Everything was excellent! We went
back two nights in a row. Homemade pasta is among best I have ever Had.....including Italy!"

People that work here are
pretentious. Beyond rude. Ridiculous prices - plenty of better Italian restaurants in LA to go to that don't have unpleasant staff and portions that don't leave you starving. When we were seated it took over 20 minutes for someone to even come up and give us menus and offer u water. They didn't even bother to bring us bread until after we finished our appetizer. When I was paying the bill the waiter was watching us like a hawk and when we got up he ran to the table to collect the check as if we were going to dine and ditch or something. We had 1 glass of wine each, an appetizer 2 pastas with tip $180. Go to Chaya Venice or Superba down the street both have better food and a better dining experience for less cost."

The food, ambiance, and service
are good, but not worth what I paid. The food prices are much too expensive, and you can find better dining experiences in the area for less."
Dined on 2/14/2014
The food was great. Busy night in
valentines day so service was a little slow. Prices were a little bit high even for someone like me from New York. But the place was packed. Great looking crowd."
Dined on 2/14/2014
A little too cramped, tables on
top of one another. A little pricy for what it is."

My husband and I celebrated our
41st anniversary here. The food was excellent and decor charming. The place is small and tables close together-not a problem on a Monday evening. The restaurant is lit mostly by candlelight. Very romantic but hard for aging eyes to read the menu. Be sure and ask for a light."
Dined on 1/27/2014
Tables are too small and spaced
too close together. Waiter's back end was in my date's face when he was waiting on the adjacent table. He was oblivious. Chairs are not comfortable. Restaurant is noisy and very dark. Wine and food is overpriced. Food is good not great. Waiter forgot to bring coffee. For the same money one can find far better food and ambiance: not recommended."

I had heard a lot of great things
about Via Veneto however it didn't quite live up to expectations. The food was good but the service was terrible. We were lucky enough to have an early booking but as 8pm rolled around we had people standing all over the small restaurant complaining they hadn't been seated. Our waiter was forgetting orders and serving as quickly as possible to try and get people out in order to get the next table in. I think when you're paying around $50-80 minimum per person for a 3 course meal there is no reason why you should deal with bad service. Working in hospitality myself the biggest service error was slapping the check in front of me midway through our desserts basically inviting us to leave."

Had not been here in a few years
and was looking for a good Italian restaurant. Can't believe I waited this long! I will be returning more often. The food is amazing, so many specials to choose from, great menu and attentive service."

From the outside one could be
forgiven to think that it is nothing special. However once you step in, it feels as though you have walked into a Renaissance painting on canvas. Mainly lit by candles, the cozy and warm atmosphere prepares you for the culinary delights that await. The wine list is superb and the wait staff will gladly help you make the right choice. Be warned though that the outstanding food and wine do come at a price. Most notable for me was their fresh seafood selection and the simply amazing Nutella panacotta for desert. Truly one of the very best Italians in LA."
Dined on 1/15/2014
Intimate Italian experience! Many
variations of different dishes. Our table was not ready so we were given complimentary prosecco while waiting. The ambience is great along with the staff. Will definitely go back a will recommend to locals. Was referred by concierge at the Viceroy."

Our first time to this restaurant.
Initially felt quite small since there is no real entry. But, the restaurant is beautiful and feels more "cozy" once you get seated (though you dont want to be next to the door). The restaurant is noisy, but we found it romantic and I never felt intruded upon by other diners. The food was wonderful - the panna cotta excellent; the wine very very good. Overall a wonderful evening for us."
Dined on 12/28/2013
We had a wonderful dinner. The
food was outstanding but expensive as was the wine. I would highly recommend the restaurant though."
Dined on 12/21/2013
We hadn't been to Via Veneto for a
while and are glad we went back. The food is outstanding -- a notch above our more local great Italian food in Brentwood. The ambiance is warm and cozy, with soft light, although the noise level was a bit high for our taste. Still, we could have a nice conversation at our table. We took some "first timers" with us and they are hooked. Via Veneto never ceases to impress and they treat you like family. A real gem."

