  • "Love this place. I make it my plan to stop in when I'm home. Great people, great food, great service."

  • "Via Real been around for 28 years and still attracting a crowd, the food is great as is the service. The place fills up for both lunch and dinner so make sure you make a reservation early. Great Chilean Sea Bass filleted on premise. Can't wait to go again when I am in Las Colinas!"

  • "It's an upscale place with a bit of Mexican/southwest flair. Always a good meal!"

  • "I found the food unique with several choices that were not the typical tex-mex found in DFW. The salsa was fresh. The server was attentive, but a little difficult to understand. I only speak English. The white table clothes and setting was upscale - casual. Our adult beverages were superb! I will be back!"

  • "Great sea bass as always! Vea Real delivers great ambiance for conversation, perfect pecan-crusted Seanad, and lovely service. When I have out-of- town guests, I CI count on Via Real. When I need to entertain business clients, I count on Via Real."

  • "We were expecting this restaurant to have authentic Mexican food, but were truly disappointed."

  • "I really wanted to like this place but I find that the food was good but only just that. The service wonderful but I will not go out of my way to revisit."

  • "Imagine being greeted by a virtually empty restaurant parking lot fully cordoned off for patrons wanting valet parking, and being relegated to parking more than 1/2 block away in a nearby shopping center lot and walking that distance to the restaurant. Where I come from, that is called "nickel-and-diming". Bad first impression, to say the least. Seated quickly. Food somewhat mediocre and not at all value priced -- scallops were a seemingly misguided and confusing agglomeration of flavors and textures, and even the avocado appetizer was served unadorned. Can't figure out what all the fuss was about. At least I got a tepid thank you as I left, headed for my block-long trek to my awaiting chariot past the clearly bored valet attendant."

  • "I took my boyfriend here for a surprise birthday dinner... And the evening was made even more special by the great ambience, awesome food and not to forget the very good service offered by roquev... Thanks man for the awesome service provided...will surely recommend this place for special occasions."

  • "Our server described a sea bass recipe he said they've had for 30 years. The description alone hooked us! And it was fabulous!! Best sea bass I've ever had. One of the BEST fish dishes I've ever had."

  • "We are so happy to have this terrific restaurant in Las Colinas! We had a delicious grouper dinner with wonderful service and perfect, relaxing ambiance to unwind on a Friday night!"

  • "We came back to Via Real after being away for a very long time this evening. It as usual was spot on and was a delight. Diego was our waiter and he was so attentive, charming and friendly that I would come back just to have him serve us again. I had the Cancun entree - scallops and shrimp. Simply amazing. My husband had the fajitas and while they were great he was remiss he didn't order something more unique. Margaritas are strong and very good so overall one of the nicest meals we have had in a long time. We will be back"

  • "Plusses: food was fresh, server was attentive and there wasn't anything bad about the food prep or menu Minuses: bland food, server was overly smarmy and kept touching our backs (weird...) and oddly impersonal decor Absoutely nothing earthshakingly wrong with this place, but little to recommend it strongly. Good news for them is we were tourists so it's not like they lost potential regulars. Just disappointing to come to Texas for Tex-Mex and get bland food we could have eaten in New England."

  • "We've been to Via Real many times, always experiencing great food and service. This time something was off with the service. They were not responsive, disappeared for long periods, and almost seemed rude. Oddly, we were without water and iced tea for lengthy periods, then at the end of the meal when we were jus chatting, we were asked if we needed refills about five times. The restaurant was not crowded and seemed to be adequately staffed, so I'm not sure what the problem was. Otherwise the food was outstanding, as usual. And of course, we will be back."

  • "Had a great experience at Via Real. The food was excellent; served hot, and Manuel was one of the best waiters I've ever had serve. I highly recommend Via Real."

  • "I've been here twice now and both times were great. The sun brunch is awesome as is the regular menu."

  • "Not bad! Nice neighborhood gem tucked away in a shopping center corner. We could have done without the kid playing his video game at the table next to us on full volume and his Mother talking/yelling in Chinese the whole time also at full volume but those are certainly not the restaurant's fault. Service was excellent, ambience was nice. My beef fajitas were lackluster at best, (only ate 2 and not worthy of taking home) but my husband liked his Escalopas dish and our bottle of wine was good and reasonably priced. Menu is heavily seafood based, perfect for a seafood lover that likes exotic and unique creams and sauces. Overall was pleasant, but don't think I will be rushing back anytime soon."

  • "While pricey the food was well worth the cost. The Escalopas (sea scallops in mango-basil sauce) were cooked to perfection and the poached pear salad was a perfect compliment to help clense the palate. Service was excellent; Glasses always stayed full without you even knowing someone had come by to refill. I will definately return and highly recommend this restraunt."

  • "Very surprised with this restaurant. The food was great but the service is what stood out, it is outstanding. My waiter was very attentive and when I was deciding on a glass of wine he brought over the sommelier to talk to me about the various selections. I was surprised they had a sommelier on site, I guess they hired him from an outside company to come in and revamp the wine list. He was obviously very knowledgeable and pleasant. He even brought me a taste of a wine we were discussing. Wonderful experience!"

