Diner Reviews
  • "We were seated in a corner of the second dining room. It was fine until the room filled up and suddenly the noise level was so high you couldn't hear or talk to the person next to you without leaning in. Nothing to absorb noise except for a piece of carpet in the middle of the room, everything else is a hard surface. It made for a very uncomfortable dinner with our 86 year old aunt. Luckily after dinner we moved to the lounge and enjoyed Doug Montgomery for 45 minutes. The sand dabs were a hit along with the sautéed calimary. Just putting foam under the dining chairs would improve things without destroying any of the "Santa Fe style"."

  • "We have no complaints, everything was superb! Thank you for everything. Sincerely, Lilo Cooper ps: one small wish however, we always enjoyed the beefsteak tomatoes sliced thick so the dressing could permeate the entire tomato…just a wish list however."

  • "Great service and the food was exceptional. We had the romaine salad, asparagus and sea bass."

  • "Great family run business with wonderful food. Portions are larger and sides a la carte so consider sharing."

  • "Waiter was attentive and gave us menus immediately along with the nights add on to the menu and encouraging sharing. The tomato and onion salas was outstanding as was the lettuce wedge. Hamburger, sweet potato fries, and sea bass were all winners. Chicken and ribs were overlooked. Chicken pot pie was enormous with a flaky crust. Short ribs were were appetizing. We would have ordered the apple pie for dessert but we were all full. We will return."

  • "We had to shout across the round table to hear each other. And we're not seniors who may be hard of hearing ! Meat Entrees are just that... meat. All sides are $10 each, and not big. Would not recommend the dining room, too noisy and overpriced. I would however, recommend the Piano Bar."

  • "This is our favorite restaurant in the desert...one menu card, but everything you would want and everything is great! Great area for jazz, piano, and entertainment. Top Notch! We take our guests there often."

  • "We made a reservation for Vicky's and were greeted at the door just fine..no wait and were seated promptly. Our service started well with drinks, bread and appetizers provided promptly. After appetizers were served, it was 30 min before dinner arrived. No offer of another round of drinks between appetizers and dinner. finally when dinner was served, it was cold. My wife ate her cold scallops but I rejected the cold meatloaf and mashed potatoes. I did not bother getting a replacement dinner but asked for another drink which came 20 minutes later which I left partially consumed on the table. The server graciously took my entre off the check but no offer of free drink or anything else. She acted as if she was doing us a favor. Really? C'mon."

  • "My husband and I tried this place because the reviews spoke about such great music.... They were great! But the food was too. I had the grilled pork chop and my husband had the ribs and chicken. There was enough for us to have three dinners! And the prices were reasonable. Our server was very nice."

  • "Part of what we look forward to in returning each year to the Indian Wells BNP Parbis tournament is having dinner and enjoying an evening at Vicky's of Santa Fe's piano bar. We thought the food was memorable once again and John Stanley King and his band a perfect close to a perfect week! Thank you"

  • "The food is large portion enough for sharing . The decor is very pretty but the crowd is way older. They have a piano bar but is all oldies music , We took my parents there they are in their 70s and they loved it!!"

  • "The food was very good - prepared to perfection, especially the shrimp I ordered. I LOVED the piano room where Doug, who is a virtuoso at the piano, plays. Doug is a definitely PLUS to your establishment. I would not have come if I had not heard about Doug!! He's a keeper."

  • "Wish we had more "supper clubs" with a wonderful pianist like Doug Montgomery! Was the piano a Bosendorfer? It reslly sounded swell."

  • "The above is always true and in every category. Friendly & timely service. Excellent food with a simple but tasty menu of options. Unique specials like Trout. Wonderfully generous martini's. Cant go wrong with this place and you can tell by the consistent crowds."

  • "Nice to find a local restaurant that serves fine food at a somewhat affordable price... Main room can get a little noisy so ask for the back area...won't be disappointed!"

  • "We came to dinner to celebrate my wife's birthday and welcome Doug Montgomery back to the desert. This is the 3rd year in a row we drove from Santa Fe, NM to visit Vicky's of Santa Fe to enjoy a few evenings of dinner and music.. We also came to see Randy and Marilyn's show on Tuesday afternoon. We definitely recommend this restaurant and the music venue."

  • "We LOVED Vicky's! I have never been here before, but went on a friend's recommendation, party because they had entertainment. The waitress was very friendly & our service was great. The whitefish was also outstanding, as was the romaine salad, (the balsamic is mad in house). After dinner, we went to the bar to listen to the music. There are two fireplaces and the atmosphere is incredible. We will definitely return!"

