  • "I haven't eaten at Vetri in 5 years, but I remembered the food as some of the best I have ever had. My experience surpassed my very high expectations. The tasting menu was varied, creative, and beautifully presented. The sommelier quickly recommended some amazing wine to suit our table's diversity of tastes. Highlights were the sweet onion crepe, asparagus flan, and spinach gnocchi in brown butter, but nearly every course was perfect. Service was attentive and expert, but not intrusive. My dining companions and I agreed that Vetri is by far our favorite restaurant in Philadelphia. This restaurant is not for the cost-conscious, but given the superior quality of the experience, we saw the $155 prix fixe as a bargain."

Sometimes hard to get in the pricey 11 table establishment, the feeling of "special" begins the minute you step foot inside. Decor, lighting, even linen help grow the anticipation of a Big Night ahead. Professional but warm, friendly service leave you never wondering or wanting and the pace of the experience is perfect. Wonderful wine list heavy on the Italian, some French. And the food, why you come, of course, is top notch, inventive and delicious. Peruse the listing, be vocal about any dislikes, but let them bring you what they choose and be surprised. It's the only way to eat here. Do a wine pairing. Live it up. Make it a Big Night."

  • "The dinner was impressive and well orchestrated. The food was exceptional in quality and OK in surprise tastes. I have been in many of the world's unbelievable restaurants (especially France and northern Spain) and I have a slight preference for a little more of the exceptional and not so much of the OK. That would decrease the theatricality of it and keep strict attention on the food. I had an asparagus dish in Spain and the asparagus was perfect, simple, but the white "dipping" sauce was worth remembering for life. I do know the produce in Europe is better. I also continue to appreciate a dish after several bites. If I return to Vetri, I would get a whole dinner, not the tastings."

  • "First time at Vetri. Date night for combined Mother's and Father's day gift. We knew we were in for a special night with the complimentary Prosecco we were served while we waited about 10 minutes for our table. Added the wine pairing with the tasting menu that we shared. Pricey, but we knew that coming in. Lived up to expectations, which were high. Best meal I've had. Would definitely come back the next time we're looking for a special night out."

  • "Excellent. Everything. Two of us--each a different meal with our needs/preferences in mind. Terrific wine pairings, some we'll make a point of buying, if we can find them. The menu changes; it doesn't matter what's on your plate--all extraordinary. A wonderful pace, a gracious and informed server. Misleading to single anything out--as if anything wasn't very, very good--but I do particularly want to mention the foie gras(incomparable) and the Japanese beef (name I forget)--no beef I've ever tasted approaches this. The asparagus flan melted in my mouth. The sweet onion crepe unbelieveable. This food makes you eat slowly."

  • "I don't mind a high price if the chance deserves it, but a so high price bring unusual high expectations. Vetri is, withoubt any doubt, a great restaurant and provides a great experience, but I expected something beyond, I guess. A sensitive lower price would have probably lowered my expectations and would have lead to a delightful surprise, indeed. Otherwise the evening was great, a small beautiful place with a warm team of waiters, and an excellent meal."

Do yourself a favor and go there when you aren't rushed and can spend 3 hours with someone that you enjoy.   • "We went to Vetri to celebrate our anniversary. We heard great things and we were excited to try Vetri ourselves. It did not disappoint! We knew that it would be expensive but for such a unique experience it was well worth it. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. The dining room is beautiful and cozy. Rachel was our server and she was so helpful and knowledgeable about the food and wine. We all did the wine paring which they customized to our tastes. The food was delicious and we always received two different selections between the four of us so that we could try multiple dishes. It was the perfect night and I would definitely recommend Vetri for a special and memorable dinner!"

  • "We've been waiting two years to get a table at Vetri. Being from out of town and always making last minute weekend plans to visit Philly, did not work for getting a table at Vetri. However, when we finally decided to visit Philly on a Monday, we knew this was our shot. We lucked out and got a table. There were few diners on a Monday, which made our experience even better. We had time to speak to the wait staff and discuss each dish we were presented with. Every plate that came out was quickly consumed by myself and my husband. Every morsel a tasty, culinary treat. I was not sure that I would enjoy dessert, but it proved to the best course - this coming from a savory girl! If you have a special occasion or just love food, Vetri is a must."

