  • "I wanted a classy romantic restaurant and that's what I got. First, we wanted a glass of wine each. The waitress made us try 3 different wines so we can pick the one we liked most (10$/glass). She was really patient. Then, another waitress served us a free drink their own special mix. For the food, we ordered "decouverte canard" (discovery duck 49$) and "decouverte terre" (discovery land 39$) both very tasty. They had each 2 appetizers, main dish and desert. Everything was excellent. We were full at the end. Don't eat too much bread to enjoy every bite. My husband took an espresso. (4$) The total bill for 2 was 150$. Worth it for special occasions !"

  • "We were fortunate to have chosen Vertige on a Tuesday night, when the restaurant offers a $29 tapas menu. The six dishes per person that included many items on the regular menu. We were able to try everything we wanted, the portions were perfect, and each plate that arrived was a winner. A pleasant atmosphere and excellent service added to our satisfaction."

  • "The waitress was friendly and and took care of us. We had a 5 year old with us and although they didn't have a kids menu, she suggested something that was kid friendly. We had complimentary amuse bouche. The waitress even brought one for our son, which he loved. They used high quality ingredients and did not over cook the fish or the duck breast we had. Service was nicely paced between each course. It was a long 3 years to finally eat at this restaurant. Wished we could have enjoyed the food sooner. Will definitely go back!"

  • "So enjoyed Sunday evening dinner, since they were closing for 2 weeks vacation the next day. The service was highly attentive and prompt. The beef carpaccio which was done in an oriental style was delicious, the lamb kofta were divine, and the veal chop was cooked to perfection place over sumptuous tender gnocchi! Yum!"

  • "We were easily accommodated at Vertige with our changing reservation times but took longer than expected since we took public transit. It would be convenient if on their website they also include how to get to the restaurant by metro! It was a 9:30 pm dinner, and there were not many guests, so we felt a bit rushed in the service. The presentation of scallops and veal chops were beautiful. The amuse bouche was a nice treat. Love the cork tables. Was looking forward to the dessert, hot chocolate ice cream, but was disappointed with the result. Ice cream with whipped cream in cold chocolate pudding...where's the HOT chocolate?"

  • "I was traveling with a group of 8 colleagues for a conference. We wanted a place that was not "touristy" and served delicious, authentic French cuisine. We found it in Vertige. They had a four-course prix fixe menu for us that was affordable. The portions were ample and the food was out of this world. So glad we followed our noses and stomachs to Vertige. "

  • "From the warm welcome, cozy athmosphere to the sublime execution of all dishes our party of four ordered, it was all impeccable, memorable, delectable! If you haven't yet been it is a must in Montreal. If you have, then as per these posts I'm sure you've become a regular as we will be... Merci Thierry & Fadia for a meal which we are still talking about... La cuisne de Thierry est est exécutée avec discipline, finesse mais surtout avec une attention sans prétention. L'accueil de Fadia est chaleureux et amical. Les deux font de ce restaurant un vrai bijoux auquel on a déjà hâte de retourner. hmmmmm arrancini à la pâte de truffe, tartellette aux champigons, viandes assaisonnées et cuites à la perfection, frites maisons et bien plus encore :-)"

  • "The food was really good, unfortunately the service is not what you expect for such a fancy place. Instead of asking for our coats the waitress/hostess scolded us for trying to put them away on a hanger, when we wanted to order she would not take our entrees first and then the main courses, she said she would do it all at once (I'm sorry but as a customer I order what I want and when I want, not at the waitress' convenience). When compared with other restaurants in Montreal, the place is average. For what we paid I would have expected a much better service."

  • "Nous sommes allés à Vertige après une recommandation d'un ami qui vient de déménager à Montréal. Nous n'étions pas déçus! La cuisine est française avec un goût moderne. J'ai eu le meilleur steak que j'aie mangé et les balles d'arancini pour commencé étaient très délicieux. Le seul criticisme était la musique - nous nous sommes assis sous les parleurs et la musique était un peu trop forte, donc c'était un peu difficile d'avoir une conversation. Mais malgré cela, nous avons passé une bonne expérience."

  • "Service is mediocre, as is the food. Ordered their "house specialty" sweetbread and it was way overcooked (rough lumps of sweetbread, not remotely creamy). The noise level is a bit loud, so not great if you are trying to be romatic or have a conversation. The staff seemed to be spread too thin, so it was unattentive and lacklustering. There are better options in Montreal than this."

  • "I had one of the best meals here I've had in years. The food was incredibly fresh, beautifully-prepared, innovative and remarkable. The chef clearly takes pride in his work (restaurant is run by a couple--he runs the kitchen, while she runs the front of house), and has a talent for mixing classical technique with interesting non-European flavors. A reasonable, well-curated wine list topped off a superb evening. Don't miss this place. The only mystery: I couldn't understand why there was a line out the door."

  • "Just a short distance off the main drag, Veritage truly is a remarkable find. The husband and wife team who run it take obvious pride in every little detail. The food is delicious - the molten chocolate cake is dangerously decadent - and the plating is inventive. The decor is appealing and strikes a perfect balance of contemporary and sophistication. What really sets Veritage apart from other restaurants is the service. The night we went there should have been a slow night so the owner had let her staff leave early. Surprisingly, the night was not slow yet our hostess managed to greet new guests, take orders, wait tables, tend bar and still found time to chat with us without ever seeming to be rushed or overlooking other tables. Amazing!"

We were all very pleased with the friendly and efficient service, our menu choices (pork osso bucco, sweetbreads and foie gras, cheddar stuffed chicken and veal chop) and through our window table were able to enjoy the passing neighborhood parade. We look forward to returning to this Plateau gem."

  • "Found this restaurant on OpenTable and was quite pleasantly surprised. The food was amazing and the service was great. Veal and lamb chops are incredible. Best of all, the prices are quite reasonable. As a Montrealer and a foodie, this restaurant just got added to my list! Nous avons trouvé ce resto sur Open Table et nous avons été agréablement surpris. Qualité extraordinaire, préparé avec attention, soins et des petites touches créatifs. Crevettes en entré (sauce au carrie et coco incroyable), les côtelettes de veau et d'agneaux sont parfaitement préparés. Et la facture à la fin est raisonnable (pour la qualité du resto). Je le recommande fortement et je l'ajoute à ma "liste" de réstos préférés."
