Diner Reviews
  • "We loved the entire experience. The food was fresh, ambiance was nice and the service was lacking nothing! Our server, Jane was wonderful! The owners were on top of everything! I will definitely go back again!"

  • "Service was so bad that we actually needed to ask 3 different servers to get our bill. When we asked for a second cup of coffee during dessert they brought us a half of a cup -- this was a first! It took us serval weeks to get a reservation -- not sure what the all the rage is about."

  • "Been to Via 45 several times over the past couple of years and never disappointed. First, the food is outstanding - all made to order, and the menu is based on what the chef found fresh that day. Special requests are no problem - in fact, when they called to confirm my reservation, they asked if anyone had special food needs so they could be ready. This time, I went with 3 friends and we had a lot to talk about - we were there for 4 hours and never felt rushed out. The atmosphere is warm, and the two women who own Via 45 are always there and they walk around to see how things are going and thank you for coming - you feel as though you're having dinner at their home. It's a BYO - bring one more bottle than you think you'll need!"

  • "I read a review wherein it was said that there. was a decline of standards here . I saw no such thing. Everything is great. Do not be lead away."

  • "Best made to order gluten free bread. They have gluten flour, breading, and pasta so they can make virtually everything on the menu gluten free or create a dish for you, if they have the ingredients they will accommodate any request. The food is delicious for both gf and non gf (or so my family & friends have said). They have gf dessert options as well."

  • "The food is very fresh - made to order so plan a leisurely dinner. The menu is always changing and offers only 3-4 choices of each app, entree , pasta etc . We both found something we liked but my husband would have liked more variety. Overall a great dinner."

  • "This was my third visit, and it seems to be getting better, we were a party of five everyone enjoyed their meal. I had received a confirmation call the day before and since they don't post a menu I asked if they were going to have a beef dish, since one in my party was a very picky eater and only orders steak when we are out. They could not have been more accommodating and put a Rib Eye steak on special. Our server was excellent very friendly and knowledgeable. Altogether a very enjoyable night"

  • "This was our 3rd trip to Via, and food-wise, it did not disappoint. My husband practically swooned over the special octopus salad; my monk fish was delicious. I am on a very strict diet right now (no fat or sugar), and when I shared my needs with the server, she did her best to see them accommodated. It could have been a great dining experience if not for the fact that our food took an hour and ten minutes to reach our table, at which point I was starved and getting crabby quickly. We also had what we thought was a charming window table, until the people at the table next to us sat down, and the magic of bad acoustics saw to it that every word they spoke was amplified in our direction. Ten minutes of it would have been OK; 80 minutes, no."

  • "VIA 45 is one of those places you might not notice as you drive by, but once you decide to check it out, you 'll be glad you did. With a menu that changes daily and a true farm-to-table cuisine, each visit is an experience. The staff is friendly, and really know the food and quality of the ingredients. This place is a must-have for your foodie list!"

  • "When planning where to take my father for his 70th birthday, I did not have to think twice as to which restaurant to choose. At Via 45 you can not go wrong with any option on the menu! Each night, the chefs hand write the menu for the day assuring absolutely fresh ingredients. The desserts are also to die for! Be prepared to wait a bit as food is cooked to order. But the fact that this is BYOB makes that wait no problem. Prices are also a little high but it is Red Bank and to be expected. Reservations are hard to come by on weekends to book them early if you are planning an occasion. Love love love Via 45! I will be back for sure."

  • "Our party of four was there on a Wednesday night, and thankfully we had reservations. The place was packed. And it's no wonder. The food here is superb, and our friends from out of state just loved it. Our waitress, Jane, seemed to be the only waiter in the house that night, so she was constantly on the move. Though we never felt overlooked, the owners need to consider adding another server. I and one of our guests had the pasta with crab meat, she a fra diavlo and me a milder version. Delicious, as were the other two meals. Though one of the priciest BYOBs around, it's worth the money."

  • "A definite place to dine. Food, atmosphere, company from owners to staff were amazing. Very gracious. Homely atmosphere. Food is fresh, good portions. You can sit and dine, chat. No rushed at all!"

  • "We had dinner on Saturday night, 3/8/14 at Via 45. The place was very cozy as was the decor. The food is prepared fresh so you do need to wait a bit, but it was well worth the wait. The service was good, and they even asked if we were going to the show. It is a BYOB with a liquor store next door. The menu is changed daily, and has everything including vegetarian and vegan choices. We will certainly go back to Via 45, however, you should make reservations or you most likely will not get in."

  • "A wonderful restaurant in the heart of Red Bank. A different selection every night based on the market selection. Inventive, and beautifully plated."

  • "The staff was pleasant and very accommodating. The atmosphere is very intimate and there are only about 20 tables which probably explains the difficulty in getting a reservations. The menu is somewhat limited. The food was fresh and well prepared but it would not be characterized as remarkable, but good italian home cooking. The meal was pleasant but was somewhat pricey."

  • "I found this gem by accident. Back in December, I walked on to Broad Street and it was freezing outside and it happened to be the first place that I saw. The place wasn't open yet but the owners suggested that I go next door to a wine tasting place. Both places were great. I tried bringing my adult kids back because I think they will really enjoy it but its hard getting a reservation on the weekend. When I was there on Friday night I was able to make a reservation for the middle of March with my kids."

