A word from ViceVersa
If there are any two young people who have had the experience it takes to open their own restaurant, these two are it - - and their coming together reads like a story. Franco Lazzari and Stefano Terzi originally met each in the early 90’s while working in New York. At ViceVersa, Franco and Stefano, unveiled their vision for a contemporary Italian restaurant, combining the traditions of their own cultural background with the youth and energy of their years, and the sophistication and experience of their time in major New York City restaurants.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Very distinct, tasty pastas and appetizers. Very comfortable seating. Friendly service."

  • "Unexpected ambiance, quite spacious with no crowding, lovely prix pixe menu. Service was excellent with good timing as this was a pre theater dinner. Definitely would recommend."

  • "The waiter did not explain the menu, make recommendation's, didn't greet us and barely spoke to us. We had to wait for nearly an hour before our food and the waiter never checked back with us. My husband had a tasty bolognaise pasta dish and the salmon on the fixed menu was good, but the sides were sub par. The apple cake was stale. I was very disappointed in the service."

  • "The food was fantastic and the staff couldn't be more accommodating. We were horribly late because of traffic and needed to get in and out to get to the theatre and the staff was great. Franco was calm, relaxed and so accommodating. It was another wonderful experience in every way!"

  • "It's great food, attentive host, strong service, and relaxing, flattering ambiance. Even pre-theater (they'll be sure to get you out on time) it's not too noisy--just the right amount of buzz and excitement without a deafening din."

  • "one of many trips to Vice Versa! always friendly, unobtrusive, but efficient(not snobby) staff. Great cucumber martinis and bitter orange cosmos! fabulous food with prices that don't empty your bank account! my favorite for pre theater!"

  • "Vice Versa is always a great place for a romantic or business dinner. The food is innovative and always flawless. It's not pretentious and everyone feels welcomed."

  • "I would certainly recommend this to anyone interested in great Italian food. It will most likely not satisfy a teenager because the portions are small and everything is ala carte. The service was terrific and you water glass was never empty."

  • "Menu choices different than on-line. Only one of the 6 of us had an outstanding plate. The rest were ok."

  • "Very professional staff and delicious food. The service was excellent. I recommend the pasta with duck and rock Cornish Hen. Staff was attentive to our requests. Everything from the bread basket with olive bread and the little cookies for dessert enhanced our dining experience."

  • "Perfect for dinner before a show. Great service and even better food!"

  • "When I find myself in NY I know it will include a visit to Vice Versa. Starting with the ginger/pear martini (yum), the herbed bread, salmon cooked to perfection and apple cake. Our servers were constantly keeping our table cleaned and well stocked. The servers also ask upon greeting you if you have tickets to see a show. I have never had a meal that is less than stellar with service to match."

  • "Perfect for pre-theater. Service was attentive and food was delicious. Not overly crowded and we didn't feel rushed so we could enjoy our meal."

  • "We visited Vice Versa during Restaurant Week in NYC. We had a great time. The Blood Orange Cosmo is let's say a bit STRONG though!! I ordered two and probably should have stuck to just one. :/ We had a good time here. I'd definitely recommend visiting, but if you are looking for absolutely amazing food you go home talking about--not sure that they have that though."

  • "This is our 3rd time coming to celebrate my folks' anniversary. Fantastic food, lovely service, and a personal greeting as we left. I always recommend this restaurant to my friends and I can tell you the table was happy!"

  • "Ate again at this very good Italian Restaurent that had become a dining staple in Manhattan."
    Dined on 3/1/2014
  • "We chose our dinners from the fixed price selections. The pork loin and salmon meals were OK. I have been to Vice Versa many times and this time was not one of their better efforts. The menu tends to be limited with more emphasis on pasta dishes. Maybe our next anniversary celebration will be better."

  • "We felt velcome, friendly and correct service. The fod was good, not outstanding but good."

  • "Has to be one of the best values around in NYC. Two superb courses for $24.00. My guest enjoed the Hearts of Palm Salad and swordfish and I loved my Eggpland Canneloni and Chicken Milanese. Vice Versa is also a great pre-theatre spot. Very attentive service too and at lunchtime - very peaceful."

  • "Reliably delicious as ever. It's always a bit pricey, but for what you're getting I think it's worth it."

  • "Real Italian food in an elegant but relaxed atmosphere. Owner makes every guest feel special."

  • "I have eaten at Vice Versa for 10 years and have always had outsanding meals. The meals that my wife and I had on Saturday evening were fair at best. Our course were bland and some were very oily/greasy. I'm hoping this was a one time glitch."

  • "Great food...elegant service. And a cool vibe. You definitely feel like youre in a NYC restaurant when you there!"
    Dined on 1/29/2014
  • "We went for dinner before the theater. The service is very good and they are prompt with the food, but the food itself left much to be desired. It wasn't bad, just unremarkable. I would try another place before returning there."

  • "Viceversa was the perfect spot for brunch near the theater district. The decor is lovely, the quiet setting allowed for intimate conversation, and wait service was polite/attentive without being overbearing. There were multiple, interesting brunch options for those of us who do not eat meat or shellfish. The flavors were unique and delicious. The bread basket held savory onion focaccia and raisin scones which were good enough to double as dessert. Even the (frequently-replenished) coffee was smooth, non-acidic, and served hot. In a city where there are so many excellent brunch spots, this one stood out!"

  • "This restaurant is well situated close to Broadway theatres, etc. and I wouldn't hesitate to eat there again if looking for somewhere to grab a bite before a show. The food was typical italian fare. Good, but not outstanding. The service was very good."

  • "My wife and I had dinner before seeing a show on Broadway. Dinner was great, and the Duck Ragout, was a real standout. My wife loved it so much, she wanted to get an order to go! We'll definitely make a return trip next time in NYC."

  • "...and a perfect place for a romantic dinner to group."
    Dined on 10/26/2013
  • "This has become our favorite brunch/lunch spot in Manhattan. Though an unassuming-looking step-down from the street, inside it is beautifully decorated and filled with light from an interior courtyard. The service is perfect: gracious but non-intrusive attention from beautiful young men. The menu is creative and the food uniformly delicious for seven different diners on two occasions. Sunday brunch features $15 two-hour unlimited mimosas/bellinis/bloody marys. It seems to be a brunch favorite for ladies but all should find it a charming dining experience."

  • "See had a wonderful lunch. Food great and the service was thoughtful, warm and gentile."

  • "Very lovely restaurant. Wait staff was very attentive and kept bringing great Bloody Marys. Food was very good and interesting and not overpriced."

  • "Always have a great experience at ViceVersa but had not been for Sunday Brunch. We were not disappointed as things were excellent as usual!"
    Dined on 12/29/2013
  • "Food was inventive. Service was good. They just missed a couple of times. Pasta with crabmeat was overwhelmed with capers. Bruschetta with truffle oil and white cheese just missed. Porchetta was not very good. I give credit for trying though, as experimentation will miss sometimes. A real foodie may love the creativity. Also, portions were small. Dishes generally overpriced compared to other area restaurants."
    Dined on 12/29/2013
  • "The ambiance was beautiful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was nothing outstanding. The restaurant is conveniently located near the Theater District for a meal before or after a show. I'm not upset I tried it, but it's not a restaurant I would go to again due to the lackluster food."