  • "When planning a recent trip to Philly, we were encouraged to get a reservation at Vetri. Best advice ever! The prix fixe is worth it, especially if you and your group try different items and share. The Morel Sandwich was amazing! Sweet onion crepe with truffle, so delicious. If the spinach gnocchi with brown butter is on the menu, order 2! Also delicious was the quail, bolognese with pappardelle, tuna involtini.... The list goes on. There were so many incredible desserts, but try the pistachio flan if it's available. Jeff, Bill, and Sophia helped to make the night most memorable. A trip back is in the near future!"

  • "Just had dinner there. The best dishes are pasta and desserts. We had goat, diver sole and pork for main courses. They are good but i prefer a little more surprises and creativities. Service was superb. Upscale but not pretentious. They give you a lot of food and I suggest not to eat too much bread!"

  • "Heard about this place for a while and wish I would have been able to dine here before they went Pre fixe tasting only. The whole experience was very nice and comfortable without any stuffiness (or even a dress code A la Jean Gorges, Per Se Etc). Food and wine parings were phenomenal. Absolutely the best morsel of pasta I had ever tasted in my life (ramp ravioli). I would have ordered 60 and took some home. All the dishes my GF and I tasted were very unique and the chef came out quite a few times and toured the dining room to make sure what he prepared for each diner was a perfect plate for that table or individual. Price is a bit steep for what you get but so well worth it. Wines that were paired with the dinners were perfection."

  • "My wife has always wanted to visit Vetri. We finally took the plunge. We were very happy we did. From the moment we entered the restaurant we could tell this was a special place. I was very impressed with the attention to details right down to addressing us by our first names. The atmosphere was very relaxed and the food was spectacular! We had at least five different people attending to our every need. One would think having a tasting menu you would leave hungry. Not at Vetri. Every course was unique and extremely delicious. I'd recommend just going with the flow and trying everything the chef sends out. Prior to our visit we were asked if we had any food restrictions. Another nice touch. Can't wait to go back!!! "

  • "I must say that living in Philadelphia for many years, enjoying fine dining in this city and others here and abroad and not having had dinner at Vetri. My thought that the critically acclaimed restaurant deserved a chance. The meal was good but, for the dollar amount that it commands it should certainly be much better than just good. It should be outstanding. The earlier and smaller dishes of the meal were generally better than the latter dishes in the meal. One of the pasta dishes: radiatori with porcini was possibly one of the worst pasta dishes I have ever eaten. The dish that I was hoping to be served was in fact served. Baby goat over polenta. The goat was cooked nicely but over salted and polenta was cold. Excellent wines/service."

  • "The service/food was really great - but at $155 per person, there are plenty of other Philly spots I can think of that would give you comparable food/service for half the cost. I was surprised wine wasn't included at this price point. Also, paying this kind of premium, I would kind of expect the service to be excellent, but a 20% tip put us over $400 for 2 people. And we only added one glass of wine. The intimate setting is romantic until the couple next to you starts an argument, and the food doesn't need to be so heavily salted. I'm glad we got to experience this heavily touted restaurant, but in the future I'd rather go to Little Fish 4 times instead of skimping at Vetri once."

Amazingly, the experience keeps getting better and better, and this remains for us the best dining experience to be had in Philadelphia. The food across the board was superb with particular standouts including the sweet onion crepe and the salt-baked quail. We chose to get both wine pairings, and each selection was carefully matched and perfectly complimentary to the dish. Service was outstanding, with Bill and Bobby making us feel both welcomed and well cared for, generously offering an extra "splash" of prosecco at the start of the meal or espresso at the end. We will of course be back."

The chef's seasonal menu was a delectable sequence of food choices that began and ended in perfection. We opted for the wine pairings and appreciated the thoughtful selections and enjoyed several different wines we had not previously encountered. The ambience was perfect for such a gastronomic adventure, Vetri actually plays music that enhances your dining experience. I cannot say enough about the staff.   • "My husband and I recently had a terrific dinner at Vetri's. Everything from the appetizers to the desert was expertly prepared and beautifully presented. The staff was very knowledgeable about the food preparation and the wine selections.We were given a background of the history of the way food is prepared at Vetri's and information about the regions in Italy that grew the grapes for the wine selections. The chef chose our selections which added to the interesting dining experience. We had food that we may not have ordered had we chosen our own. We had Quail(prepared in a salt/spinach crust, rabbit with paperadelle,4 different pastas so delicately prepared and on and on. The whole meal was perfect in quality, preparation and service. "