One of the best restaurants in the
United States. And, I have been to the best ones, and this is at the top. There are 3 reasons I love this restaurant. 1. The food is amazingly good, authentic, and consistent. 2. The atmosphere is charming, warm, and classy. 2 The staff and service match the high standards of the food. Superb."

I am generally blown away with the
food, service and experience of Via Veneto. Last night, not so much. While the spinach and ricotta ravioli I ordered was very good, it wasn't excellent. Perhaps I have been spoiled by such exquisite ravioli from them in the past including the lobster and pumpkin ravioli. My friend ordered the veal ravioli and while it tasted good, again I wasn't as impressed as I have been in the past. The buffullo mozzerella caprese thing was a delicious appetizer."

Our dinner at Via Veneto was
suburb. The food was amazing, the service excellent. It was rather noisy which made even talking across a table somewhat difficult. When I return I will make sure to bring my own wine and pay the corkage fee as the wine prices were the one area in which I felt that there was some significant over-pricing. The wines seemed to be priced at 3-4 times retail which I thought was too much. Overwise, it is one of the best restaurants at which I have dined."
Dined on 11/1/2013
I have been to Via Veneto twice,
and each time I was blown away. It is by far the best italian food I've had in LA. All the servers are legitimately Italian. They helped us navigate the massive (mostly Italian) wine list. This is the prefect restaurant for a special occasion. It is PRICY, but well worth it to experience something special."
Dined on 11/3/2013
Very good food. Portions are small
so if you have a big appetite, you will spend some money."
Dined on 10/28/2013
Waiter hustled our party of 4 to
move to a "better" table -- better in terms of being constantly jostled & bumped, I guess -- and hustled even harder to sell food. Falsely stated that all mains we seemed to choose were "starter size", etc. Not worth writing more... We're local & Italian foodies, but certainly won't be returning."

We were visitors from New Zealand
who were recommended to dine at this Restaurant. We reserved a table at short notice and managed a night that was not busy.We enjoyed a beautiful meal and lovely wine and thought the ambiance was very sophisticated."

A wonderfully fantastic dining
experience.... The food & atmosphere transcends You to a romantic evening with amazing cuisine...."
Dined on 10/14/2013
Excellent food, acceptable but not
great service. 40 minutes past the reservation time for our table. I called in advance about their corkage policy and was told there is a $30 fee - to my mind, certainly within the realm of reasonable by LA standards. After finally being seated, I placed a bottle of white on the table and a bottle of red (very special not inexpensive wines). I asked the waiter to open and serve the white and to open the red so it could breathe. He said their policy is to only allow one bottle. I felt that in view of the fact that I had taken the time to call and inquire in advance about their policy and the 40 minute wait for our table, perhaps an exception should be made - the waiter didn't agree."

What can I say about Via Veneto
other than it is an overall excellent restaurant. The food is spectacular, the ambience very romantic, and the service quite good. While it is not the latest trend on the Westside, it certainly rivals some of the best restaurants in Los Angeles, Westside or otherwise. The fact it has been around for some time speaks to how good it really is. A must try."

Exceptional service upon arrival -
great attention to Serving our children promptly and with a smile. Our Meal was over the top with flavour! A definite gem!"
Dined on 9/2/2013
I had expected more. Should have
known when I sat down on a rickety worn chair. Wouldn't split a pasta dish so I could have as an appetizer. Wines are really marked up. Overpriced for what you get. Small table doesn't allow you room for wine and bread. Not spectacular for the price."
Dined on 9/2/2013
This restaurant has the most
authentic Italian food you'll find on Southern California. Lots of traditional dishes from the motherland that most Americans aren't even familiar with. It's an expensive restaurant, but truly worth every penny. The service is superb and the food undeniable. I will always come back here again and again."

i've NEVER had a poor experience
here. there aren't many places you can say that about nowadays..wine - went on a date w/ a wine snob who was impressed w/ the by the glass selections. food - i had salmon special w/ vegetables which was AMAZING. a hint of smoked flavor, perfectly cooked, i think it must've gone straight from the water to kitchen to my belly. date had shrimp risotto w/ asparagus which was light and perfectly cooked. and they did NOT skimp on the shrimps, it was like the sea in there. squid carpaccio & caprese to start. i miss the caprese w/ burrata though, this time it was just moz. MUST GET: their panna cotta w/berries. it really is the best i've ever had and i am a panna cotta nerd. it's quite romantic as well. go!"

