of the Savannah River with the surrounding area was spectacular. Table cloths and airy brightness through the windows added a classy feeling to our lunch. Service was excellent too. "

  • "Nice restaurant on the water with outdoor seating out front. Overall good place to eat. We went early so not too busy but seems to have regulars and tourists. "

  • "Four of us had a wonderful dinner at an early hour (5:30) when many restaurants are just gearing up. The very patient waiter was thoughtful as we managed a young baby while eating our dinners. The food was outstanding with several fish dishes as well as the rabbit ordered by our party. The beignets were terrific, as usual. Offering not a single rose wine by the glass was a mistake on the part of the sommelier. It is now widely consumed all year round and a restaurant disappoints when it fails to adjust the wine selection. All in all, a very nice evening."

  • "We decided to go to Vic's because of the list on Open Table. We had a short time in Sanannah And this was a perfect spot to enjoy the atmospher of Savannah."

  • "Best fried green tomatoes I've ever eaten. Other food excellent as well. Gracious, friendly, professional experience and pleasant environment. A top choice for Savannah dining."

  • "We went here for lunch on our last day in Savannah and I wish we would have gone earlier because I would have gone twice. The setting is beautiful, overlooking the Savannah river. Also there is a charming outdoor seating area. Food was wonderful, but the salad I ordered was a bit plain, should have been more adventurous like my husband who loved the fish tacos. Also the fried green tomatoes were the best we had in Savannah. Service top notch. Don't miss the historic civil war map on the wall inside. We will return."

  • "We had a very nice dinner, but the noise level is HIGH! They need to add more textile/fabric elements to the walls/floors to reduce the sound levels."

  • "Vic's is a great restaurant in an historic building looking right out on the river. It is always packed so reservations are a must. The food/seafood is always delicious (and not overcooked), but the service can seem rushed. This time we got lucky and got a prime table right by the window. It can be very loud in the front room where the bar is, so ask to sit in the back room if that bothers you. They are always very accommodating."

  • "We went for our 1st night in savannah and our 15th anniversary and the food and service were fantastic! We would have gone a second night if we weren't still full from lunch! Definitely recommend it!"

  • "We had a great table by the window watching the ships go up and down the savannah river. Our service was excellent. Food was very good."

  • "My husband and I chose Vic's for our anniversary and we were not disappointed by any aspect of the experience. We made our reservation well in advance and were seated at the best table in the house. The service was 100% attentive and we were treated to the sound of piano music from the bar during the meal. Lighting was at the appropriate level for a romantic evening. The menu offered a variety of choices. We were pleased to receive a salad as a part of the meal. The food was delicious! The evening was topped off by a special dessert as a gift from Vic's. It was a perfect anniversary dinner."

  • "We really enjoyed the Southern food and competent service at Vic's and would recommend the restaurant based on those two factors.. However, what made the meal really special was our table by a window. The restaurant was packed, so I guess we just had good timing."

  • "We live in Savannah, so we get to enjoy Vic's often. But for those from out of town, the food is excellent and the service fantastic. It is definitely one of those restaurants you don't want to miss when visiting town."
    Dined on 4/9/2014
  • "We always take out-of-town guests to Vic's, and they are always impressed. Between the food, service, and a cargo ship or two, it never fails to impress."

  • "We had a wonderful lunch! Delicious food, Great service and a view of the river."

  • "We are from Massachusetts and this was our first taste of Savannah. We love good food and good wine; Wanted to experience Sourhern hospitality and cuisine. We were seated on the third floor overlooking the river near a balcony. Very romantic. As a matter of fact, a gentleman got on his knee out on the balcony and proposed marriage and she accepted! Our meals surpassed our expectations and service was wonderful. In addition we were entertained throughout the evening by a pianist and a vocalist; Both talented. All in all our experience was wonderful!"

  • "Visited Vic's with a fellow foodie and we were very happy with all that we ordered. Our favorite was the Oyster Rockafeller! Please book ahead if you'd like to get in, very popular dining spot. Waitress was very sweet and attentive but the hostess was a bit cold and never smiled, made us wait even though we had a reservation, though we ended up getting pre-dinner drinks at the bar which was nice."

  • "Very noisy most of the evening. For me, beyond energetic when can't hear other people at the table."

  • "Vic's is a good place to go for dinner. The food is tasty and hot. It is well prepared and you get what you expect when you place your order - no strange surprises. The two women in our group loved their flounder dish. The gentleman with the filet liked it and said it was perfectly cooked - again, you get what you ask for. I had the fried shrimp and oysters, and they were exactly what I wanted and were presented exactly as I would have expected from a nice restaurant. The service was competent and friendly, though nothing particularly special. Again, it was what I would expect from a typical upscale restaurant. Would I go back again? Yep, in a heartbeat. It was good."

  • "This is a nice restaurant. I had expected the food to be more flavorful and the portions to be larger for the money."

  • "Our dinner at Vic's was a highlight of our wonderful weekend in Savannah. The trip was a surprise for my wife. We enjoyed a bottle of wine, the stuffed pepper appetizer, and delicious entrees. The waitstaff was attentive and helpful, and the other diners looked to be enjoying their meals as much as we did ours. I would definitely recommend Vic's to anyone looking for a nice dinner on the riverfront in downtown Savannah."

  • "Had one night in Savannah and picked Vic's hoping for a great meal. We were seated promptly and attended to right away. The food selection was good and the entrees we picked were excellent. Our server did an excellent job. We did not sit by the window so were not able to fully appreciate the great views over the river but our table was fine. Was not disappointed and would definitely return."

  • "We come here often with guests to the lovely city of Savannah. Vic's never has disappointed. But tonight service was poor, courses came out at different times, and food was either cold or overcooked. We'll give them another try to redeem themselves. ."
    Dined on 4/5/2014
  • "The food and service were great, the area we dined in was very loud and made it difficult to have a conversation during dinner."
    Dined on 3/21/2014
  • "This is a nice upscale and pricey restaurant in a popular tourist section of town, by the river. The service was good, food very good, but the wine list was full of cheap bottles of wine that sell in the grocery store for $6-10 dollars that they were charging over $45 for. I expect wine to cost more in a restaurant, but I prefer a more creative selection, not just hum hum every day selections. The food deserved better."

  • "A real pleasure and a great ending to a wonderful day of touring on the Trolly in Old Savannah. Good service, great food artfully presented. A really enjoyable culinary experience!"
    Dined on 4/4/2014
  • "We were seated by a window right away. We had a great view of the river and saw many large freighters going by. The service was a bit slow, the noise level was very high, and the food was fair at best. The scallops were very salty and the risotto they sat on were tasty but greasy. My son said his meatloaf was "ok" and my husband's chicken was very dry. This was a very expensive dinner and none of us finished what we ordered. We would not return."

  • "My best friend and I enjoyed our dinner at Vic's on the River immensely during our girl's visit to Savannah. The food was absolutely delicious, and our waiter was very attentive giving wonderful suggestions for things we might enjoy. The courses arrived at our table in a timely fashion and cooked to perfection. I have been to Savannah many times, and this dinner rates at the top of my list. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting this beautiful Southern City."
