A word from Via Tribunali Capitol Hill
We opened our first pizzeria in 2004 in the burgeoning Capitol Hill neighborhood. For months before we opened curious onlookers poked their heads in the former auto body shop, and outlandish rumors spread. One person saw a team of masons reportedly flown in from Naples to build a gargantuan wood-fired oven, someone heard that the bricks also came from Naples rich with Vesuvian ash, a reporter ran a story about a taxi driver leading our owner down a dark Neaopolitan street to meet a talented Pizzaiolo who was then whisked to an airport….

As it turns out almost all of the tall tales are true – on opening night people lined up for the authentic Neaopolitan pizza and since then our ovens have only gotten busier. Via Tribunali has been called "more authentic than the pizzerias of Naples," and even though that is a flattering exaggeration it is fair to say that our pizzerias have grown out of an almost unnatural passion for the food & wine of Southern Italy.

  • "We went here to celebrate my son's birthday and had a nice time. Overall the food was flavorful and the portions were a good size. We ordered three different pizzas and a calzone to share. The pizzas were pretty light on the toppings and very similar in taste. With as many pizza's as they have on the menu, we really expected more diversity. The Vesuvio calzone was excellent and a nice change from the pizzas. Our service was very good, friendly and at the table often enough to answer questions without being bothersome. However, she did forget the calzone so we needed to remind her - it wasn't delivered until after the pizzas were nearly gone. Memo to wait-staff, if you aren't going to write it down, remember what was ordered."

  • "Second time here. Met friends and had a wonderful dinner, salads , and wine. Would recommend for authentic Italian, and tasty pizzas. Waitress was outstanding."

  • "This was our second time to the Capitol Hill location. We bought the deal through Travel Zoo and then bought a second one after we had such a great experience. Their veal meatballs are amazing. Burrata with the arugula salad incredible. All of their pizzas are delicious. Really great caesar salad our kids loved! They make a Nutella calzone for dessert which is amazing. Great service both times. The second time was Father's Day and Adam waited on us. So great- Italian wine list is great too and priced very reasonably. We are new fans and it will become one of our favorites!!"

  • "Brought a repeat guest and a friend that has never been to Via Tribulani before to experience the pizza for the first time. I talked much stuff about it being the only authentic Neapolitan pizza in Seattle, because I am a firm believer this type of pizza and pizza in general should never be soggy in the middle. If its soggy, the crust is off or the oven isn't hot enough- somethings wrong! So, when she took a bite and groaned in satisfaction, I felt vindicated. Via Tribulani never disappoints and I am proud to recommend it. There were a few tics in the service, because it was such a full house- reservations are really recommended."

  • "Totally overrated. A table of 2 is the size of a coffee table. I only ordered two dishes, a salad and a pizza because if I had ordered something else besides the pizza it wouldn't have fit the table! The Caesar salad was basically 4 uncut pieces of small lettuce leaves drenched in dressing. That was $8! As for the pizza itself, so many places have much better pizza It's completely overrated and it was $16! I got there just before the dinner rush hour. Granted groups of people came in after us, and they got their food before we did at times! And then I saw people waiting for there food for awhile! And it wasn't even 7 yet for the major dinner rush! I don't understand how this place even stays open and why people keep going back. "

  • "The service was great and so was the food. My boyfriend and I split one pizza and each started with a Caesar salad. We were super full by the time the meal was over! The waiter was great at recommending food based off what he liked and what we liked."

  • "I loved my meal last weekend at Via Tribunali in Capitol Hill - excellent service and really delicious pizza with great ingredients. The atmosphere was cozy yet buzzy, just right for Saturday night. I can't wait to go back next time I'm in Seattle!"

  • "I checked out this place after hearing a lot about their happy hour. True, it was a good value ($10 for a half carafe of wine) and inexpensive personal size pizza. My only disappointment was that they only offer 3 pretty basic options for the type of HH pizza you could order, and that the pizza was a bit soft and didn't have dynamic flavor. (Could use a bit of salt?) It was certainly good, but not outstanding. Service was great, nice quiet spot for a date night (easy to have great conversation, it wasn't crowded and the reservation was not necessary on a rainy Thurs at 5pm) but not a destination simply for flavor or amazing pizza."

  • "I went to Via Tribunali with a group of 8 for my birthday. A fabulous experience. Our server was wonderful, laid back, and extremely knowledgeable. Also, the restaurant was very accommodating for our large group. Of course the pizza was amazing, the best Italian style pizza I've had in Seattle."

  • "Via Tribunali rarely disappoints. We had a large group, and our server handled all of us with ease. We had a large private table in the back of the Capitol Hill space which was perfect for our group. Incredible pizza, wonderful appetizers, and extremely attentive service. Plus they have Lambrusco, which made my night."

