The dining room is warm and inviting, with its Tuscan country feel and a European-style common table for people to gather.

The plates are made "in the moment", using fresh ingredients from local markets.
The chefs claudette and lauren write a suggested menu for the evening. Guests can recreate their dish to accommodate personal preferences and dietary needs.
The menu allows for gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan choices.

  • "We love coming to Via 45 because we know that we will always have a delicious dinner. Our entrees were beautifully cooked and prepared: grilled lamb chop appetizers, grilled romaine salad, mako shark, salmon with balsamic reduction, grilled red snapper. The ambience is always friendly but classy too. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. I especially liked that she knew automatically that I have a nut allergy after I called for the reservation and noted as such. We also love the room layout, which encourages conversation without disturbing others. It is truly a gem!"

  • "After a good review in the NY Times I looked forward to dining here. The best part as it turns out wasthe ambience, (decorated like a library. The menu was very limited (I understand it changes very often). I shared an Israeli salad. It was mainly big chunks of cucumber, less than 1/2 of a tomato, minisule amounts of Feta cheese and some olives. No dressing. This was $14. For the main dishes there was no shellfish, beef or veal. The only dish I could find was Chicken Marsala. (1 piece of chicken, pasta and mushrooms). To be honest it would be better in any pizza place. The price was an exorbitant $27. My companion had a trout almondine w/spinach ($29) which she enjoyed very much. Service was mediocre. Would not go back."

  • "With the proliferation of farm to table restaurants cropping up all over the state, I was pleasantly surprised by the truly inspired menu and spectacular cooked to order food. We shared mussels prepared in a light broth with fennel, garlic, and white wine; nothing overpowered the taste of the mussels, and we were able to sop up some of the excellent broth with the homemade bread. Then, we shared a salad of arugula, asparagus, fresh tomatoes, and goat cheese. For entrees we had pan roasted trout that was cooked perfectly: Crispy skin and white flesh. My wife had homemade penne pasta with shrimp and a light sherry cream sauce that could not have been better. We were so full, we had to pass on dessert, but we will definitely be back!"

  • "My husband and I looked forward to celebrating my birthday here - had not dined here for more than a year after being served almost raw lamb chops one New Year's Eve. Thought we'd try again. Mussels were wonderful, dessert excellent ( ricotta-walnut tart). My veal special was enjoyable but way over-priced ( I should have checked before ordering knowing that "specials" can be pricey). My husband's chicken with sausage - fair. BYOB is a plus. Service was uneven - could not find waitress for a spoon but bus service was ready to clear table frequently when we were still eating. With all the wonderful dining options around I doubt we will return. PS portions are very large by our standards so if that makes you happy give Via 45 a try."

  • "We returned after several months, and dined on wonderful, FULL flavored Italian soul-food. We ate outdoors with our old beagle buddy. Clams Bianco sauce was so good that I poached flounder and asparagus in it the next day at home, to prolong the pleasure. Menu choices seem fewer, but no problem."

  • "As always, we had a great time at VIA 45. All 7 members of our birthday party enjoyed their meals. We had an excellent sausage and broccoli rabe appetizer as well as some delicious salads. The entrees included steak, pork chops, shrimp and scallops. Food, table, and service were great. Can't wait until the next time. I would suggest reservations since the restaurant is very popular. Also, this is BYOB (there's a liquor store a block away.) "

  • "Group of six 2 of whom ordered salmon. The pieces of salmon were as big as 1 lone spare rib. We were all quite surprised as it didn't appear to look like the normal size of salmon one would get at any other restaurant. The other four entrees were fine. While quality was good, menu prices are quite steep. In addition the wooden chairs are not so comfortable. We chose this restaurant for member of group from NYC because of a personal recommendation. Would not return. "

  • "The service and ambiance were great, but the only way I can describe the food was going into see a totally hyped up movie and being completely disappointed. The portions were huge though, so plenty to take home but it went into the trash the next morning. My friend who I went with is extremely picky so the 3 appetizers and 6 dinner choices was limited for her. They are good with making food to order but it has to include what's on the menu."

  • "It's nice to have a restaurant, that caters to all type of food requirements. The menu is a nice variation, not leaving anyone out. From vegan, gluten Free, vegetarian and steak, too. The best part, is there is something on the menu for everyone. You know its a hit, when you have to make a reservation couple weeks in advance for a booking. Competition is fierce in Red Bank, but good food, at Via 45 is in the best."

  • "We took a gamble on a local restaurant in Red Bank, which imo does not have a great selection of very good restaurants. We were very pleasantly surprised. Via 45 has a bit of an eclectic atmosphere... funky in a good way. The food was expertly cooked. My pork chop was excellent, perfectly done combined with al dente vegetables. My only complaint was the kid that cleaned the tables. When he wasn't taking dishes away from other patrons, he leaned against the wall right next to our table which was a bit uncomfortable."

Notably, the sausages with broccoli rabe and white beans and the bread were possibly the best dish we sampled. The branzino was also an excellent find from a list of a few off the menu items. Portions are generous and some dishes should be shared in order to be able to try two or three different gems. "

  • "Been to Via 45 several times over the past couple of years and never disappointed. First, the food is outstanding - all made to order, and the menu is based on what the chef found fresh that day. Special requests are no problem - in fact, when they called to confirm my reservation, they asked if anyone had special food needs so they could be ready. This time, I went with 3 friends and we had a lot to talk about - we were there for 4 hours and never felt rushed out. The atmosphere is warm, and the two women who own Via 45 are always there and they walk around to see how things are going and thank you for coming - you feel as though you're having dinner at their home. It's a BYO - bring one more bottle than you think you'll need!"

They have gluten flour, breading, and pasta so they can make virtually everything on the menu gluten free or create a dish for you, if they have the ingredients they will accommodate any request. The food is delicious for both gf and non gf (or so my family & friends have said). They have gf dessert options as well."

  • "This was my third visit, and it seems to be getting better, we were a party of five everyone enjoyed their meal. I had received a confirmation call the day before and since they don't post a menu I asked if they were going to have a beef dish, since one in my party was a very picky eater and only orders steak when we are out. They could not have been more accommodating and put a Rib Eye steak on special. Our server was excellent very friendly and knowledgeable. Altogether a very enjoyable night"

  • "When planning where to take my father for his 70th birthday, I did not have to think twice as to which restaurant to choose. At Via 45 you can not go wrong with any option on the menu! Each night, the chefs hand write the menu for the day assuring absolutely fresh ingredients. The desserts are also to die for! Be prepared to wait a bit as food is cooked to order. But the fact that this is BYOB makes that wait no problem. Prices are also a little high but it is Red Bank and to be expected. Reservations are hard to come by on weekends to book them early if you are planning an occasion. Love love love Via 45! I will be back for sure."