  • "Went there at the recommendation of a PB resident. The artichoke, chicken pot pie, blt salad and stuffed potato were awesome. I liked the varied menu that provides nice options to a traditional entree. Lots of energy here. Not the place for large groups or intimate dining. Will go back for the music and bar menu."

  • "We went mostly for the jazz, but enjoyed the food, too. The jazz is in a wonderful separate lounge; reservations are not accepted for the lounge, but we had no trouble getting a table before 7pm. The music was great! The female vocalist (Ms. Martinez) was very good. The accompanying trio was outstanding. Special guests joined Ms Martinez; the jazz harmonica player was amazing! The food was really good, just a notch beneath 5 stars. The menu is not extensive, but you'll find something you'll like. My NY Sirloin was very good & cooked as requested (medium rare). The twice-baked potato was good - and huge. My wife's skewered shrimp & chicken was excellent. The wedge & the pear/gorgonzola salads were delicious. Go & enjoy jazz in the Desert!"

  • "having moved from the area ten years ago, we hadn't had dinner at Vicky's since; This was just as we remembered it if not better."

  • "The best restaurants of Santa Fe, NM are renowned for their cuisine, so a restaurant that puts Santa Fe in its name is just asking to be compared with places like The Anasazi Restaurant or Santacafe. Vicki's is nothing like these at all. It is a rather brightly lit establishment with multiple dining rooms and the atmosphere of a chain restaurant. Service is perfectly friendly and gracious, but the menu isn't especially imaginative and has nothing to do so far as I could tell with Santa Fe or New Mexican cuisine. Macadamia encrusted seabass was fine but sides of creamed spinach and sauteed mushrooms were disappointing. Only recommended if you're stuck in Indian Wells for a conference (or in life)."

  • "For the price and given the availability of other restaurants in the area, I don't know that I'd go back here. We took my mom for her birthday because she heard it was an "in" place to go. Prices were reasonable and there is a good menu selection, and it's possible we just hit them on an off night. Service was just "okay", but not great. The food was mediocre at best. I had the special, lamb shank, which was greasy, much more of a "gamey" taste than it should have and had an odd texture. Spinach tasted like someone had spilled dishwater. My wife had the blue cheese burger, which had very little taste or evidence of blue cheese and her mac 'n cheese, while having descent flavor was very dry."

  • "Well when i made the reservation on- line it appeared to be a great selection for a romantic V day. Could not have been furthest from that. Could not hear the jazz music. There were famiies with Screaming babies, very loud dinning room!!!Just overall not what I was expecting. Food was MEDIOCRE. Pork was dry & my twice baked potato was overcooked."

  • "A great server who pays attention is the start to a wonderful meal that I look forward to when I return to the desert. Only in this area can one get liver and onions and Vicky's does it so well. For those who like a lounge with entertainment, it is a wonderful place to have a drink and be soothed and comforted by the music."

  • "Restaurant is nice, service is good and food was to expectations. It was an anniversary dinner for my husband and I. We are in our late 30's and the crowd was in there 70's. Would not recommend to couples in our age but would recommend to our parents. I would even consider bring them here for there anniversary."

  • "We love the place.. easy valet parking [free] food great esp the shrimp.. The food in huge portions easy to split and share. The waitress was very attentive and the table /water/ was kept clean and fresh by the busboy.. we will be back. Single negative almost not worth noting. I have hearing impairment and the noise level made it hard to hear at our main room table. If you have such a problem. tell them. there are quiet areas. and they do have happy hour deals.."

  • "As a Foodie, we eat dinner 6-times a week at various establishments in the Valley. First time after a recommendation from a client., we decided to give them a try. Quite a disappointment. Ordered the $38 filet medium rare and had to return it as it was over cooked and burnt. The replacement was cooked medium rare but still had the burnt crust. I assume they use a flat iron grill or skillet. I personally do not like the burnt flavor. Wife had the chicken but it was boring. Nothing special."

  • "One of our best ever dining experiences. Everything we ordered was delicious. New York steak, grilled pork chop (the apples were to die for!), salad wedge with thousand island dressing and bacon (incredible - wanted more!), baked potato, bread, chocolate cake (YUM!). Our waitress was extremely attentive and amazing with a great personality. We also loved the entertainment and dancing last year before you closed for the summer. We will surely return soon. Thank you!!"