  • "Via Real was outstanding. The food was impeccable. My boyfriend got the filet which was the best we have had. Better than Morton's. My roasted shrimp with Sea Bass Enchiliadas were incredibly flavorful. The owner seated us, recommend her favorites and suggested different things to us. I love that she was there, it was a happy place and service was incredible! We will be back!"

  • "Some colleagues & I had to return to Via Reál after not anticipating restaurant being booked on a weeknight. Tables are full with area business folks, like other good restaurants in Las Collinas. The atmosphere, decor and service level at the host's stand give the impression that you will be spending a ton to dine here. We were surprised at the reasonable prices on the menu though. The selection was impressive & our team wine connoisseur commented on the great pairings of wines to go with the gourmet mexican meals (wonderful beef fajitas, fish & guacamole). Our server was friendly and competent, but wasn't quite as impressive as the rest of the delicious experience. I'm still sure we'll be returning soon, by reservation."

  • "I have been to Via Real several times - both for business and family meals. This was a business meal. Arrived a few minutes before reservation time and our table was ready. Not sure if restaurants like to be called "dependable", but that is one of the reasons for business meals at Via Real. Always good food, always good service - dependable. This trip deserves one negative and I have assigned it to service. We were not yet done with our tapas when our entrees were delivered. We felt rushed. Not enough to say something, but then I shouldn't have to say anything. The business meal was successful and the food was fantastic as always."

  • "My wife & I brought her mother, sister, and friend (who were all visiting from Pennsylvania), to the Sunday Brunch. The buffet was massive and every item we had was excellent. The service was superb. The quiet environment made it easy for full table conversations. They are all looking forward to dining here again on their next visit."

  • "We have eaten at Via Real over the past 20 years. The food is always good and the service is always excellent. They are not a traditional Tex Mex, they have a wide variety of seafood selections and they have great options for vegetarians too. Their chips and salsa are fresh, warm and the best in Dallas. During the week it is good to make a reservation because they have a lot of business diners. Even when it is crowded it doesn't get overly noisey and you still get individual attention that makes you feel like they personally want you to enjoy your dinning experience."

  • "This is our favorite restaurant, so much so that we travel from our new home in McKinney to dine there for special occasions...if only McKinney had it's own "Via Real"...but we can only hope! Service was off this visit, which is very unusual. Two or our four diners received the wrong dish. But a correction was made and when our dinner arrived it was wonderful as usual. The owner, Fran Mathers, dropped by and when we received our bill we had a credit applied for those wrong meals, even though we never asked for it. A note about Fran...she is a fantastic owner who does everything she can to make your dining experience memorable. I highly recommend Via Real."

  • "I took my wife here for Valentine's Day. We enjoyed our visit immensely! The service and atmosphere were ideal. I ordered off the menu, my wife had one of the specials offered that day. Both meals were excellent and there are so many other interesting choices, we will definitely be back!"

  • "Great experience. Little pricey but food quality lived up to it."

  • "Food is unique and excellent. Special tamale was good, but only resemblance to a tamale was the corn husk. One of the best hot sauces we have had - Carlos is a master sauce maker. As with past experience, this one of the more expensive in the Mexican food genre."

  • "Everything is always wonderful. Usually get the same thing- roasted shrimp enchiladas(sea bass inside) very light sauce. Also love buying my candles here. Root candles are the most fragrant and long lasting and they're impossible to find outside of the web. They always have 2-3 scents going at night so I can smell them in action ;)"

  • "My spouse and I have been coming to Via Real for six years now and have celebrated anniversaries, birthdays and out of town visitors there. For this visit, they sat us at a corner table, Manuel was our server and he treated us very well. We started with crab cakes which did not have much filler, then we shared the steak and Chilean Sea Bass, both cooked to perfection, and they served complimentary chocolate cake for dessert in celebration of our anniversary. We chatted with Fran, the owner though she did not know us personally. We shared a precious story of a previous visit and told her some info about a former staff member with whom she still hears from, that she didn't know. The point of this story is that they make you extended family."

  • "Via Real is our favorite restaurant in DFW. On this visit, we celebrated our daughter's 21st birthday. We come to Via Real for all special occasions because it never disappoints. The service and food are always five stars. Can't recommend it highly enough."

  • "We picked this restaurant for Valentine's Day and it was a great choice. They gave us the options of a special menu or the regular dinner menu, which I appreciated. Noise level drove my decision as well - I hate going somewhere and I can't hear the conversation. Via Real really does well - it was a full restaurant but the noise level was just perfect. The service was outstanding, food was good and the menu had many choices. Plus it was romantic and they accomodated my request of a table in the back in a quiet location. After dinner, our server presented me with a rose - a very nice touch. Also, the manager/owner came by to make sure we were taken care of. Highly recommend!!!"

  • "Great meal as usual at Via Real. My wife and I love this place - as it is an eclectic mix of Tex Mex and modern American food. We have the black bean Ravioli which is always our favorite. Also - great queso to start the meal."
