Via Luna at The Ritz-CarltonFabulous night!We love this restaurant and we had a great Mother's Day dinner at Via Luna on Sunday night. The service and the food were exceptional. We were with our 2 sons (3 and 6 y. o.) They loved the kids menu and were very happy and quiet during the entire dinner. We enjoyed the fabulous atmosphere, great decor and tasty dishes. Fried calamari appetizer was very good. The signature margaritas were delicious and good size. My husband had the duck confit w pasta for the main corse. It's his favorite dish at this place and it was perfect, as always. I had New England scallops and it was also really tasty. Kids Mac & Cheese and Chicken tenders were homemade style and our picky eaters were really enjoying both meals. I ordered the osso bucco, not great so I changed it to this risotto dish, omg, wow it was GREAT !

We had ordered a Pinot Noir which was out of stock so Michael had recommended another Pinot Noir which was fantastic. The name of the wine was Cocabella. You get to watch all of the people on the boardwalk.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMA great view of the Ocean,A great view of the Ocean, outdoor seating raised off the walkway, and a service staff that is top notch, Via Luna is a great location within a great location, Ft Lauderdale. The only complaint is the outdoor lighting, which we were told was due to the sea turtles. Evidently, if the lighting was anything but the awful yellow bulbs, the turtles would try to cross the street and risk death, rather than spawning on the beach. Long story short, the yellow lights make the food look horrendous, but the taste is superior... Lauderdale beach, we had a delicious broiled salmon dinner. We opted for the patio, which was a good decision on a balmy Friday evening. One complaint is the outdoor lighting - we sat as a party of four on the 'patio' facing the ocean - was very nice. However, the outdoor lighting, turned on around 7 PM was absolutely horrific. The idea of Via Luna is a moonlight guide for birthing turtles; I get that. However, yellow overhead lighting is absolutely awful for food service... If you are eating, stay inside.
