As always the food is excellent. and the service if always excellent. The waitress was great. This never happened before but our salad and appetizer came out the same time and we were not happy about that . So the wonderful waitress took the salad back until we were ready and then gave us fresh salads. We made 8:30 reservations on purpose so we can take our time and enjoy the wonderful meal at Via 45. So Kudos for the waitress . But not happy about the kitchen serving salad and appetizer same time...miscommunication. the waitress wonderful

Thank you for always making our visits to your table exceptional. OpenTable makes reserving a table is easy. The welcoming environment, pleasant staff and thoughtful attention to food allergies take your dining experience to a level better than other restaurants. Then you have these "omg this tastes amazing" moments as your eating each course. This is the reason we choose your table to celebrate my husband's birthday. It was another memorable meal that you made special. Thank you for welcoming us to your table.

This place is great... Coming from a foodies point of view. The staff is friendly and super accommodating. Anything you want- food specifications- a cheese plate that's not on the menu- changes to your order- they try to make you happy and your experience at their table enjoyable. It's a BYOB- which I love for Italian food, and they take their time bringing the food to you- because it's made to order- which I love even more! One of my favorite local spots, hands down.

Small, beautifully decorated restaurant with a wonderful menu that is handwritten each night. Great pair of chefs! They have a gift for cooking and baking. Very accommodating to guest's needs/likes. Service is also great. One of my favorite places to go for special occasions or simply for a wonderful, cozy meal for 2.

Great food; daily menu variations; efficient, unobtrusive service, in a quiet room. Great attention to detail. Our party of four was the last table still occupied. There was no pressure of any kind on us to finish and leave despite the late hour. A nice touch. Will definitely return.

We were in Red Bank, our first time, for show at Count Basie. After checking web sites, trip adviser, for restaurants, we decided on Via 45. We were pleasantly surprised by the quaint atmosphere Our waitress, Michelle, put us totally at ease with her charming personality. ( I hate uppity waiters). I would call the entries "Country Italian", not a lot of red sauce here. My delicious chicken dish was served stew-like with potatoes, vegetables, and sausage in a savory sauce. My wife raved about her salmon in a brown sugar chile-appricot glaze. We split a salad and a wonderful mint glazed melon and cheese plate. We were in Red Bank for the show (Steely Dan) but will return to Via 45 for the food.

Brought friends visiting from Minnesota to Via45 last weekend. They initially wanted to dine in a restaurant with an ocean view but we convinced them they would have one of the best meals of their lives if they dined at Via45. And they did! They swooned alongside us as we feasted on appetizers (whatever the pasta "purse" du jour is, just get it!), entrees and desserts personally suggested by Claudette. Thanks for the as-usual-outstanding meal, oh-so-sweet and homey ambiance and the "white-glove" treatment.

I've tried to visit this place several times and could not get reservations......finally I managed to get a reservation on a Tuesday early evening for our anniversary. Food was good but not great....We had - what I call - a deconstructed wedge salad to start which was ok - but can find anywhere...nothing special there....My wife had swordfish which was very good and I had the pork milanese which also was very good - the italian scheescake was - I am sorry - awful....could not even finish and I love Ricotta Cheesecake. A somewhat overall disappointing experience. Sevice was very attentive and helpful.

This restaurant is so charming. The room has been totally transformed from its former occupant. The space is divided by creatively decorated half walls and everything is perfectly mismatched. The menu is inventive, the staff welcoming but professional and our dinners were delicious. Most items on the menu were standard restaurant fare, but each one had a twist ---a creative sauce or a different spice that made a decision very difficult. Our waitress was very helpful in directing us to the perfect choice. We look forward to returning.

We took friends, and they loved the place and have already call other friend to tell them try it.

The food was imaginative, fresh, and wonderful. We loved the simplicity of the made-daily menu and enjoyed every bite of our meal. And we were never rushed along. It was wonderful and we will go back again and again, with or without friends & family.

