Diner Reviews
  • "We liked everything about Vickers, it was our first visit but certainly not our last, delightful piano background music at just the right sound level....the waiter, bartender and maitre'de all were friendly and gracious to us."

  • "At a friends suggestion, we went to dinner at Vickers - what a great place! I cannot believe that I've never been here before despite all the dining I do in/near the Exton area. It is off the beaten track, and maybe that's why... it is a hidden gem! I had the Steak Diane Flambe - what a treat having a tableside fire show! I will say that the portions are on the small side, but with an appetizer or salad before the entree, it makes for a good meal. The service was fantastic and the ambience is lovely - the bar area is intimate, and certainly a great place to sit with friends and enjoy the piano music."

  • "Great food and great atmosphere. One of the best in Chester County"

  • "My daughter and I enjoyed the dinner very much. It would have been wonderful but there was a party of 4 in the same room who were unpleasantly noisy. It spoiled what would've been a very nice dinner."
    Dined on 3/29/2014
  • "I always forget it's there, and every time I go I have to kick myself for overlooking this fabulous dining experience. If you haven't been - GO! If you are like me, put it on your radar and go AGAIN. Don't miss the panacotta- Italian revisited! Yum!"

  • "I've lived in Chester County for 10 years and had never heard of this place. Probably never would have had it not been for Open Table. Just an absolute delight. Well worth the high prices. The bison was extraordinary, and the service was warm and welcoming."
    Dined on 3/22/2014
  • "The good is fantastic , it had a clean look and feel, the bread was fresh but the decor is dark and dated. Let me be clear it wasnt dated in a dusty moldy kind of way - the restaurant is well taken care of but it just has a dated feel inside. It won't stop me from recommending the place or from going again I will just reserve it for special occasions with my parents or a more mature crowd."

  • "Wonderful dinner, personable, experienced wait-staff, fabulous building, Pricey but worth it."

  • "The ambience, perfect. Service was impeccable. And the food to die for. All four of us had completely different things and every dish was amazing."

  • "Great food, friendly service. Had the bison! Very tender. Very good."

  • "This was a return to our "favorite" restaurant of forty years ago. Fortunately the ver good ambience, food and service were still present. The character remains although nicely freshened. It was our pleasure to once again experience our still favorite dining experience in a cozy room with fireplace and professional staff. The food quality was very good with a board spectrum of dishes available. When visiting the area again we will return."

  • "Had a wonderful birthday dinner at Vickers. The food is always good but two standouts that night were the Crispy Lobster Tempura and the Steak Diane. It is a great place to celebrate a special occasion."

  • "I have been here for dinner many times with groups. The menu is always inviting and the food is always excellent. The portions are generous and the presentation is top notch. Drinks are also done well. The ambiance is reminiscent of a French Country Home, rustic and sedate. Noise level was quiet so our large group did not have to raise our voices. This is a restaurant that I will always return to in the area because it is always consistently great!"

  • "Vickers was a very high end, excellent dining experience. They had a very unique mix of different types of food, impeccable service, great atmosphere....very romantic. A great date night!! Would recommend to anyone looking for a nice night out in a higher-end segment."

  • "My husband had never been to Vickers before, and I was excited for him to try the food. There was a special Valentine's Day menu, and both of us very much enjoyed everything we had. The sole I had for my entree was the highlight for me although I very much enjoyed the spinach salad and apple streusel for dessert. The only downside was our waiter was not very friendly or attentive. We look forward to returning!"

  • "A very good experience overall. The ambience was great with overhead beams, fireplace, low lighting and plenty of space between tables. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and had wonderful flavor, the berry cup was a wonderful dessert that you wont find at other restaurants. The only thing that I would change is the presentation of the main course. It lacked creativity, and looked like the potatoes and vegetables were just piled on the plate. A slightly smaller portion would also allow patrons to enjoy their appetizer and still finish their meal."

  • "It was my birthday and the first time my husband and I had dined at Vickers. It is a lovely classic Chester County inn with a wonderful ambience. We were seated at a candlelit table in the dining room with a warm fire in the large stone fireplace. The setting was further enhanced by live romantic piano jazz music. We were warmly greeted and our server was friendly and attentive. I had the rack of lamb which was done a little beyond the medium I'd requested, however it was tastefully prepared. My husband had the dover sole with crab meat and lobster sauce which he found to be delicious. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the place, the service and the food and highly recommend it, particularly for a special occasion."

  • "I went to Vickers 20-years ago, and abdolutely loved it. Have not had an opprotuntiy to go back and was very worried it would have been sooo changed over all these years. The food and service was still perfect, and it is so nice to have an elegant dining experience. Love it. Wish I could afford to go every night."