  • "This outstanding gem is a foodies delight.... They have a different menu every day and provide amenities like gluten free, vegetarian meals and food to die for..... Each meal is made to your request and the meals take time to prepare often, but are will worth it and the reward is in the eating... I highly recommend that you make Via45 part of your regular routine of eating out for your culinary pleasure........ Claudette and Lauren are becoming legends in Red Bank and deserve all their accolades......."

  • "We've been here several times, most recently for my husband's birthday. While not phenomenal, the food and service are consistent and reliable. It is apparent the owner-chefs take great pride in their restaurant and care a lot about their customers' experience. Menu changes daily, though there are some constant dishes. I would recommend."

  • "We had dinner here on 2/18. Having never heard of this restaurant, we were somewhat apprehensive, although previous reviewers seemed pleased. It is restaurant week in Red Bank, although we did not know this. Our server, Jane, walked us through the menu for restaurant week, options, etc. Jane was attentive and helpful in explaining the dishes offered and the freshness of everything prepared. Of note, I dropped my fork and, less than 15 seconds after it hit the floor, I was offered a fresh, clean fork-without asking! We started with the clams appetizer which is great, with lots of sauce to sop up with the warm bread, monkfish was the best ever and the Norma pasta was also very good. Nicely decorated in a French country style."

  • "My Husband and I had a great Valentines Day dinner here ! This was our second time here and it was outsanding! I had the scallops and my husband had the salmon! Both dishes were fantastic! We had the broccoli rabe and beans for an appetizer and it was special! We don't normally eat desert but we had to try the freshly made deserts ! I had the brownie and it was decadent ! My husband had the almond tart and it was incredible! We had the best night and Via 45 was a big part! We will continue to go back for just a quiet dinner or for a special occasion! We think they are the best restaraunt in Red Bank!! We will be recommending to all our friends!"

  • "My wife ,who suffers from celiac disease, had a most enjoyable time on a bitterly cold night in Red Bank. Our salads we season perfectly, my wife had red snapper milanese, and I had veal picata that was outstanding. Our waitress Amy was well informed on how all dishes we made, and she even had the owner Collette explain the various flours used in the making of her breads, pasta and desserts. It's BYO,so there is no large bar crowd. I recommend you make reservations, because in on a cold Wednesday night there was a good crowd, It was a very enjoyable time and I would go back again"

  • "Excellent food and service. Very accommodating to any special food needs. Food is very fresh so menu items are not always available but the menu changes very day to what is available. Owners go out of their way to make your dining experience memorable. Reservations well in advance are a must. V45 is very popular."

  • "I really liked this restaurant, but last night was not up tp par. The salad was excellent but my fish was so overdone that it was chewy, couldn't eat most of the plate, so I was disappointed, I am willing to give them another chance."

  • "Discussion Thread Customer By Email (Larry Korn) 01/31/2014 05:58 AM Four of us enjoyed the meal and would classify it as outstanding. The attention to detail was obvious and the sauces were perfect. Our server was delightful and accommodating with a fine sense of humor. The service was a bit slow but I don't know whether that was caused by the server or the kitchen. Overall a terrific experience. Larry Korn"

  • "We have been trying all the local restaurants in the Red Bank area. By far Via 45 did not let us down, from the time we arrived till we left it felt like being at home but having someone cook and bring the food to you. The food was so flavorful the portions were just right, the atmosphere was romantic and quiet. The servers we on que as well as the owner chef who took the time to come to our table and ask how everything was. Seating for two was at a good size table where I didn't worry about being bumped into as people walked by. All and all I have nothing bad to say about this place and have been recommending it to all of my friends that go out and eat. I am looking forward to going there with my valentine on that day."

  • "My wife and I recently ate dinner at Via 45 in celebration of our birthdays. The food was delicious. The waitress explained that everything is cooked to order, so if we preferred something different than was on the menu we could ask for it and they would try to oblige. We started with the Tomato and Mozzarella salad. It was one of the best salads I've ever had. Everything was fresh and well presented. I had the Blackened Sea Bass and my wife had the Grilled Cod. Both were cooked to perfection. I would definitely eat here again."

  • "The two must know's about this restaraunt is that everything is made from scratch so food will take longer to leave the kitchen and that the restaraunt will do everything in their power to accomodate your meal request. The meal started with complimentary bread and olive oil for the table. The olive oil was of exceptional quality so no italian spices or balsamic vinegar was needed. For our apetizer we had the crab and pear purses in a parmesean cream sauce. Possibly the best pasta dish I have ever had. Not cheap howerver....25 bucks. My fiance had the roasted chicken which was cooked perfectly. Crispy skin and juicy center. I had a scallops entree and requested it be made with some shrimp as well. Very well done. Top notch BYO in Red Bank"

  • "First what impressed me was they had extra reading glasses...I misplaced mine. Then found out that they will adjust items on the menu to your taste. How great is that. Also, you can request something in advance so they have it for you. Only downer was that it was not decorated for the season. Also loved the décor."