  • "I have to say their happy hour pizza deal is a steal. I was out with the guys one night when we stumbled upon this gem. The only problem was that we could never pinpoint where it was that we went. About a year later we found it and I have been back a couple of times with my lady. The pizza is delicious, atmosphere romantic, and right near all the Capitol Hill hotspots. Ask the waiters about the history of Via Tribulani, its a fun story."

  • "We reserved the large table in the back for 17 people! The wait staff was great, very attentive. Would do that again for sure!"

  • "Such a fun dining experience. The food is always amazing and authentic (for two people we usually get 1 app/salad and 1-2 pizzas, they are thin but still filling).. The staff is wonderful too, very helpful and they provide great suggestions based on your preference/dietary needs. This is a staple place for me! The option to make reservations online is also a bonus."

  • "Via Tribunali is fantastic for a large group dinner. The pizza is perfect - try the Dante and D.O.C. Also, the tiramisu is amazing. It's a fun place to bring a great group of people together for a casual dinner."

  • "Always fantastic on all levels. I stick to the pizzas - which are amazing and creative. The panna cotta was extraordinarily good. My friends had the tiramisu, which they all enjoyed very much."

  • "It was my last time to impress my girlfriend before leaving her on business for the next 3 months, Via Tribunali was the perfect place to say "see you again shortly" over a fantastic meal. We were seated once we entered the establishment. We arrived 30 minutes prior to our booking. We arrived early as we were quite famished. This was not a problem for the staff. They seated us promptly and our server was with us as soon as he could be. Our water glasses were never empty. When our server was busy, the other staff would continually fill our glasses - even after we had finished desert and coffee. Food was fantastic and came out quickly. Would definitely go again when back in town!"

  • "Great pizza, probably the best you can have in Seattle downtown. I also recommend their prosciutto crudo, even better with mozzarella di bufala. The Nutella Calzone is always interesting! Good wine selection. Friendly servers, relaxed atmosphere, but a bit too noisy when crowded. Overall, one of my personal favorites for a late night happy hour (I love the mini-pizza)."

  • "Fast food is not such a bad thing. I think we got our Pizza and salad within 5 minutes of ordering. We stayed and talked for about 35 minutes after eating and no one kicked us out."

  • "My husband & I celebrated my birthday & our anniversary at Via Tribunali. The whole experience was fabulous, start to finish. The staff was fun, helpful, friendly & very professional. The food was absolutely beautiful, both to look at & to taste. The only problem was not enough room in our stomachs to try everything we wanted to. We'll be back again...and again...and again."

  • "I moved to Seattle from the East Coast a year and a half ago and this the first place I've found with good pizza. Fresh ingredients, Italian style, cooked perfectly. Filling, but feels light as far as pizza goes. Throw in the good service and a solid ambience, and I'll be back all summer in the open to the air front dining area."

  • "Yet again the folks at Via Tribunali delivered a first class evening for us. We were a small group and treated with their (semi) private dining room a the back of the restaurant... This dining space gave a perfect balance of privacy, yet still feeling part of the main restaurant where a live jazz band were playing. Adam the waiter, gave us great service all evening, answering any questions and giving us good recommendations on Pizzas to order! The food.... Probably the best Pizza you will have in Seattle... Pizza as it should be, almost as if you were eating in Italy! Ultra thin base, with the focus on real, fresh italian toppings... The house special is a must try.... Good selection of wine to go with your pizza too."

  • "And that purpose is to make you happy! We had a simple margherita pizza, the salami plate and house special salad. Divine. Simple food. Great fresh ingredients. The perfect place to get a casual yet lovely meal and not break the bank or your waistline. Delicious! Will be going back again and again."

  • "The salads were of poor quality for the price and they didn't seem fresh. The pizzas were under cooked and very chewy like a soft taco. The quality was below normal."

  • "Wife got there first and had a drink I arrived shortly after and was seated but no service for at least 10+ minutes and had to ask for server. Wasn't in any hurry so it was no big deal other than the wait."

  • "I've had better service there. One of our waiters was great and the other seemed to be new or completely out of it, not sure which. And the drinks were bad. I sent my first one back. Food was good though, as always."

  • "cramped, noisey, salty, and pizza under cooked. On the plus side, staff were very friendly, if not super attentive at least nice when they did come to checkin"

  • "The pizzas here are generally very good to excellent. The service was a bit spotty the night we were there. I do enjoy the look and vibrant feel of the restaurant and in the end, it is a great place for Neopolitan style pizza."

  • "I really like the pizza at Via Tribunali. We had a group of 5 and started with appetizers, the bruschetta was excellent, we had the tomato and ricotta, as well as the mushroom. Mozzarella with prosciutto was also good, and the house salad is delicious. The Via Tribunali special pizza was my least favorite (but still good), while the simple sausage with onion was everybody's favorite. It was my son's birthday, and they brought bhim the dessert pizza with nutella. A big hit with the teenagers. Good food, good service."
