It is easily accessible to the concert hall. The service is excellent. The view of the Wheel is eye catching. The food is so-so. An attempt to innovate"saltimbocca with trout" was a failure. Looked fabulous... tasted bland and stringy with prosciutto. Trout is not as firm as veal Pasta dishes were fine. House appetizer, not so great. Being different is not better, it's just different. House wine was a bargain.

The space is beautiful but I can only give food and service a good rating. The cabbage salad with hazelnuts and cheese sounded better than it tasted. My tagliatelle with venison ragu was good but arrived warm, not hot. The chocolate pudding on a wafer with olive oil gelato was on the precious side and I really couldn't taste any olive oil flavor. One woman took our drink order and another came to get our food order but didn't say she was our server. My husband's prosciutto appetizer was delivered by a runner but our server never came by to offer bread to go with it. The wait for our entree was on the long side and I noticed the people at the next table sat a long time with no food. True it was a Saturday evening but we were seated early, at 5:40.

Vespolina is a great addition to the downtown Seattle dining scene. Go before or after a show at Benaroya Hall or enjoy one of the the best after-work happy hours in town. You won't be disappointed by this terrific Italian restaurant which is the sister to Capital Hill's Spinasse.

Vespolina is in a prime location and the ambience is lovely despite being a bit loud. I only wish the food had been as good as the ambience. I had the trout and that is literally all that was on my plate. No sides at all to go with it. Despite being stuffed with proscuitto, I could not taste anything but the relatively bland flavor of the fish. Very disappointing. I also had the apple, radish, cheese salad. It was so overloaded with cheese that the apple flavor was lost. At least the service was excellent despite the poor reviews about service that I had read before going.

Excellent pasta is really the standout here and the main reason to visit. Appetizers and desserts were outstanding and creative, but if you look hard you might find that quality elsewhere. The pasta, however - nobody has that. The textures and flavors of the pasta, made specifically for each dish, are unique. Earthy, yet sophisticated. That pasta and the flavors and textures of the seafood and seasonings and whatever else goes with it, it all balances perfectly and is worth savoring, so don't rush it. Repeat: Take your time. The trenette were a special treat even having said that. Service, very professional with a sense of humor.

Vespolina seems to be off to a great start. We ate dinner there late -- after 8PM on a weeknight so it was fairly quiet and relaxed. Delicious food in an interesting, modern dining room with a view of a sparkling open kitchen. Great Italian wine list, as you would expect. Knowledgable wait staff and nicely paced courses. This restaurant deserves to succeed and I hope it does. We'll be back and we'll talk it up to our friends.

Huge fans of Cafe Spinasse so wanted to try this walkable option. The service was efficient and friendly. Small menu. We had the prosciutto plate with apple. It was a huge portion, plenty for 2 (frankly more than necessary, but delicious.) We also had the roasted romanesco which was excellent. Dinner was shared plates of Carbonara and squash ravioli. Both were good, but the carbonara was not as toothsome as I would have liked. Lacked the depth of smokiness I look for. The ravioli was nicely balanced with butter and sage sauce. manageable wine list; we opted to bring our own, thought the $25 corkage was a bit steep. I do think I'll opt for Spinasse rather than a return trip here, however. For the price, it is much more memorable.

We ordered off the 3 courses for $30 menu. Three of us ordered the Caesar salad. I'm not sure how you "miss" with a Caesar salad but our salads were so doused with a limey dressing that the greens were limp and the taste was "off" and I could hardly eat it. My friend's French Onion soup she said was bland. The pork ribs I ordered with tonnato sauce and turnips was very good as was the lamb ragu. However, we ordered one bottle of white wine - one of the cheapest on the menu - $50 which is an outrageous price for white wine. The desserts were okay. I liked the fritters but in this case - I didn't need six of them! Since this was Restaurant Week - I feel a restaurant who wants to be sure you'll return really needs to do everything right.

Came here for Seattle Restaurant Week with a group of friends and was excited to try out Jason Stratton's newest restaurant. The service was good, but it did take a little longer than expected after the appetizers, for the entrees to come out. The restaurant is about 6 weeks old, so maybe they are still trying to work out the timing. After we got our entrees, most of us polished our dishes clean! The pasta dishes (I got the Cavatelli with Lamb Ragu) were excellent! The Tiramisu and Ricotta Fritters for dessert were very good as well. Highly recommend and will definitely come back.

A good italian restaurant is characterized by how good its risotto is. This place is not a good italian restaurant. Risotto requires either Arborio, Baldo, Carnaroli, Maratelli, Padano, Roma, or Vialone Nano. This place used California white rice; a soggy mess.

Even though I had a reservation we waited 15 minutes for a table during lunch time. I realize it is restaurant week so they were busy, but they should be prepared for that with only a few options on the menu. I ordered a cocktail and they didn't have a bartender so the server made it when she had time which was 20 minutes after I ordered my drink. It tasted fine and she ended up taking it off my bill without having to ask. The bolognese was salty and not as good as the bolognese at Spinasse. I enjoy relaxing several coursed lunches, and they are longer because I choose to stay. Unlike this lunch which took 1.5 hours to get my entree and I had to scarf it down to keep the lunch under 2 hours.

Second visit here, and the service has slipped from the previous slow levels. Had a reservation for lunch, yet waited 15 minutes to be seated with lots of empty tables to be seen. Food was delivered exactly 57 minutes from the time the order was placed by our table of 2. Food was pretty good, but definitely will not return as it would need to be exceptional food for the slow service.

It started off great. We were seated right away. Waitress got our order in shortly after being seated. Shortly after our appetizers came out. But then the wait between our appetizers and entrees was ridiculous. We didn't understand why when there was only maybe 4 other guest within the restaurant. We saw other tables who sat after us received their appetizers & entrees way before us. It took almost an hour before we received our entree. Once finished our plates were taken and coffee was order while we waited for the dessert to come. Another long wait, surprisingly our desserts came first and we were almost finished and the coffee still hadn't come out. I know this restaurant is sort of new but service needs major improvement!!

while our bar experience was a bit short--understaffed and under attentive-our wait person was very much a counter balance. The bolognese sublime. Perfect pasta and delightful sauce. Squash ravioli also nothing cutting edge--simply terrific. Broccolini appetizer and calamari salad also the same simple delight--pay attention and reap rewards. Fritters for dessert cut from the same cloth. wine list was not expansive but reasonably priced and very tasteful.

The happy hour menu sounds so good and the ingredients, preparation are all delicious but the proportions are ridiculously small! You can get 3 choices for $8 but just be prepared to have tiny portions. The trout for dinner was very good. Great view of the Ferris wheel and Puget Sound from the bar. Love to hit this place often before the Symphony, but food we had wasn't that especially good tasting and the high price didn't help. I ordered trout and that's all I got on the plate, a large trout with a sauce so heavy I got tired of it very fast (it needs a more delicate treatment). Beet salad was OK - partner had lamb chop which was OK, but nothing special. Ice cream dessert was unique and the best part of the meal. They've just opened and maybe it will improve, but won't come back for a year or so to find out. Prefer Fonte, Four Seasons, Wild Ginger, and Taste -- all near by. Told our waitress we had symphony tickets, and she was totally on the ball.