The food is far and above any
Italian food in the LA area. There was a time when the staff was a little off-putting and not too friendly or accommodating. Somehow, things have changed. Nice wait staff , fantastic food. A bit pricey, but so worth it."

This place is outstanding. Every
time I go, I like it more! The food is always excellent. There are only a handful of restaurants that truly know how to create amazing gourmet food in LA. This is definitely one of them! Hello all you New Yorkers, you will not be disappointed here!"

When we arrived at our reservation
time it was clear there was absolutely no table ready for us anytime soon. They gave us glasses of prosecco and after about 30 minutes a plate of prosciutto but it was very awkward, there's no waiting area so we huddled close to a counter and kept getting bumped by waiters rushing by. The place is so packed in and loud it was like our waitress was miming when she told us the specials. The food was good but the service was very slow. By the time we finished eating it was close to 11:30 and we were tired, no dessert and coffee for us. Perhaps we were just there on an off night where for some reason they were overwhelmed but I don't feel the need to go back anytime soon."

Via veneto has been part of the
Main Street scene in SM for 12 years. It isn't famous, but attracts a savvy crowd. Why? Outstanding Italian cuisine, perhaps the best in West LA."
Dined on 6/26/2013
The food is great; we loved
everything we tried (and we tried a lot). It is expensive, but I think the food is high quality. My only complaint is that is quite loud...we had trouble hearing each other and we went to dinner relatively early on a Saturday (7pm)."

We celebrated a graduation,
birthday and father's day with a party of 9 here---everyone had a wonderful time with lots of laughter and awesome food."
Dined on 6/16/2013
Starting with the helpful,
customer service friendly staff, Via Veneto is a MUST for any foodie. The appetizer veal broth is outstanding. I find it very hard to veer away from the Penne Arrabbiata because it is literally done to perfection. The short rib ragout is a standout as well. For a person who doesn't generally care for dessert, pretty much every item on their dessert menu is a homerun. Tiramisu....unlike any other you've ever tried. It's a must. Panna Cotta (which I traditionally abhor) is PHENOMENAL. I didn't know that's how light panna cotta is supposed to taste. The Crema di Amaretto... Let me just say that my dining companion promptly commandeered my serving and we ordered an additional. :)"

Very intimate setting. Excellent
neighborhood restaurant. Lots of hellos and hugs between customers and wait staff. Loved the grilled seafood salad and paparedelle with quail ragu. Limited wine list by the glass but enjoyedmy meritage with the food. It was an unexpected find in Santa Monica and would highly recommend it."

It's been a number of years since
my last dining experience at Via Veneto and I'm glad that the food still holds up! This is the only restaurant that makes me think of my trip to Italy where the food tasted so fresh and naturally flavorful. It's also nice that the servers all have authentic accents, including the hostess who left me a reservation reminder....ah, Italy! I do wish they would see a way to get a larger footprint. The restaurant is super small and tight in space so the tables for two are teeny tiny. My boyfriend and I are pretty tall so it was a little cramped and whenever someone had to get in and out (servers or patrons), we had to move our seat in, etc. Also, be prepared for a lively and loud atmosphere (which I like)."

Absolutely one of THE best Italian
restaurants in town!!"
Dined on 4/11/2013
Table for 7, we went "family
style." The server had so much to say about the specials, that I wondered why they even have a menu. We started with cheese, olive, grape and date platters: delectable; red and white wines; then we had a tasting of homemade raviolis: pumpkin, lobster, asparagus. We all thought the pumpkin was the unexpected winner. For entrée, two of us had the grilled brazino. Others had pasta, lamb, steak--I cleaned my plate. The portions were also well measured (not skimpy) considering what we'd already eaten. For dessert, we couldn't decide on the gelato flavors so we ordered all 6, as well as the amaretto dessert, tiramisu and another. We all dug into them. Ambiance and service were superb. Pricey, yes! Go at least once."
