Diner Reviews
  • "I had the Penne pasta with meat sauce and a veal meatball. My wife had the Ginnoche with shrimp. The pasta was about as good as you could get at any mid level Italian restaurant in Cincinnati. My wife found 3 shrimp in her entire entree. The appetizer was good, as was the dessert. I would not go out of my way to eat there again and fortunately, given the size of the bill, we dined on gift cards from our children. Try Ferrari's Little Italy in Madeira for great Italian food, reasonable prices and outstanding choices."

  • "We were with a group of 6 and everyone loved the food. We enjoyed sitting at a round table so we could all talk and share food! The place was crowded and had a fun atmosphere. Fun night!"

  • "Christian and his staff worked hard to make sure that we had a great dining experience! I'm a frequent diner there. I took friends visiting from WV to Via Vite because I thought they would enjoy the restaurant's view on the Square. Not only did they love the view but were duly impressed by the beauty of the restaurant and took many pictures! The food was beautifully presented and delicious. At my request Chef Christian prepared my favorite salmon dish that was not on the summer menu. That's truly great customer service! The next day, My friends raved about the restaurant to their Dayton area relatives as we ate at Bob Evans the next morning."

  • "The food was amazing. Everything is locally sourced. The staff is very friendly and even though it was a busy Friday night the Chef/Owner made it a point to personally check on every table."

  • "Thank you for preparing Chicken Parm (not on the menu...) for my husband. He had a craving for it and said yours was exceptional!! We had a lovely evening together on our anniversary. Excellent service every time."

  • "I insisted on my girlfriends joining me here for a birthday celebration. This was their first time. We all had an exceptional experience. We tried 3 different wines, 3 appetizers, about 5 different entrees, and 5 desserts. They fell in love!"

  • "On a business trip and first time to Via Vite. Wasn't able to get a table on the roof that overlooks Fountain Square, but the horseshoe booth was a good choice as it made for an intimate group discussion. Both the food and service was outstanding. Would have been nice if happy hour was applicable to the dining room since we couldn't get a table on the roof or bar. Chef Cristian made a personal visit to the table, which made us feel special. Will definitely make reservations for future visits to the area."

  • "Working downtown, this is one of my two favorite places to eat. Always enjoy the food and service. Sometimes a little too close to my neighbors but otherwise, a great lunch experience."

  • "Opportunity to meet with childhood friend from Washington DC in town for a conference for the first time in 45 years! The setting, service, food and views were perfect for our sharing after all these years about our divergent paths. Our experience was enhanced by such a nice atmosphere allowing us to talk and be waited on."

  • "I first ate at Via Vite for brunch when I found it through Yelp. Brunch was amazing. So much so that we returned with friends for dinner, and we were not disappointed. I ordered the scallops, which were amazing. Everything from the appetizers to the dessert was a taste sensation. I can't wait to go back and try more of their food. One thing to note is that we were there on a Saturday night in July, and the Fountain Square entertainment was not to our liking at the outside seating (not the restaurants fault of course, but something to keep in mind during the summer when dining there)."

  • "Enjoyed a quick meal before our event. Food tasty, but portions rather large. Especially liked the grilled asparagus and beet side. Waiter attentive, but service from kitchen slow but likely due to Saturday night."

  • "My in laws were visiting and I wantes something down town so we could walk around and see some of Cincinnati. My in laws are very much foodies so when I saw Via Vite and all the great reviews I figured to give it a shot. I was not disappointed! The food was amazing. I had crispy gnocchi which I will be going back to have again as soon as i can! Also we had the bruchetta of the day and unbelievable desserts. I reccomend sharing the chocolate creme brule or the caramel tower. Everything came out perfectly cooked and the chef even came out himself to make sure the food was to our liking. I highly recommend via vita."

  • "Via Vite is not your run-of-the-mill Italian restaurant. On a recent summer evening we sat outside on Fountain Square. We dined on octopus, an appetizer with beets and goat cheese, and a nice half-bottle of Brunello wine- just the right amount for two. The best part was the chocolate creme brulee for dessert. Fantastico! I will be back!"

  • "Food was excellent, with clear, vibrant flavors, and demonstrating a willingness to take risks. Service competent and warm. The chef came out to check on us twice. They were very accommodating with a gluten-free menu. Despite all that, we would have to think hard about going back because the place is so noisy. We were having an early dinner on Thursday night - reservation at 5:00 - and already the the bar was loud and the music cranked up. There is very little separation of the dining room and the bar. So be aware that you are gong to have a very nice dinner and very little conversation!"