Delicious food and completely safe for this highly sensitive celiac. They even have amazing gluten free homemade bread. They can make almost everything gluten free. We have been here a few times and love that we can now make a reservation on Open Table - it is not the easiest place to schedule! This time, our service was frustrating... 45 minutes just to get bread. It took three requests to get an ice bucket for our wine. This is a very relaxed environment but we have never had such slow service before. We felt repeatedly passed over. Hopefully this was just a fluke. We will be going back again, because the food is sensational... a fresh and unique melding of flavors you simply can't find anywhere else.

Via 45 is fairly good but not worth the price. I had Pasta with Clams and expected a pasta dish with the flavor and aroma of fresh clams. However, there was not even a hint of clam flavor but instead an excessive, overpowering amount of garlic. So, the dish was well made but the garlic flavor was extreme and overpowering. And, I believe the clams used were canned, not fresh. The dish would have more appropriately been called Garlic With Pasta. My mate had Chicken Marsala, which was served with some basic vegetables. The chicken was okay, but slightly less tender that it should have been. For desert we shared the blueberry tart, which was excellent. The bottom line: The food is fairly good but not great and is overpriced.

We love coming to Via 45 because we know that we will always have a delicious dinner. Our entrees were beautifully cooked and prepared: grilled lamb chop appetizers, grilled romaine salad, mako shark, salmon with balsamic reduction, grilled red snapper. The ambience is always friendly but classy too. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. I especially liked that she knew automatically that I have a nut allergy after I called for the reservation and noted as such. We also love the room layout, which encourages conversation without disturbing others. It is truly a gem!

I have heard through the area that this place uses organic food, and that they are farm to table, so my family and I thought we would check it out. When we got to the restaurant we started to check out the menu and there was nothing listed as Organic, or Locally Farmed, or anything indicating that this might be a farm to table restaurant. I asked our waitress if the chicken was organic, she said no, so then I asked her where they get their pork chops from, and she did not know, so she went and asked. When she came back she said they get all there meat from various butchers in the area, what??? And this is a Farm to table restaurant, I don’t think so. Food was OK, my clam and pasta were just ok, nothing special, I make better.

After a good review in the NY Times I looked forward to dining here. The best part as it turns out wasthe ambience, (decorated like a library. The menu was very limited (I understand it changes very often). I shared an Israeli salad. It was mainly big chunks of cucumber, less than 1/2 of a tomato, minisule amounts of Feta cheese and some olives. No dressing. This was $14. For the main dishes there was no shellfish, beef or veal. The only dish I could find was Chicken Marsala. (1 piece of chicken, pasta and mushrooms). To be honest it would be better in any pizza place. The price was an exorbitant $27. My companion had a trout almondine w/spinach ($29) which she enjoyed very much. Service was mediocre. Would not go back.

With the proliferation of farm to table restaurants cropping up all over the state, I was pleasantly surprised by the truly inspired menu and spectacular cooked to order food. We shared mussels prepared in a light broth with fennel, garlic, and white wine; nothing overpowered the taste of the mussels, and we were able to sop up some of the excellent broth with the homemade bread. Then, we shared a salad of arugula, asparagus, fresh tomatoes, and goat cheese. For entrees we had pan roasted trout that was cooked perfectly: Crispy skin and white flesh. My wife had homemade penne pasta with shrimp and a light sherry cream sauce that could not have been better. We were so full, we had to pass on dessert, but we will definitely be back!

My husband and I looked forward to celebrating my birthday here - had not dined here for more than a year after being served almost raw lamb chops one New Year's Eve. Thought we'd try again. Mussels were wonderful, dessert excellent ( ricotta-walnut tart). My veal special was enjoyable but way over-priced ( I should have checked before ordering knowing that "specials" can be pricey). My husband's chicken with sausage - fair. BYOB is a plus. Service was uneven - could not find waitress for a spoon but bus service was ready to clear table frequently when we were still eating. With all the wonderful dining options around I doubt we will return. PS portions are very large by our standards so if that makes you happy give Via 45 a try.
