A word from ViceVersa
If there are any two young people who have had the experience it takes to open their own restaurant, these two are it - - and their coming together reads like a story. Franco Lazzari and Stefano Terzi originally met each in the early 90’s while working in New York. At ViceVersa, Franco and Stefano, unveiled their vision for a contemporary Italian restaurant, combining the traditions of their own cultural background with the youth and energy of their years, and the sophistication and experience of their time in major New York City restaurants.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "If I lived close-by I'd eat here every night-Everything about this place is constantly perfect, and it's young and cool and hip and elegant all at the same time. It never disappoints."

  • "the arancini were great as were the scallops but the escarole was stringy with too much garlic and oil...for $28 sides with the scallops should also include a carb ...either potatoes or pasta"

  • "WE had a great pre-theater dinner at Vice Versa. Pastas were very inventive--and delicious--and salads were fresh, with interesting combinations and nicely plated. Great service. We didn't feel rushed, but they got us out in plenty of time for the theater."

  • "We ate lunch in their outdoor garden, shaded by big umbrellas, and although there was some noise from an air conditioner, the ambience was calm and beautiful, and the food was so much better than I expected. Wonderful hearts of palm salad, delicious juicy swordfish. A great place for lunch. The inside room is very attractive, too. We're going to go back."

  • "We had a wonderful dinner before a play on Broadway . The wait staff was very friendly and professional . When we were seated they asked if we were seeing a play and timed our dinner perfectly. The food was fabulous too! A real find!!"

  • "We met out-of-town friends for Sunday brunch, sure that the unlimited brunch drink option would encourage the flow of conversation, and it did. A very festive reunion. Each of our meals (varied choices) was delicious, as was the basket of fresh herbed focaccia. The waitstaff was charming and accommodating, but were overwhelmed during the peak brunch hours; we had the impression that the kitchen couldn't keep up, either. Long waits; food tasted good but was cold when it finally arrived. We all enjoyed our meal, and the space is beautiful; nice music tastefully kept low enough to permit conversation; the staff, again, lovely. Still, I felt it necessary to subtract one star each from food and service for cold entrees and extensive delays."

  • "Dinner in this modern spot fills all needs.....great cocktails, food variety and quality excellent, and atmosphere upscale. Portions perfect size and food was excellent. Server knew were theater bound and made sure courses were timed just right. Would go back for their prix fix or al a carte menu."

  • "ViceVersa is a gem in Hell's Kitchen. At $24, the prix-fixe lunch is fabulous because it is delicious and a hefty amount of food. You don't leave hungry! They even give you a couple small cookies at bill time. A great pre-theater spot!"

  • "We went to ViceVersa before seeing A Raisin in the Sun and it was the perfect place to dine. It was a very hot and humid day outside and upon arriving, ALL of the staff went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and seated quickly. We were late arriving because we could not find an available cab from Penn Station and that was not an issue either, they were totally understanding. The food was really good and each course was thoughtfully prepared (I had the mussels, bruchetta and the Lasagne) and the waiters made sure we finished in time to make it to our show! Excellent choice for befor theatre dining! Would definately go again."

  • "Unfortunately we, and the diners at a table beside us were forced to "shush"a very animated group of 4, as we could barely hear ourselves talking. Fortunately the main "perpetrator" recognized our request without negative reaction. It is understandable that restaurant staff do not want to upset patrons, but it would be nice if there was some way to alert anyone causing disturbance that it is not fair to others."

  • "Every course was near perfection. We started with the appetizers - fried stuffed olives and the Cod fritters How do they get so much stuffing into those olives? Really flavorful. Shared the salad and the divided portion for two was perfect. It was hard to stop eating the basket of focaccia slices as they were so delicious. We each had a pasta course. The duck ragout was divine and loaded with tender, flavorful pieces of duck. We were going to skip dessert, but when we saw the profiteroles with the coffee ice cream, we went for it and glad we did. The service was excellent and the waiter did a great job with descriptions of the food and the portion sizes. Beautiful dining room with clever use of outdoor courtyard space. Will be back soon."

