You could taste the brine from the New England sea in the fresh clams. The service and atmosphere are top notch! I met a couple in the bar that were going to moon dogs for seafood. UGH! I could not believe...the best food in the area is right here in the Ritz Carlton. Catherine, our waitress, attended our every whim as she served us the chef''s highly advertised, most amazing grilled scallop dish ever, or the duck confit ragout over pasta or the broiled organic chicken. All excellent. We shared Buffalo(sic) mozzarella and heirloom tomato salad, some ordinary beet salad and 2 bottles of crackling Alsatian pinot gris! A fascinating milk chocolate sweet,(We suggest making it dark chocolate). A storm tossed sea, some ambient traffic noise--1000 bicyclists--plus great friend made the evening celebratory meal wonderful. We were with our 2 sons (3 and 6 y. o.) They loved the kids menu and were very happy and quiet during the entire dinner. We enjoyed the fabulous atmosphere, great decor and tasty dishes. Fried calamari appetizer was very good. The signature margaritas were delicious and good size. My husband had the duck confit w pasta for the main corse. It's his favorite dish at this place and it was perfect, as always. I had New England scallops and it was also really tasty. Kids Mac & Cheese and Chicken tenders were homemade style and our picky eaters were really enjoying both meals. We had ordered a Pinot Noir which was out of stock so Michael had recommended another Pinot Noir which was fantastic. The name of the wine was Cocabella. The only complaint is the outdoor lighting, which we were told was due to the sea turtles. Evidently, if the lighting was anything but the awful yellow bulbs, the turtles would try to cross the street and risk death, rather than spawning on the beach. Long story short, the yellow lights make the food look horrendous, but the taste is superior... One complaint is the outdoor lighting - we sat as a party of four on the 'patio' facing the ocean - was very nice. However, the outdoor lighting, turned on around 7 PM was absolutely horrific. The idea of Via Luna is a moonlight guide for birthing turtles; I get that. However, yellow overhead lighting is absolutely awful for food service... If you are eating, stay inside.