  • "You always know what to expect and Chef Christian has fantastic menu items. We come here often and we've never been disappointed. The host always tries to get my favorite booth! I don't know his name, but almost always there, tall, slender, and very nice ... Thank you!"

  • "From appetizers to after dinner drinks, the food was amazing! We love Italian food, and Via Vite hit the mark - one of the best we've been to locally! We had the bruschetta with yellow peppers, the honeymoon salad, the seafood/pasta mixed dish, and the pasta with lobster and squash."

  • "We sat upstairs outside and it was so great. We had a view of fountain square and they had concerts going on, it was great!! Food was soooo delicious. Will definitely go back. I made my reservation on opentable and i left special instructions to wish my friend a happy graduation. And I didnt think that they would get it. But the waitress suprised my friend and wished her a happy graduation and she was suprised! And at the end of the meal she brought us dessert on the house for the special occasion. The experience was delightful! :)"

  • "Via Vite was a very nice place to have a scenic patio dinner for two. The food was good and the service was fair but a little to pricey for the portions which I expected. With the other restaurants around the square I would drop the prices a bit considering the other places had more people occupying them during dinner time. It was romantic but I think going to Greaters for dessert and sitting at the square together made it that much more worth while. Our table at dinner was really wobbly and I was still hungry after we ate. I would go back and probably order the pizza next time lol. It was still a nice place."

  • "I dined here with three other people. We had their featured flatbread with smoked salmon and it was delicious. I had the gnocchi and others got different kinds of pizza. All of the food was so good! One group member's entree was taking a little longer than the rest so the waiter brought him a free side dish to snack on while he waited - very thoughtful. All in all, a wonderful experience!"

  • "They can't decided if this should be a noisy sports bar or a up scale restaurant.. The food was good but small portions. The noise level was unacceptable. Bar patrons were screaming for their team and making a conversation over dinner impossible. Tables are too close to each other and the staff kept bumping into the chairs."

  • "If you haven't tried it already, go now to Via Vite! We had a wonderful anniversary dinner and then had more drinks on the patio outside that overlooks the square. We have also been for their incredible happy hour. We highly recommend Via Vite! Delicious food, friendly staff and service, beautiful place to dine! Can't wait for an excuse to go back!"

  • "We dined at Via Vite for our friend's 21st birthday and everything was perfect! The staff, food, and environment were flawless!"

  • "We shared three appetizers - two were daily specials (crostini with goat cheese and artichokes and stuffed cherry peppers) and one regular menu item (whipped ricotta with lemon and anchovy). All three were absolutely delicious. I followed with the gnocchi which was fabulous. All with a lovely Rose wine. My share of the total spend including tip was about $50. I definitely will be going back on a regular basis."

  • "Great food and easy parking for a business luncheon."

  • "I had to change my reservation a couple of times, finally ending up with just 20 minutes to close - the person on the phone (Tim?) was incredibly understanding and friendly. When I made my reservation I noted that it was our anniversary - the staff brought out champagne, toasted us, and wished us a happy anniversary; what a nice touch! Our waitress was sweet and helpful, and seemed to anticipate our every need. We had the potato leek soup of the day, it was seriously the most amazing thing I've ever eaten, and the Los Vascos Sauvignon Blanc I had was phenomenal. We each had the lamb shank and scallops; the lamb fell off the bone and every chef should make note of how this place does scallops. The price is right for seriously good dining!"

  • "I wish I would have had great service... It would drive me to come back because the good was pretty tasty. Although the restaurant didn't seem busy... She sure did seem too busy for our table. 15-20 min for our first drinks that were all brought to the table separately... With long intervals in between. Food was good... But when we are paying a decent amount for the food... Most expect great service in return. When she dropped the bill, she didn't say "thank you.... Have a good night... Hope you enjoyed everything"- she actually said nothing at all! It was a special occasion for someone at the table and I was embarrassed to have recommended the place Bc of how we were treated. "

  • "There isn't much to knock on the restaurant. The food was good, service was good. Just nothing to make it stand out. Both mine and my spouse's dishes were yummy."

  • "This was our first visit to this restaurant. It is very centrally located in the heart of Cinn., Oh. downtown district. Parking can be a bit tricky as it is on a one-way street, so don't miss the parking garage that is directly underneath the restaurant. The food was very good; however my husband entrée, he said was a bit on the dry side. Our waiter did not offer any compensation which would have been nice; since this entrée was one of the most expensive. A special dessert was brought for my son (a newly graduated student) since this was a celebration dinner. Overall, service was good and the food well presented."