  • "The choice of small or large pasta servings means being able to sample multiple of the delicious pastas on the menu, and I can't recommend them highly enough! The staff was friendly and helpful with recommendations and suggestions. It was a delight to dine there and I will definitely be back! A new favorite."

  • "We loved the "Italian ambiance" as well as the delicious food. They were very accommodating and we had plenty of time to leisurely walk to our Broadway Show. I'm sure it would be just as good and elegant for a fuller evening dining experience. "

  • "My friend (who lives in DC and since I intrduced him to Vice Versa - it's his favourite NYC restaurant) marvels at the value of the lunch menu. Both or our meals were terrific again. This restaurant has some of the best past in the city and of course, it's ideal for theatre."

  • "Lovely decor, quiet, with excellent service, The $24.95 prix fixe lunch was delicious, with unusual combinations elegantly plated. Very convenient for the theatre and we would go back an time."

  • "I like going to ViceVersa for lunch because it is a place where one can actually have a conversation over a meal. This time the food wasn't quite as good as I remembered it, but this may have been due to my particular choices. The speck in the Inslata Romana was tough, and the salmon, though I had ordered it rare, was rather well done. Lovely ambiance, and once the weather warms up and the garden seating opens, it will be a real treat to lunch outside."

  • "Went with 8 hungry people before a show, sat at a round table and we could actually hear each other! The food was delicious, especially the pasta and everyone said they would return. Gracious and accomodating service. "

  • "Lovely spot for pre theater lunch. Fixed priced menu offers wonderful selection. Delicious food, good service, lovely setting."

  • "In addition to outstanding food, the staff was wonderful. A gentleman at the next table was getting drunk on martinis and was loud and obnoxious. It was clear to see and we appreciated that the staff kept a close watch on him so that he wouldn't become too disruptive. The staff was also attentive to us. "

  • "We love dining at ViceVersa. A great find in the theater district. Lovely garden area. The weather was perfect for outdoor dining. The food was delicious and portion sizes perfect, especially if you are going to the theater and do not want to feel as if you ate an "elephant". We all enjoyed our meals and will definitely go back again and again. "

  • "We came here for brunch several weeks ago and it was the most amazing experience, and then for dinner Mother's Day and it was equally as wonderful. I have recommended this now to friends from out of town and this is absolutely our new favorite place to come, especially when going to the theatre. the entire experience, the welcoming and efficient and friendly staff and the innovative and delicious food makes this a wonderful experience."

  • "VICE VERSA is outstanding: welcoming host and professional staff; inventive menu with great fish and pasta dishes; convenient to all mid-town theatres. All fish dishes are outstanding. For pasta: try Strozzapreti--really amazing. The only negative is the noise level--but then: that's Manhattan; and a sign of the enjoyment of people dining at Vice Versa."

  • "I took relatives from out of town before they headed to the theatre. Food, service and ambience were perfect. Staff are attentive but not invasive. Décor is fresh and bright. Will be back often."

  • "We've eaten at Vice Versa several times over the years and it never fails to impress. The food is superb and the service professional and friendly. If I had one criticism it is the menu seems to lack daily specials, but that is a small one as the regular menu is varied and everything we've tried is quite delicious. A bit pricey for us, so it is a special occasion place."

  • "I've dined here several times. Food is always delicious with attentive service and warm ambience. Pasta with duck ragout is a standout. Wine list has a good range of selections and price points, with emphasis on Italian. Worth a trip even if you're not going to the theater!"

  • "Hadn't been to this restaurant before and needed to find a good brunch spot near the theatre district. It was perfect and probably the best brunch in the City. The whipped egg white omelet with truffles and parmigiano souffle was extraordinary! One of the most dramatic looking items to appear on a plate, and also one of the most delicious. The staff was so attentive and pleasant. Lovely setting. And we could hear our friends during brunch, not having to compete with loud music. Looking forward to returning for dinner. "

  • "I used to love this place. I went back after a few years' absence and was very disappointed. The lobster in my salad had no taste. The strozzapreti seemed mushy and too salty from the many olives in the sauce. The suckling pig seemed left over!"