  • "Quality meal, quality service and still done the right way. With the proper blend of attention and privacy. Let's not forget the panache of table side service from the classic Caesar Salad, to the dover sole, to the bananas foster - this is a wonderful restaurant. The bride went with the lamb chops (ideally there would have been a minimum of four) but the three that were served we're succulent, cooked to order (medium) and served with a gracious side of vegetables and fingerling potatoes. I had the dover sole - which was presented, filleted and served table side. Unquestionably, one of the best I've ever had. We split an appetizer special (shrimp with risotto) and shared a couple of adult beverages. A wonderful experience."

  • "Went for anniversary and our dining experience was very nice. The atmosphere was beautiful, food was good and service outstanding. The menu was a little dated in options. I would have liked to see hipper choices. But it would not stop me from going back. Prices were in line with type of restaurant. Bar area seemed very nice as well."

  • "Went to vickers last year for New Year's Eve and it was really good we had good food and the sevice was good so we made plans to go again this year, well it was totally differant the service was very slow it took the waiter 45 minutes to take our drink order and to put rolls on the table. The waiter was not friendly at all the food was very expensive and not good. I won't be going back next year. I know it was a holiday and service is always slower because of it being busy but it took 3 hours before we got out of there."

  • "We always go to Vickers for our annual Christmas lunch. We had a fantastic waitress and you can't beat the ambience. However, we were disappointed in our entrees and the portion size was so small. It seemed like the quality wasn't as good as it usually is either so not great value for our $$."

  • "took my wife for her birthday as it had been 20 years since I had been to Vickers however the reviews had been ok. It snowed thus the place was quiet for a Saturday however we had great meal. Only true disappointment was the portion size. Price vs size was way out of line when compared to the general Warren or Dueling Kurtz. Understand Vickers is trying to push a European flair however pricy when one get four slices of duck, some broccoli and rice for $34. The stuff Dover Soul was even more of an insult as it came with more broccoli than fish. GREAT FOOD however not enough. We will go back however we are going to sit at the bar and order off the bar menu."

  • "My wife and I have eaten at Vickers 3 or 4 times in the past year. Each time we have a very pleasant experience. Great service from experienced people, very good food from the appetizers through dessert, and a good wine selection (although limited). We recommend you try Vickers and find out for yourself. We have not sat in the bar area, however each time we dine there, it seems to be a lively option."

  • "Despite living in the Delaware Valley for 30 years,we had never been to Vickers. This past Saturday was our first, but will certainly not be our last, visit. Housed in a beautiful old inn type setting, the several small rooms are very pleasant, with no cramping of tables , and most importantly, quiet. The service was pleasant and efficient. Great drinks from the bar (Manhattan, cosmos, Pimms) and good, fairly priced wine selections. Caesar salad (for 2, prepared table side) was outstanding as billed. Excellent rack of lamb, among the House specialties. Lobster bisque also super. Overall, top quality country style, continental dining. We shall return - soon."

  • "This has always been a lovely restaurant and believe on this visit for lunch it has gotten better. Server was there when needed and able to answer all our questions. Each one of the diners had something different: diner who had the salmon said "why go elsewhere when you can have a lunch as good as this?" The shrimp tempura with a sweet/sour sauce was delicious. Large shrimp prepared in a crisp, light batter. While the other diner who habitually is looking for an ideal crab cake rates these as A+. Sure, it's a little more costly, but you're not ordering burgers and fries. All three of us will definitely return and would recommend Vickers Tavern."

  • "The food was phenomenal. There were three of us, each with different entrees, and we were all very pleased. Based on the reviews, I had higher expectations for the service. Service was still reasonable, but certainly not up to what I was expecting. It was dumb stuff like not taking orders in the sequence in which people were seated and not identifying specials in advance of asking for orders. Maybe it was just a bad night. The wine list had some reasonably priced selections. Most were extremely expensive, and not accessible. It was a very fine meal and I will certainly go there again. The price was a little higher than many places, so I won't be going every month, but certainly on special occasions."

  • "Vickers was everything one would expect in a restaurant. Food was prepared very well, service was exceptional, surroundings quiet and personal. We had quite a variety of food: Duck breast was tender& tasty, Scallops/ shrimp dish was delicious, tender & juicy, stuffed pork chop was also very tender and uniquely prepared. All enjoyed the Caesar salad done at tableside, strong on garlic but delicious. I would strongly recommend a enjoyable dinner at Vickers knowing it will be pricey."

  • "We sat near the fire on a cold October evening and it was a very comfortable scene. When we walked in there was no one there to greet us. Table side service was friendly and swift. The wine by the glass has a short but adequate list to choose from. The lobster bisque is good but not great. The filet mignon with Bernaise sauce came out closer to rare than medium. The sauce was ice cold and that made the whole dish cold. The bison steak was very good but that was my first time trying it. I like that the plates were small but the sides were uninspired. It's not a bad place for a nice evening out but in comparison to the Kimberton Inn down the street it is not a good value for what you get."
