Viand Bar and KitchenAs always, a good experienceMy hub and I took my parents there for their birthdays. I had flowers delivered to the restaurant ahead of time, and the note I left on the reservation about me being a vegan was not ignored.
In fact, the waitress and chef made me a special veggie stir fry and even informed me that if I wanted fries, I should be aware that they are cooked in the same oils that meat is fried in. A lot of restaurants won't tell you that, so the veg-head consumer is left to hope that their food was not in contact with animal flesh.
I was grateful for the whipped up dish, tho it was very salty and there was way too much rice, but that's ok. I was glad they could accomodate me, and my family was very pleased with their meals and b-day dessert.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Neighborhood GemI've been coming to Viand for a few years now and it never disappoints. It's one of the rare finds in a city with vast choices for good dining. Although it's located in the middle of the highly touristy Michigan Ave, it is not one very well known by tourists so there are no lines. Wonderful food and excellent service! There was live music, not too loud which was nice. Our server was very good - really nice and attentive. It's a very nice atmosphere and the restaurant looks really nice.
